Explore the inner workings of a live honey bee colony on a guided hive tour in Long Island City, Queens. With a professional beekeeper leading the way, participants open a hive and examine frames one by one, learning what caretakers look for and spotting highlights such as fresh honeycomb, developing brood, and, when visible, the queen. Protective gear is provided, and guests may have the chance to hold a frame buzzing with bees while asking questions throughout the experience. When conditions allow, taste honey straight from the comb. The tour highlights the vital role bees play in the environment and clarifies how honey is made, offering simple ways to support pollinators. Tours meet at Sky Farm by the Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens and run for about one hour. Signed waivers are required for all participants, so plan to arrive about 15 minutes early to access the roof and complete paperwork. Tours are weather dependent. If rain is forecast or temperatures are below 65°F, email notifications to reschedule or cancel are sent 24 to 48 hours in advance. Tips for guides are appreciated but never required.

An all ages concert featuring Ringo Starr and his All Starr Band, a touring ensemble he launched in 1989 that brings together notable musicians for a celebratory live show. His solo career surged with a run of seven Top 10 singles starting with It Don't Come Easy and Back Off Boogaloo, followed by the hit album Ringo, which delivered Photograph and You're Sixteen and marked the first project since the breakup that included contributions from all the Beatles, though not at the same time. Over the years the All Starr lineup has welcomed artists such as Joe Walsh, Clarence Clemons, Nils Lofgren, Rick Danko, Levon Helm, Dr. John, Billy Preston, Jim Keltner, Paul Carrack, Sheila E., Colin Hay, Mark Rivera, and John Waite. The show draws on favorites from his time with the Beatles and his solo work, including With A Little Help From My Friends, Don't Pass Me By, Octopus' Garden, It Don't Come Easy, Don't Go Where the Road Don't Go, La De Da, Memphis in Your Mind, and Never Without You, and reflects the heart, humor, and seasoned musicianship that have long defined his performances.

Explore the roots of American paleontology on a multi-day field experience across Connecticut, Massachusetts, and New York led by Dino Ridge Education Programs Director Erin LaCount. The itinerary features the Yale Peabody Museum with time in its archives and collections, the Beneski Museum of Natural History and its collections, the Easthampton Dinosaur Tracksite where footprints are preserved in place, Dinosaur State Park, and the American Museum of Natural History. Participants engage with historic materials, examine tracks preserved in place, and learn how early discoveries and current research connect bones, footprints, and ancient landscapes to build a fuller picture of prehistoric life. Space is limited to 13 participants. The cost is $1,950, and airfare is not included.

Get up close to an active beehive during a guided tour in Long Island City, Queens. With a professional beekeeper leading the way, the group opens the hive frame by frame to learn about hive care, spot honeycomb, developing bees, and the queen, and understand how honey is made. Participants can safely hold a frame filled with bees and ask questions throughout. Protective gear is provided, and there may be a chance to taste honey straight from the comb when available. Tours meet at Sky Farm by Variety Boys and Girls Club of Queens and last about one hour. This hands-on experience offers one of the few chances in NYC to observe a live honey bee colony up close while gaining insight into the bees’ role in the environment and simple ways to support them. Signed waivers are required to participate. Please arrive 15 minutes early to reach the roof and complete paperwork. Hive tours are weather dependent. If rain is expected or temperatures are below 65°F, participants are contacted by email 24 to 48 hours in advance with rescheduling or cancellation information. Tips for guides are appreciated but never required.
