Sir Richard Bishop

Sir Richard Bishop brings a solo, all ages, seated performance to the Historic Old San Ysidro Church. A guitarist and founding member of Sun City Girls, he began releasing solo work under the Sir Richard Bishop name with Salvador Kali on John Fahey’s Revenant label, followed by a rich catalog on imprints such as Drag City, Locust Music, Southern Records, VDSQ, Editions Mego and Unrock. OCEAN'S ELEVEN 25th anniversary

A 25th anniversary screening of Ocean’s Eleven at Flix spotlights Danny Ocean, played by George Clooney, who, fresh out of a New Jersey prison, launches an audacious, meticulously planned casino robbery. Guided by three personal rules to avoid hurting anyone, take only from those who deserve it, and play as if there is nothing to lose, he recruits eleven specialists. Among them are Brad Pitt as a master of the card table, Matt Damon as a skilled pickpocket, and Don Cheadle on demolition. Their target is more than $150 million from three Las Vegas casinos run by Terry Benedict, portrayed by Andy Garcia, who is also in a relationship with Danny’s ex-wife Tess, played by Julia Roberts. The stakes blend high-risk crime with matters of the heart as Danny weighs fortune against a possible reconciliation. This special anniversary presentation includes exclusive insight from Leonard Maltin.

From Posture to Page: An Immersion in Maitri Space Awareness and Creative Writing

Led by Miriam Hall and Melissa Moore, this in-person immersion invites participants into a field of deep listening where body, mind, space, and language meet. Through a unique blend of meditation, Maitri Space Awareness, and contemplative writing, the retreat offers a compassionate way to explore experience without trying to fix or interpret it. Gathering in Corrales, New Mexico, the program centers on Maitri Space Awareness, a Dzogchen-based posture practice originated by Chögyam Trungpa Rinpoche, interwoven with compassion-centered writing and experiential work with the Five Buddha Families. Expect a daily rhythm anchored in meditation, with opportunities for individual meditation interviews. Sessions may include lying outdoors in specific Maitri postures while working with colored lenses connected to the Five Buddha Families, along with open periods for unstructured wandering, art, and journaling. Brief teachings on the Buddha Families pair with simple writing prompts, followed by optional sharing in confidential circles grounded in care and respect. The emphasis is not on literary polish or performance. Writing arises from embodied awareness, attuned to personal and collective life, as well as to sensation, mood, place, and the weather within and around us. The atmosphere is calm, spacious, and rooted in mutual respect, and there are no prerequisites, so newcomers to meditation, Maitri Space Awareness, and contemplative writing are welcome. Miriam Hall, founder of Herspiral Arts, has offered contemplative and creative practices for over two decades. She is an authorized teacher of Maitri Space Awareness, serves on lead faculty for Karuna Training, and is co-author of books on Miksang Contemplative Photography with John McQuade. Melissa Moore, Ph.D., is a long-time contemplative practitioner and educator trained as a contemplative psychotherapist at Naropa University, with a doctorate in Psychological Anthropology from CIIS. She co-founded Karuna Training in Europe in 1996 and has guided Karuna Training in North America since 2014. A student of Vajrayana Buddhism since 1979, she teaches contemplative approaches to grief and is the author of The Diamonds Within Us. Greg Warren in Albuquerque, NM

Greg Warren brings his family friendly, everyday-life stand-up to Quezada's Comedy Club & Cantina in Albuquerque. His latest special, The Champ, produced by Nate Bargatze and streaming on Nateland’s YouTube channel, dives into topics like poison ivy, the growth of high school fishing teams, Walgreens, and his tongue-in-cheek claims to champion status. The New York Times has praised his grounded observational style, and also singled out his earlier hour, The Salesman, for turning peanut butter jokes into the sort of signature material fans associate with Pop-Tarts or Hot Pockets. Audiences may recognize Warren from Where The Field Corn Grows on Amazon Prime, Dry Bar Comedy’s Fish Sandwich, Late Night with Seth Meyers, The Late Late Show, and Comedy Central Presents. He is a frequent presence on SiriusXM and on the Bob & Tom Show with his recurring segment The Warren Report, and he has appeared on podcasts including Nateland, Never Not Funny, Bertcast, Dumb People Town, and The Adam Carolla Show. A former All-American wrestler who once sold Jif and Pringles for Procter & Gamble, he often weaves those chapters of his life into quick, relatable stories onstage.
