Author Kim Johnson leads an interactive session in the KAB Auditorium that explores how to fold real-world social, political, and environmental topics into fiction. Participants will learn practical approaches for researching both contemporary and historical issues and for weaving those findings naturally into plots, characters, and themes. The program is presented by the Office for the Arts and the Marydean Martin Writers' Project in partnership with the City of Henderson and the Henderson Reads Book Festival. Guests are encouraged to bring their preferred writing materials. A book signing and light refreshments will follow. Admission is free and open to the public, and parking at Nevada State University is complimentary. Kidchella

Kidchella at Forbuss Elementary School features family friendly fun with a DJ and music, karaoke, hands-on crafts and activities, the Monster Book Bazaar, and plenty of food and treats. Wristband pickup and advance ticket sales take place after school at the front of the school on select days. At pickup, wristbands can be purchased with cash or credit card, and at the door ticket purchases cannot be made with cash. Every ticket supports students, staff, and school programs, helping make experiences like Kidchella possible.

Friday Night Pokemon TCG Weekly!

Pokémon Trainers and Masters can take part in a weekly Pokémon Trading Card Game tournament with a $10 entry fee and prizes awarded as store credit. Proxies are not permitted. Matches are 50 minutes each, and the number of rounds depends on attendance. The tournament has no cuts. A Pokémon Trainer Club account is required for registration. Before the competition begins there is time to trade, play casual games, and chat with the community.

Participants will explore the Pitman Wash Trail together and record observations as a group using the iNaturalist mobile app. The City Nature Challenge is a global effort to document urban biodiversity, and every observation helps scientists better understand local ecosystems and support conservation efforts worldwide. Everyone is welcome, including residents, families, students and visitors of all ages. No scientific background is needed, just curiosity and a smartphone. Optional virtual information sessions are available to help new observers learn the app and prepare. This intermediate road ride with the Giant Las Vegas - Mountains Edge crew is a challenging outing covering approximately 40 to 60+ miles at an average pace of 15 to 18 mph. Routes change from week to week, and the group pauses to regroup so no one is left behind. Participants should be prepared with a road bike or e-bike, a helmet, plenty of hydration, and a flat repair kit that includes a spare tube, inflation, and tire levers, along with a positive attitude. Mountain bikes, hybrids, and time trial bikes are not suitable or permitted for this ride.

Henderson Reads

Henderson Reads returns for its fifth year at Water Street Plaza with a full day celebrating picture book, middle grade, and young adult literature. Nevada SPCA marks Earth Day with Recycle & Rescue, a cleanup effort that turns unwanted household items into support for shelter pets. Virgen Valley Ecommerce will handle collection of a wide range of recyclables, including computers and laptops, gaming systems, networking gear such as switches, modems and routers, monitors, hard drives and solid state drives, video players like VCR, DVD, Blu-ray, Betamax and LaserDisc units, audio devices including CD, MP3, cassette and record players, keyboards and mice, wires, circuit boards, power supplies and other electronic components, stereo equipment and speakers, solar inverters, motors, power tools and hand tools, electronic media such as VHS tapes, CDs, DVDs, records and floppy disks, auto parts, kitchen and household appliances, and all types of metals. In addition, the shelter welcomes clean towels and sheets, new or gently used, and any brand of cat or dog food, while asking that pillows and comforters be left out.

Create a piece that is part wire coil and part beaded links, so it can look like a sleek bangle at one glance and a beaded bracelet at the next. Instruction covers forming clean coils, crafting your own wire wrapped bead links, and finishing the design with a custom hook clasp. Participants receive written instructions to take home for later reference. There are no prerequisites. Train With Coach April in April: Serving & Passing Clinics (Ages 11-13 ; 13-15) Register Now!

Small group Serve and Pass Clinics in Las Vegas focus on helping competitive youth players sharpen their serving and passing before the next season. Sessions are offered for specific age groups, including 11 to 13, 11 to 15, 13 to 15, and 13 to 17. These clinics are not for beginners. They are intended for athletes with at least one year of experience on an NYS team or a club team. Each session is $45. Training is led by Coach April Chapple, a Tennessee Hall of Fame inductee, USA National Team member, three-time All American, first-round Major League Volleyball draft pick, the league’s first First Team All Pro, and a former four-year columnist for the American Volleyball Coaches Association magazine Coaching Volleyball. She has coached elite players in Las Vegas for more than 15 years, working with athletes who became Gatorade Players of the Year and state champions, and who earned college scholarships and went on to compete at the collegiate and professional levels. Space is limited and enrollment is first come, first served. Participants also receive a complimentary volleyball serving checklist.

Taking A Swing At Diabetes 2026

At The Legacy Golf Club, the Nevada Diabetes Association hosts the sixteenth annual Taking A Swing At Diabetes charity golf tournament. The day features 18 holes on a course new to the event, a silent auction, grab bags, on course games, and food and beverages, all for a good cause. Proceeds support Camp Vegas, a program for children with diabetes ages 7 to 17. Over the past 20 years, more than 1,300 kids have attended, and diabetes camps have been shown to reduce hospital and nurse visits, improve performance in school and sports, lower complications, and strengthen family relationships. The Nevada Diabetes Association provides programs and services to over 13,000 people in the community each year, and events like this tournament help keep Camp Vegas thriving.

GLV - Mountains Edge Saturday Intermediate/Advanced Group Ride

An intermediate to advanced road group ride led by the crew from Giant Las Vegas - Mountains Edge offers a solid challenge with routes that change from week to week. Expect roughly 40 to 60 miles, sometimes a bit more, at an average pace around 15 to 18 mph. The group regroups periodically so no one is left behind. Participants must use a road bike, and e-bikes are welcome. Wear a helmet, bring adequate hydration, and carry a flat repair kit that includes a spare tube, an inflation method, and tire levers. Mountain bikes, hybrids, and TT bikes are not suitable or permitted. A positive attitude and an interest in sharing the ride with a supportive group are encouraged.

Launched in 1977, this long-running Spring Jamboree has become a cornerstone of Boulder City’s event season. Dive-In Movie Night: Wonka

Prohibited items include outside food or beverages, controlled substances including all forms of marijuana, over-the-counter or unlabeled medications, firearms, pepper spray, knives, glass items, wireless or Bluetooth speakers, dive rings or sticks, pool noodles, floaties, tubes, rafts, mermaid fins, squirt guns, toys that spray water, toys with small pieces such as Lego, footballs, volleyballs, frisbees, and nerf balls larger than a baseball, as well as coolers and ice chests. Food and drinks purchased at M Resort must have a receipt for entry. Items cannot be held at the entrance, and items discovered after entry may result in removal without refund. Management reserves the right to refuse admission and reserves all rights.
