Bring your own pumpkins to break apart or drop them off for others to process. Try swinging a wooden maul, aim for the spiked target, or slice them into pieces. Beyond the smashing, there are treats like cider and donuts, face painting, a selfie spot for family photos, pumpkin bowling, and game tables featuring Mancala, Checkers, and Jenga. Skidmore alumni Francis Davies, Paul Machabee, and Ellie Ushakov open the festival concert. The program also includes an interactive workshop with Moynihan and Marshall, and a participatory session led by alumni exploring their musical practices and experiences.

Comedian Gary Gulman brings Grandiloquent to The Egg in Albany, a new stand-up set that explores insecurity, empathy, and self-acceptance. He reflects on how a thoughtful kid turned to humor, reading, and writing to navigate the fallout from his parents’ mistakes, and why a seemingly confident middle-aged performer feels most at home when a room of strangers is laughing together. Across more than three decades on stage, Gulman has earned a reputation for precise, insightful writing and memorable performances. His credits include numerous television appearances as both a comic and an actor, five television specials, and two widely praised HBO Max hours, Born on 3rd Base, which tackles the wealth gap, and The Great Depresh, a candid and funny look at mental health. Grandiloquent recently completed a five-week sold-out off-Broadway run at the Lucille Lortel Theatre, directed by Tony Award winner Moritz von Stuelpnagel and produced by Mike & Carlee Productions. Gulman has appeared in the film Joker and co-stars in the Hulu comedy series Life & Beth. His memoir, Misfit: Growing Up Awkward in the ’80s, was published by Flatiron Books in 2023 and received praise from Amy Schumer and MacArthur Fellow Adrian Nicole LeBlanc. He continues to tour nationally, performing at theaters across the country, including Carnegie Hall.

The Academy of St Martin in the Fields Chamber Ensemble presents an all-string program that begins with Richard Strauss’s String Sextet from Capriccio, continues with Erich Wolfgang Korngold’s String Sextet in D major, Op. 10, composed in 1916, and after an intermission concludes with Rheinhold Glière’s Octet for Strings in D major, Op. 5. The performers are Tomo Keller and Harvey DeSouza on violin, alongside Amanda Smith and Martin Burgess on violin, Robert Smissen and Fiona Bonds on viola, and Richard Harwood and Will Schofield on cello. Formed in 1967 by principal players of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, the ensemble was created to explore larger chamber works with musicians who regularly perform together. The Academy itself was founded in 1958 by Sir Neville Marriner and is led by Music Director Joshua Bell. Play-directed by Director and Leader Tomo Keller, the ensemble appears in varied lineups from wind trios to string octets, tours extensively across Europe and North America, and has released more than thirty recordings with Philips Classics, Hyperion, and Chandos. This November 2026 tour of the United States and Canada is supported by Maria Cardamone and Paul Matthews, together with the American Friends of the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, founded in 1998 to support the Academy’s work worldwide, particularly in the USA.

After appearing in the Caffè Lena @ SPAC series, Jordanian singer songwriter Farah Siraj returns to Caffè Lena with a new program that intertwines Arabic traditions and flamenco in an intimate setting. Her forthcoming album, Miel y Limón, produced by Javier Limón, a multiple Grammy recipient with ten awards, shapes the evening’s sound by uniting flamenco’s guitar and pulse with the lyricism and heritage of Arabic music. Touches of jazz and her dynamic voice bring it all together, creating music that feels both timeless and modern, close and expansive. Siraj has taken her voice from Jordan to renowned stages including Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center, as well as global forums such as the United Nations, the World Economic Forum and the Nobel Peace Prize Forum. Her songs move across borders, exploring love, longing, resilience and the connections shared among cultures. She performs with her trio for an evening of virtuosic vocals, flamenco guitar, percussion, storytelling and improvisation. Rather than placing Arabic and Spanish traditions side by side, the players let them converse, shifting from delicate and haunting moments to fiery, rhythmic passages. The title Miel y Limón, translated as Honey and Lemon, reflects the project’s contrasts of sweetness and bite, vulnerability and strength, tradition and reinvention. Presented as part of the Nordlys Global Voices Series with support from The Nordlys Foundation.

SLOC Musical Theater is holding auditions for Company, the groundbreaking musical with music and lyrics by Stephen Sondheim and a book by George Furth, originally produced and directed on Broadway by Harold Prince with orchestrations by Jonathan Tunick. Marta, Kathy, and April represent different stages of Bobby’s romantic life, and dance experience is helpful for these roles. Celebrate Helen Tworkov’s memoir, Lotus Girl: My Life at the Crossroads of Buddhism and America, in a conversation presented in collaboration with Skidmore College and The Frances Young Tang Teaching Museum. Moderated by Skidmore College Associate Professor of Asian Studies Benjamin Bogin, with an introduction by SPAC Chief Executive Officer Elizabeth Sobol, the discussion explores Tworkov’s spiritual journey, her upbringing in New York’s Abstract Expressionist art scene, and her reflections on Buddhism’s evolution in the West. The memoir traces her search for truth and belonging through Japan, Cambodia, India, and Nepal against the backdrop of the Vietnam War and American counterculture. Tworkov also reflects on encounters with figures from the worlds of art and spirituality, including the Dalai Lama, Pema Chödrön, Charles Mingus, and Richard Serra. She founded The Tricycle Foundation, which helped bring Buddhist perspectives to a wider Western audience through Tricycle: The Buddhist Review. The event is free, with limited space.

ICFS presents a special screening of TRAUMA OR, MONSTERS ALL with writer, director, and star Larry Fessenden in attendance. Set in the upstate New York town of Talbot Falls, the story follows Cassandra, played by Laëtitia Hollard, who arrives to research a book on George Washington Carver and becomes drawn to strange nighttime noises and a scarred figure next door. Her article for the local paper about so-called local monsters proves prescient. Adam, a man stitched together by science portrayed by Alex Breaux, and Charley, afflicted with lycanthropy and played by Alex Hurt, live in that house. When the piece spreads online, it pulls in the vampiric Sam, played by Fessenden, along with figures from the creatures’ past, and rekindles resentment among townspeople wary of reopening old wounds. Fessenden’s latest brings together characters from HABIT (1995), DEPRAVED (2019), and BLACKOUT (2023), creating a contemporary collision of modern horror archetypes that also reflects on human dysfunction and how a single public opinion can ripple into harmful actions. Longtime collaborators appear throughout, including Joshua Leonard, James Le Gros, Barbara Crampton, Addison Timlin, and John Speredakos. Critics such as J Hurtado of Screen Anarchy and Walter Chaw of Film Freak Central have offered strong praise. Not Rated. 118 minutes. The director will introduce the film and take part in a post-screening Q&A moderated by Matthew Kiernan, a programmer with the Fantasia International Film Festival.
