This chip timed event features 5K and 10K races along with a 2 mile walk, supported by the Roman Runners Club and held in memory of US Military College ROTC cadet Richard Mitchell. Race day packet pickup will be available, and the 5K and 10K share the same start and finish. An awards ceremony will take place after the races, with trophies to the overall male and female winners. Age group awards for men and women go three deep in 14 and under, 15 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, and 70 and over, with no duplicate winners. Additional recognition is given to the first place military finishers in the 5K and 10K, male and female, for both active and veteran participants.

The play follows Abby, a fiercely private resident of the Bristol Place Senior Living Facility, whose new roommate, the upbeat Marilyn, becomes her toughest match. Their rivalry draws in Scotty, an orderly and trusted confidant, Colleen and her husband, who get swept into Marilyn’s schemes, and Benjamin, Abby’s estranged son who has struggled with addiction. The piece blends dark humor with surprising depth. The roles of Abby and Marilyn are already cast. Open roles include Scotty, male in his 20s to 30s, a capable resident aide and aspiring actor; Benjamin/Lewis/Clown, male in his 30s to 50s, portraying an estranged son, an energetic skydiving instructor, and an evil clown; Colleen/Woman in White, female in her 30s to 50s, a spirited daughter who also appears in a haunted house scene; and Derek/Zombie Butler/Masked Man, male in his 30s to 50s, a grounded husband who also plays characters in the haunted house. This all-ages summer meet at Clinton High School centers on hurdles and field events, with a full slate of races and jumps. Hurdle races include 55 meters for ages 13 and under, 100 or 110 meters for ages 14 and older, plus 300 hurdles and 200 hurdles. The track schedule also features the 100 and the 3,000 for participants 13 and up, along with middle distance options at 1500, 1600, or the mile at 1609 meters, which may be combined into one section if entries warrant. In the field, long jump and triple jump offer four attempts, and high jump and pole vault are on the program; pole vaulters must bring their own certified poles. Throws include shot put, discus, javelin, weight, and hammer, and throwers must supply age-appropriate implements. Athletes who complete all five throws will receive a Throws Pentathlon score, with three attempts per implement for pentathlon scoring and four attempts when entered in an individual throwing event.

A favorite local tradition returns with a village-wide garage sale spread throughout Oriskany. Residents who want their sale included on the official map can register by using the online form or by leaving a message with the Oriskany Museum at 315-736-7529, and should provide their address, sale dates, name, and phone number. Addresses need to be within the Oriskany School District. Maps will be available for pickup at the Oriskany Museum. The Battle of Oriskany Historical Society will host a 50/50 raffle at the museum, and bottled water will be available for purchase. Honor America Days 5k Parade Run
A Oneida County tradition, this 5K is the county’s longest-running road race and has long been connected to Rome’s summer celebrations. The course follows the Honor America Days parade route and the run takes place ahead of the parade. Participants range from ages 8 through 80, and a Kids’ Fun Run adds to the family-friendly focus. Awards recognize the top three male and female finishers overall, plus age groups under 10, 10 to 14, 14 to 19, 20 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, 60 to 69, 70 to 79, and 80 and over, with masters also honored. Finishers and volunteers receive refreshments. Packet pickup is available at Copper City Brewing Co., with an option on race morning as well. Registration is online only, with help available on race day for anyone who needs assistance. This race is part of the Route 20 Road Challenge.

Now in its 30th year, the Joseph T. White Irish Scramble Golf Tournament returns to Hidden Valley Golf Club for a four-player scramble that supports the division’s charitable efforts. Proceeds help local food pantries and food banks, turning a day on the course into direct help for neighbors in need. Teams of four play for $125 per golfer, with each entry including a bag of goodies, a player gift, greens fees with cart, lunch midway through the round, and dinner after play.
