Celebrating more than five decades, this fall running tradition brings runners to downtown Utica at the State Office Building for a 5k, a 14k with scenic switchbacks, and a kids run. The 5k begins with a gentle climb over the first half mile, makes a right at the traffic circle to stay on the 5k route, then moves onto flatter terrain. The second mile starts with a slight rise and finishes level, and the final 1.1 miles largely mirror the opening stretch in reverse. The 14k shares the opening segment, then turns left at the traffic circle and continues with a gradual climb before a steeper push into the park. Middle miles feature picturesque but demanding switchbacks on park roads, followed by a mostly downhill section and a more relaxed descent leading to a quick finish. After the races, a post race celebration and awards ceremony at DoubleTree by Hilton Utica is presented by ICONIC, with awards for overall and age group winners in both the 5k and 14k.

Winter on the Carry returns to Fort Stanwix National Monument with a candlelit celebration of 18th century winter traditions from the Mohawk Valley. Visitors can step inside the fort to explore rooms specially adorned for the season, and activities include a greeting card photo station and a Holiday Junior Ranger activity for children and their families. A separate candlelight portion adds a festive sing along. Admission is free. Attendees should dress for the weather and bring a flashlight, since the fort can be dark and exposed to the elements.
