Artstones by Joanne leads a hands-on wire wrapping workshop at Dreams West that focuses on creating a teardrop stone cabochon pendant with square and round bare copper wires. Over two and a half hours, participants choose a favorite stone from a varied selection and follow guided techniques to craft a completed piece that goes home on a 22 inch copper ball chain. The class welcomes beginners, provides all tools and materials for use during the session, limits enrollment to 9 participants, and is open to ages 18 and up. An optional antique finish is available by oxidizing the copper for a patina, with finished pieces left for this service ready for pickup at Dreams West seven days after the workshop during operating hours. General George brings an open mic presented by Nautilus and The Perks Dept to Nautilus Roasting Coffee House in Huntington Station. Sign-up happens on site before performances begin, with ten spots offered each night on a first come basis, and each performer has about eight minutes. The mic welcomes music, spoken word, poetry, and comedy, while loud full bands are not suited to the intimate, semi-quiet setting. The event is open to all ages, and admission is free. The coffee house is on the ground level of a mixed-use building with apartments above. Parking is available in garage spaces labeled CAFE beneath the building, and after neighboring businesses close you may also use GEI-marked spots, but reserved tenant spaces in the garage are off limits. Nina Rao leads a kirtan at Yajamahe Yoga. She learned traditional bhajans from her grandfather in a South Indian village at the age of nine and later renewed her connection to chanting with Krishna Das in New York in 1996. For many years she has been Krishna Das’s business manager and accompanist, and she is a recording artist with the albums Antarayaami, Knower of All Hearts and Anubhav, with a new album, Bhumi Devi, set for release this summer. Nina regularly leads kirtan, workshops, and retreats nationally and internationally. Space is limited, so advance signup is recommended to reserve a place. Admission is $40.

Primordial Sound Meditation is a personalized mantra practice grounded in the Vedic tradition of India, created to settle mental activity and invite a deep sense of calm. A traditional Vedic formula is used to determine each person’s unique sound, selected from the vibrations present in nature at the time of birth. The word mantra comes from Sanskrit and is commonly understood as a tool for the mind, helping to disengage from external distractions. This training is presented in four sessions. It starts with the fundamentals of meditation, its origins, and the role of a personal mantra. A private one on one ceremony follows, where the individual mantra is given. The next session focuses on practical skills for building a steady practice. The final session looks at expanding awareness and experiencing higher states of consciousness. With this structured approach, participants learn to cultivate inner stability, ease stress, and support overall well-being, vitality, and happiness.

A fundraising concert at The Next Chapter LI spotlights awareness for Addison’s disease with performances by gifted Long Island musicians and artists. Collaborators from Note by Note Song Share, known for partnering with local talent to support charities, join the program alongside featured participants Marilyn Pardo, Jenn Albert, and Karen Kellers. The event supports Team Addison USA and Team Addison Global, a worldwide community promoting education and connection for those affected by this rare condition. Addison’s disease involves primary adrenal insufficiency, requires steroid therapy for life, and can be life threatening. The organizer has served as an ambassador for Team Addison USA since January 2020 and is presenting a first public engagement dedicated to this cause. The program highlights the need for earlier recognition and treatment, noting that very few physicians encounter Addisonian patients and that diagnoses are often delayed. Reported figures indicate that in 1980 only one to four people per million were affected, while today the estimate is between 100 and 140 per million. Funds raised will be used solely for awareness efforts, including better understanding, faster treatment, access to resources, a supportive community, and ultimately saving lives.

The cast includes musicians who have worked with The Who, The Rascals, and John Fogerty of Creedence Clearwater Revival, and the show has earned awards Off Broadway while drawing audiences across generations and regularly filling theaters and performing arts centers. Listeners hear faithful versions of hits, B sides, and deep cuts from the decade, performed entirely live without samples, backing tracks, or prerecorded music. The large scale staging is driven by time travel themed effects, narration, archival audio and newsreel clips, and a vibrant light show, creating a fast paced trip back to a pivotal era. The band uses a modern sound system while performing on authentic 1960s vintage and reissue instruments and appears in period mod attire, underscoring the attention to detail.
