The Clinton Lions host their annual Shred-A-Thon, providing free, secure shredding performed on site to help prevent identity theft and support paper recycling. Drive up and drop off your documents, then remain in your vehicle while the Clinton Lions take care of the shredding. Bring items such as confidential paperwork, bank statements, medical records, tax returns, old bills, and other papers you want destroyed. Please remove plastic binders, large metal clips, folders, and plastic sleeves. Small staples and paper clips are generally acceptable, though removing them is appreciated. The event welcomes both personal and business materials, and those with a large volume are encouraged to come earlier to help with logistics. No pre-registration is required. Trinkaus Park

All Ages Summer Field event & Hurdle Meet 2026

This all-ages summer meet at Clinton High School centers on hurdles and field events, with a full slate of races and jumps. Hurdle races include 55 meters for ages 13 and under, 100 or 110 meters for ages 14 and older, plus 300 hurdles and 200 hurdles. The track schedule also features the 100 and the 3,000 for participants 13 and up, along with middle distance options at 1500, 1600, or the mile at 1609 meters, which may be combined into one section if entries warrant. In the field, long jump and triple jump offer four attempts, and high jump and pole vault are on the program; pole vaulters must bring their own certified poles. Throws include shot put, discus, javelin, weight, and hammer, and throwers must supply age-appropriate implements. Athletes who complete all five throws will receive a Throws Pentathlon score, with three attempts per implement for pentathlon scoring and four attempts when entered in an individual throwing event.

Participation is limited to one dog per handler. Handlers must be at least 16 and able to maintain control of their dog, and younger children may assist with an adult’s help. Mercy Flight Central 10 Year Anniversary Ribbon Cutting

A ribbon cutting marks a 10-year milestone for Mercy Flight Central, with festivities continuing the following evening to recognize patients, families, first responders, and community members who help make the mission possible. Established in 1992, Mercy Flight Central is a nonprofit air medical provider serving the critically ill and injured. Its flight teams deliver care on par with an ICU when minutes matter, bringing advanced treatment directly to patients at emergency scenes or in smaller hospitals. The organization operates around the clock, every day, supporting communities across upstate New York and beyond.

Pick the outing that fits your style, because the Bikes & Hikes Summer Series is back with walking, hiking, and biking options. This edition features a nature-focused ride that begins at the park’s visitor center and follows the Mohawk River Trail, offering a chance to spot local plants and wildlife in a peaceful green corridor within the city. Riders should bring a bicycle and helmet, and be ready for the weather with sunscreen, plenty of water, and snacks. Walks in the series are suitable for all ages, while hikes and bike rides are recommended for participants ages 10 and up.

Copper City Billiards teams up with Electric City 10 Ball for a called-shot, called-safe 10-ball tournament. The entry fee is $220, and the field is limited to eight players. A $100 deposit secures a spot and is paid by messaging the Copper City page. Refunds are not available after the listed cutoff. Matches use a one-game spot for every 50-point difference, with races capped at 7-5. A 0 to 49 spread plays to 7-7, a 50 to 99 spread plays to 7-6, and 100 or more plays to 7-5. This single-day biology STEM camp invites students entering grades 2 through 6 to dive into hands-on science. A joint exhibition brings together artwork created by artists in Upstate Caring Partners’ pieces of heART program and The Arc, Oneida-Lewis’ Fine Arc program. This collaborative showcase presents contributions from both groups in one shared setting.

Twisted Twig 5k

Twisted Twig 5K teams up with Copper City Fitness for a community-centered day of movement that includes a 5K run or walk alongside a Kids Obstacle Fun Run. All proceeds support the Rome Twigs, a volunteer group that has championed Rome Health and the local community since 1907, contributing to hospital equipment needs, operating the hospital gift shop, and sustaining the Tree of Lights campaign. After the finish line, the celebration continues with a live band, food trucks, and local vendors, creating a welcoming atmosphere throughout the day. Registration is $40 plus processing for the 5K and $10 plus processing for the Kids Obstacle Fun Run. Vendor inquiries can be sent to twistedtwig5k@gmail.com.

Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo

Neverland Day at Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo

Fort Rickey Discovery Zoo transforms into a Neverland themed adventure featuring character meet and greets throughout the day. The Tinker Fairy and the Mermaid of Neverland’s Blue Lagoon will greet guests at the entrance and make periodic appearances at the stages and gazebo. Character entertainment is provided by Cait’s Character Corner, returning for a second year, offering family fun with pirates, fairies, and mermaids.

5th Annual Freya Fest 8/8 & 8/9, 2026

Returning for its fifth year, Freya Fest features psychic, tarot and intuitive readers alongside vendors, healers, tattoos, food trucks, and more. The celebration takes place at Mohawk Valley Community College in Utica, NY and also marks the opening of the brand new COVET Metaphysical store in historic Bagg’s Square. Presented by COVET Metaphysical and sponsored by Heimowitz Arts and The Soul Reflection.

Kathleen Parks with the MVBGA

Nationally recognized fiddler and vocalist Kathleen Parks offers an outdoor performance that blends pop, folk, and classic jazz influences. Her dynamic fiddle work weaves traditional and modern sounds with an easy groove and a playful sense of improvisation. Grounded in Celtic and American roots, and shaped by pop songwriting, funk rhythms, soulful vocals, and groove-forward creativity, her set unfolds as music that feels both fresh and familiar... a journey from start to finish. Weather permitting, the concert will take place on the RACC lawn, and attendees are encouraged to bring a chair or blanket. Admission is free, and beverages are available by donation. Summer Nights Paint & Sip

Settle in for a relaxed paint and sip session focused on creating a tropical summer night scene. Instructor Andrea Grellman-Smith leads the class, drawing on more than ten years of experience teaching and designing step-by-step paintings to guide participants through the process. Tickets are $40 for RACC members and $45 for nonmembers. Admission includes all materials, drinks, and snacks, so everything needed for a creative session is provided.

Man-to-Man Cancer Support Group Meeting

An open discussion group offering a supportive space for men affected by cancer. Participants can share their experiences or simply listen, with conversations welcoming those in treatment as well as those adjusting to life after. Meetings are led by male staff from Faxton Campus, and refreshments are provided. The in-person gathering takes place at Faxton Campus in the Weaver Conference Room on the first floor, with parking available and access via the Green Elevator. A Zoom option is also available for those who prefer to participate virtually.

Art from the Imagination | Art Exhibit Opening Reception

RACC hosts the opening reception for Art from the Imagination, an open-themed exhibition that celebrates creativity without limits. The showcase brings together work shaped by personal vision, feeling, and curiosity, highlighting the meeting point of technique and intuition as ideas unfold into expressive forms. Visitors will encounter a wide range of approaches, from abstraction and surreal storytelling to bold explorations of color and quiet, contemplative pieces, each reflecting the artist’s distinct voice and the reach of inventive thought. The exhibition encourages viewers to look beyond the familiar, engage with surprises, and experience art as a journey that begins with the creator and continues in the imagination of every observer.
