At Fort Stanwix National Monument in Rome, this annual candlelight program highlights winter traditions of 18th Century residents of the Mohawk Valley. Visitors can explore rooms throughout the fort that are specially decorated for the season and enjoy a greeting card photo station along with a Holiday Junior Ranger activity for children and their families. A separate candlelit evening adds a festive sing-along and showcases spaces adorned with candles, ivy, and warm fires. Admission is free for both the daytime and evening portions. Dress for the weather and bring a flashlight, since parts of the fort can be dark and exposed to the elements.

A brief ceremony will honor and remember lives lost to AIDS and highlight ongoing efforts to prevent and treat HIV locally and worldwide. Panels from the AIDS Memorial Quilt, handmade by surviving loved ones as a memorial to those who have died, will be available to view in the Payne Hall Lobby at the MVCC Utica Campus. This bi-monthly support circle offers a welcoming space for men affected by cancer to connect, share, and learn from one another. Conversations are open discussion, so participants can speak about their experiences or simply listen. The group serves those currently in treatment as well as individuals navigating life after treatment. Meetings are facilitated by male staff members and may occasionally feature a guest speaker from the community. Light refreshments are provided. A Zoom option is available for those who cannot attend in person. Sessions take place on the second Thursday every other month.

AAN Bakers Doubles at King Pin Lanes in Rome brings teams together for eight games on moving pairs with no finals, and the highest eight game total determines the winner. The team entry fee is $100. Handicap is 90 percent of 220 with a maximum of 50 pins, and team average is calculated as team members’ total average divided by two. The highest book average of 23-26 applies, the 10 pin rule is in effect, and bowlers without an average bowl scratch. Places 1 through 6 cash, with $500 to first place based on 24 entries. All USBC rules are in effect, and the tournament director has final say on all matters. Brackets, pots, and eliminators are available.
