Family events in Glens Falls, NY

Explore your heritage in a hands-on mixed media workshop featuring Kendra Farstad and local historian and genealogist Kristin Jorgensen. Participants bring their own family information, learn how to organize different generations into branches, and create a unique family tree using pencil, acrylic paints, and ink on paper. If you need help filling in missing branches before you start painting, Kristin provides one hour of preliminary research per participant to uncover additional family details. Findings depend on the records that are available.

Enjoy an all-welcome, family-friendly open mic hosted by Josh LaMay, where performers and listeners can share an evening centered on live, local music. Performers may present up to two songs or 10 minutes, and can use the upright acoustic piano or play an MP3 backing track through the sound system by arranging it with the host in advance. A small amplifier is also welcome. The kitchen stays open later during events. Excessive profanity, explicit sexual themes, and hate speech are not permitted.

Capture a keepsake photo of your pet with a Thanksgiving and Veterans Day theme. A $10 donation provides a framed 4″ × 6″ photo, and all donations go directly to pets in need through The Animal Support Project, which is run entirely by volunteers.

A Mud U pop-up brings houseplant enthusiasts together to trade plants, related supplies, and favorite growing tips. Participation is open to everyone, with advance registration required. Registered attendees will receive event details by email before the swap. The gathering takes place in the Freight Depot building on the Hubbard Hall campus.
