After finishing this class, you will be able to take additional Zentangle courses with Certified Zentangle Teachers worldwide. Junior Park Ranger Adventure: Birds

Join the Carson City Park Rangers to explore the local bird population. Participants will learn about bird identification through shape, size, sound, and surrounding. The event includes a stroll around Mills Park, using binoculars to identify different species. Bringing your own binoculars is encouraged due to limited availability. Participants should dress appropriately for the weather and bring water. Minors must be accompanied by an adult. Dogs are allowed on leashes. Online registration is required. A Grit Freedom all-terrain wheelchair is available upon request.

Coin Press No. 1 Demonstration and Minting of the Nevada Capitol 150th Commemorative Medallion

At the Nevada State Museum in Carson City, Coin Press No. 1 springs to life for a live demonstration that shares the story of the Carson City Mint while producing the Nevada State Capitol Sesquicentennial Commemorative Medallion. This limited piece honors the 150th anniversary of the Capitol, featuring the building on the obverse and Coin Press No. 1 with the CC mint mark on the reverse. Each medallion contains one half troy ounce of .999 fine silver, is sealed in an air-tight capsule, and is presented with decorative matting. The edition is capped at 2,000, and the packaging is individually numbered. Visitors may purchase a finished medallion in the Museum Store or buy a voucher for a silver planchet and watch it being struck on Coin Press No. 1.

Family STEAM Sunday

Every Sunday, the Nevada State Railroad Museum features Family STEAM Sundays with science and art programming. Participation is included with Museum Admission. Adults 18 and over are $10, children 17 and under are free, and members are free.

April 26th Sunday Daytime at San Marcos Grill, 1:00pm

Enjoy a guided, step-by-step painting session at San Marcos Grill led by instructor Lynzie Ruecker. Participants can order from the full food menu and a complete selection of beverages while they create, with a dedicated server assigned to the group. The class is open to ages 12 and older, and advance purchase is required to secure a spot. Plan to arrive at least twenty minutes early to choose seats and place any food or drink orders, and pay the restaurant separately from the class fee. Groups of three or more should come extra early if they want to sit together since seating is first come, first served. To keep seats reserved, at least one member of each party must remain at the selected table. Cancellation policy: For sold out sessions, cancellations within 48 hours are not eligible for refunds or exchanges. This session features a game of Blood on the Clocktower using the Bad Moon Rising scenario. The script sits at a medium difficulty level, and beginners are welcome. Player spots are limited, and participants may wish to review the scenario in advance.

Social-Emotional Skill Building with Laycie Hutchinson

A social-emotional skill-building series for Jacks, meaning participants ages 14 and older, takes place in the Hollow Mountain workshop studio at the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City. Each workshop focuses on a different theme, including the connection between self-talk and self-esteem, setting S.M.A.R.T. goals, understanding the effects of trauma, developing coping strategies, and more. The group is facilitated by Laycie Hutchinson. Each workshop costs $40.

Kit Club Creativity & STEM Mondays

Monday evenings are dedicated to the youngest Jackalopes at the Hollow Mountain studio inside the Brewery Arts Center in Carson City. Each Kit Club Creativity and STEM workshop spotlights a new theme and invites young participants to dive into arts and crafts, dance and music, storytelling, nature exploration, simple science experiments, and more. Workshops are held every Monday, and each session costs $20.

MATT - Music and Art Tot Time

Little ones can move, make sounds, and get creative in an early childhood arts session that blends music and visual art. Being Creative with Ceramic Clay | Session 3 | 5 Week Series | Thursdays | Beginning April 16th 2026

Session 3 continues a hands-on clay series with a focus on sculptural handbuilding. Two projects guide the experience. The first is a demonstration piece designed to spark ideas, and the second is an open choice selected by each participant. Sculptural methods are introduced at the start, and there are many directions available for the student-choice work. Participants with prior clay experience are welcome even if they did not attend the earlier sessions. Expect an engaging class that builds skills, results in a completed sculpture, and deepens appreciation for three dimensional art. Any images shared are simply inspirations of what is possible. The series is structured so the first three meetings concentrate on building. A dedicated glazing session follows. A make-up and catch-up day is included in the tuition and requires a separate sign-up. The final meeting is a brief critique and pickup of finished pieces. Instruction is led by sculptural artist Deborah Mae Corona, who values the journey from concept through completion and the natural evolution that happens along the way. She has learned under artists such as Eric Blome, Anne Stryke, and Wanxin Zhang, and earned an MFA from the Academy of Art University in San Francisco. Her teaching emphasizes strong technique alongside the intuition that develops through years of practice. She views art as a universal language that should speak for itself and shares that perspective in the studio. Tuition is $150 and includes all materials, instruction, and firings needed to complete the projects. A $20 lab fee is due to the instructor at the first class.

