Each Thursday features a hill-focused run on a rotating route. The first outing is The Eye from Copper Trailhead. Most runners complete it as a loop, and anyone who wants to skip the short scramble near the top can choose a longer out and back instead. When done as a loop, the group follows a no one gets left behind approach, with someone staying with the final runners while quicker participants are free to go ahead. A painted eye marks the high point of the climb. Expect around 1,500 feet of elevation gain over a little more than 4 miles. Parking is free at the trailhead.

Part of the Hispanic Genealogical Research Center of New Mexico Speaker Series, this program features historian and researcher Yvette Cohn Stoor, a recipient of an American Folklife Center Community Collections Grant. She will share her work documenting distinctive New Mexican traditions to create a lasting record of how communities honor their past and celebrate their present, highlighted by her Library of Congress American Folklife Center documentary Steps of Our Ancestors. The film follows community historians and descendants in rural New Mexico as they preserve and revive centuries old ritual dances, including Danza de Los Matachines, Los Comanchitos, and Los Comanches, showing how faith, history, and identity shape village life while safeguarding traditions at risk of being forgotten. Stoor will also offer tips on documentation and research. She serves on various genealogical society boards, including La Merced de Canon de Carnue. The event takes place at the NHCC in the Dominici Education Building, Rooms 122 to 124. This is a free community event with no advance registration required.

Discover the spooky side of historic Old Town Albuquerque on a lantern lit ghost walk that has shared local lore since 2001 and is locally woman owned and operated. Inaugural Opening Night | New Mexico Goatheads

Celebrate a historic milestone as the New Mexico Goatheads take the ice for their first game in franchise history, bringing professional hockey back to New Mexico after nearly two decades. The evening at the Rio Rancho Events Center kicks off the team’s inaugural season, presented by Isleta Resort & Casino, with special presentations and fan experiences throughout the arena. Commemorative LED glow rods will be available for the first 6,000 attendees. The initial puck drop marks the start of a new chapter for sports in the state.

Albuquerque Reptile Expo (Show Me Reptile Show)

At Expo New Mexico, the Show Me Reptile Show presents a large, family-friendly expo celebrating reptiles and other exotic animals. Explore a wide range of species and supplies showcased by knowledgeable breeders and vendors, including reptiles alongside amphibians, invertebrates, small exotic mammals, aquatics, and plants with materials for naturalistic habitats. The marketplace also features equipment, feeders, enclosures, décor, and other care essentials. Visitors can browse the displays, take photos, ask questions, and learn from the community, whether or not they plan to bring home a new pet. Admission options include general admission and VIP passes. General admission purchased in advance is $12 for adults and $5 for kids ages 7 to 12, with children 6 and under admitted free. At the door, adult tickets are $15 and kids ages 7 to 12 are $5, with children 6 and under free. VIP passes cost $17 in advance or $20 at the door.
