Cafe AnimeTrapper Memorial Karaoke Night
A memorial karaoke night at The Pigeon Coop of Carlsbad, NM honors Trapper Cearley, a former employee who performed as a mime and was killed in an accident. The evening centers on supporting his family, including his mother, Teejah, through singing and community giving. There will be prize drawings every fifteen minutes with contributions welcomed from businesses, tip jars for donations, and plans for simple games that need volunteer help. Merchants and vendors are invited to participate, with no required vendor fee and optional setup donations of $5, $10, $15, $20, or any amount that feels right. Top Dog Switch cornhole showdown for cash and bragging rights. Runners can take on the Star Spangled Dash 5K from Heritage Plaza with plenty of color and festive energy. Skydiving is available all day at ATS, the Artesia Municipal Airport. Main Street comes alive for the Let Freedom Ring patriotic parade presented by the Elks Club D.O.E.S., encouraging big, over-the-top float designs that revive classic chicken wire and papier-mâché flair. At Jaycee Park, live music sets the tone with Texas country from Aiden Logsden and rock and roll covers by Shine-ola. The Adobe Rose Beer & ’Rita Garden offers refreshments, and Food Truck Alley keeps appetites satisfied throughout the day. The celebration culminates in a massive, choreographed fireworks show at Jaycee Park lasting nearly 25 minutes, lighting up the Artesia sky.

Celebrate two decades of Tate Branch Artesia at a family friendly event filled with activities and giveaways. CENTER, an international photographic organization, presents a free, hands-on workshop at Carlsbad Museum focused on creating high quality photographic and fine art prints using professional Epson printers. The session is tailored for photographers, artists, and creative entrepreneurs seeking practical guidance on preparing and printing work for sales and promotional use. Participants will leave with finished prints they produced during the workshop. A suggested materials donation helps cover paper and other supplies. All experience levels are welcome, and space is limited. Instruction is led by JC Gonzo, an artist, writer, and filmmaker based in Santa Fe and originally from Anthony, New Mexico. He studied filmmaking, photography, and studio arts at the College of Santa Fe from 2008 to 2011, completing a self-designed BA. From 2020 through 2023 he published the Southwest artist showcase zine Cuidado, which received a Fulcrum Fund Award in 2022. His work has appeared at the New Mexico Museum of Art, No Name Cinema, the Sanitary Tortilla Factory, and additional venues. In 2024 he served as an artist in residence at The Ranch Residency in La Madera, New Mexico.

The $250 Added ECSP/DSBR 2026 Barrel Races and Pole Bending Series #1 takes place at Eddy County Sheriff's Posse. Spectator admission is free and on site concessions will be available. Exhibitions are scheduled before the race, followed by the main competition. Co-sanctioning with WPRA, BBR and NIH is pending. Online entries and exhibitions are offered, and the RodeoResults app can be used to track the pre-draw and live results during the race. Assistance is available for anyone having trouble with the online pre-entry process. Local series memberships can be purchased at the DSBR race.