Dayton High School Booster Club Annual Golf Tournament

At Eagle Valley Golf Course - West, the Dayton High School Booster Club hosts its annual golf tournament in support of Safe & Sober Grad Night 2026. Golfers can look forward to a $10,000 hole in one prize, raffles, and on-course contests including longest drive and closest to the hole. Registration is $135 per player and includes a cart, green fees, and a tee gift. A business package is available for $625 with entry for four golfers and a tee sign. Guided Historic Tour of Nevada State Prison

Experience more than 150 years of Nevada history on a 90-minute guided walking tour of Nevada State Prison. In operation from 1862 to 2012 and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, the site opens areas such as cell blocks, the execution chamber, and the sandstone quarry while guides share accounts of notorious inmates, frontier-era escapes, surprising Ice Age fossil finds, and a one-of-a-kind prison-run casino. Tours are led by the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society, with multiple start times available. Tickets are $25 per person. Closed-toe shoes are recommended due to uneven terrain, and participants should plan for roughly a half mile of walking and about 60 stairs. Bring water and sunscreen, and photos are welcome. An ADA-accessible option is available. Free parking is provided. The experience concludes in the museum and gift shop, where Nevada State Prison merchandise and memberships are available. Carson FC Spring26 Open Clinic

Carson FC is hosting an open soccer clinic focused on building confidence and sharpening on-field skills. Expect a guided warmup with movement work, focused ball control and passing, speed and agility training with quick changes of direction, dedicated 1v1 attacking and defending drills, and simulated match scenarios to apply what is learned. At Nevada Artists Association, this annual art supply exchange welcomes painters, woodworkers, photographers, and fiber artists for a friendly marketplace of swaps and sales. Participants can lighten their stash and pick up something different, from fine art staples like paints, brushes, canvases, panels, and sketchbooks to fiber essentials such as yarn, fabric remnants, looms, and sewing notions. Woodworkers can bring tools, clamps, finishes, stains, and choice wood offcuts, while photographers can circulate frames, mattes, lighting gear, and darkroom equipment. Jewelry beads, clay, scrapbooking materials, and art books are also fair game. A small number of shared tables will be set aside for general exchanging. Anyone arriving with a large haul is advised to bring a folding table to claim their own space. The event offers an easy way to meet local creatives and spark new ideas.

Riftbound Unleashed Prerift (prerelease) #2

Experience the arrival of Unleashed, the third Riftbound set, with a Pre-Rift prerelease focused on exploring the new cards. Prepaid entry costs $30 and will increase to $40. Day-of entries for those not signed up ahead of time are first come, first served and depend on remaining spots. Loud As Folk presents Buffalo Nichols, a singer, songwriter, and blues guitar wizard described by The Guardian as “steeped in tradition but with an urgent, contemporary edge.” He brings an urgent, modern consciousness to the blues, performing music from his 2021 self-titled debut along with other selections. Raised in Milwaukee, the artist born Carl Nichols found early inspiration in the guitar, searching his family’s record collection for musical truth and developing his voice between local bars and the church, then further shaping his sound through soul-seeking travels in West Africa and Europe. Sacramento-based banjo phenom Dirty Laundry opens the show.

Moon Rocks Sci-Fi Short Film Competition (2026)

Moon Rocks 2026 invites filmmakers across Northern Nevada to take on a fast-paced sci-fi challenge that transforms big ideas into a finished short in just two weeks. Teams receive three surprise prompts—a line of dialogue, a sound effect, and a prop—then race to write, shoot, edit, and deliver a 5 to 9 minute film within the deadline. Submitted films premiere on the big screen at the Brewery Arts Center before audiences and judges, culminating in a screening and awards presentation. Two screenings are available, with matinee tickets at $15 and evening tickets at $20, and a double feature pass for $25. Team registration is $25, and each team receives two complimentary tickets to the screenings along with the chance to showcase their work to a live audience. Whether seasoned or brand new, participants can push their creativity, collaborate with fellow artists, and compete for awards and audience recognition.

Nevada State Prison Rumble

Live amateur boxing takes over the historic Nevada State Prison in Carson City, turning this landmark into a distinctive setting for a day of bouts. The event benefits the Nevada State Prison Preservation Society, which works to preserve the site’s history, and the Tazmanian Boxing Club, Parkinson’s Warriors, a program that uses boxing to support people living with Parkinson’s disease. The day includes athlete weigh-ins, a coach meeting, doors opening to the public, and the start of competition. General admission is $25. An optional timed guided tour of the prison’s execution chamber is available for an additional $10.

Engines for Angels Charity Car Show

Engines for Angels Charity Car Show brings a community celebration to Bob McFadden Plaza in Carson City. The plaza and nearby streets will showcase a wide array of cars, while resource and retail vendors set up throughout the space. Live music on the main stage features Los Pistoleros, with another band to be announced, and DJ Ozzy keeping the energy up.
