This celebration marks the culmination of a year of artistic growth at La Casita and features music by La Banda de La Casita, a dance performance by La Casita’s Danza Troupe, and a theatrical piece by La Casita’s Taller de Teatro. Light refreshments will be provided, and parking is free. Admission is free and open to all. For questions or to request accessibility accommodations, email lacasita@syr.edu or call 315-443-2151. Star Wars: A New Hope in Concert

The Syracuse Orchestra brings the original Star Wars adventure to the Oncenter Crouse Hinds Theater with a complete screening of A New Hope while John Williams’ Academy Award winning score is performed live in sync with the film. Sean O’Loughlin conducts, creating a cinematic concert that combines the excitement of the movie with the power of a symphony orchestra. For more than four decades, the saga has shaped film and popular culture through mythic storytelling, memorable characters, groundbreaking effects, and music that audiences recognize instantly. This program lets fans experience that world on screen with the score played by a live ensemble. Williams composed the music for all nine chapters of the Skywalker saga, beginning with the 1977 original that earned the Academy Award for Best Original Score, and his work for The Empire Strikes Back, Return of the Jedi, The Force Awakens, The Last Jedi, and The Rise of Skywalker also received Oscar nominations. The story follows Luke Skywalker as he leaves the desert planet Tatooine under the guidance of Obi-Wan Kenobi, begins his Jedi training, and joins the Rebel Alliance to rescue Princess Leia from Darth Vader and the Empire. Presented under license from Disney Concerts.
