Create a delicate piece of wall art at a hands-on pressed flower workshop hosted at SALT Restaurant and Bar inside the Collegian Hotel and Suites Syracuse. Guided by Eliza, participants select from a curated assortment of pressed flowers along with butterflies and moths, then arrange them into a custom design. Each piece is displayed in a locket-style brass frame with glass panels and a long chain for hanging. Several frame shapes will be available, including the style shown in the event photo, plus a limited selection of diamonds, hexagons, and rectangles. Frames measure roughly 4 by 5 to 4 by 6 inches, with a total hanging length of about 12 to 14 inches. The workshop takes place in a dedicated section of the restaurant. Food and drinks from SALT Restaurant and Bar can be purchased and enjoyed during the class, with options such as salads, appetizers, and burgers. Parking is available in the hotel lot. MISS Exhibition
An exhibition opening at Art in the Atrium in Syracuse presents MISS, an interdisciplinary collaboration between artist Jess Petrylak and delegates from the Miss Finger Lakes and Miss Upstate New York Scholarship Organization, a preliminary to Miss New York and Miss America. The work considers how women build, inherit, and perform identity through family lineage, cultural influences, childhood imagination, and the structures of pageantry. Anchored by behind-the-scenes photographs and materials collected during the regional Miss FLUNY and Miss FLUNY Teen competitions in January 2026, the presentation weaves delegate-made imagery, archival ephemera, poetry, and projection with a live set by DJ samdiowise. Together these elements view pageantry and the feminine experience not only as spectacle, but as a space to practice confidence, leadership, aspiration, and the making of new myths among young women. All proceeds from the exhibition benefit the Miss FLUNY Scholarship Organization. Living across Africa, Central Asia, the Caribbean, and the Middle East, they immersed themselves in local sounds, performed in diverse ensembles, and paired American roots traditions with their own original songs. Now back in the United States, the lineup features Hymie on drums and percussion, Brandy on bass, Jason King on guitar, and Joanne Perry on mandolin. Their music moves comfortably between styles and highlights layered vocal harmonies that carry stories with a universal feel. Their songwriting has earned recognition, including Outstanding Achievement in Songwriting from the Great American Song Contest and a finalist placement in the Mid-Atlantic Song Contest. A mainstay of the Central New York music community, Hymie has appeared at festivals and venues throughout the region, has performed with the Westcott Jugsuckers for over 30 years, and co-founded The Gonstermachers.

Covey Theater presents the first non professional staging for Central New York audiences of the Tony winning Broadway musical Dear Evan Hansen at the Everson Museum’s Hosmer Auditorium. The story follows a teenager with social anxiety whose longing for connection leads him to claim a friendship with a classmate who has died. Emails are fabricated to support the tale, a supposed note spreads online, and he unexpectedly becomes a public symbol for conversations about loneliness and friendship. As attention grows, he is pulled closer to the grieving family, drifts from his own mother, and begins a relationship with the girl he admires. The deeper the deception goes, the more he must choose between living inside the lie or telling the truth and risking everything he has gained. The musical earned six Tony Awards, including Best Musical and Best Score, and features a fast paced score by songwriting duo Pasek and Paul. The cast features Christian Almeida as Evan Hansen, Dani Ryan as Heidi Hansen, Maria Podbelski as Cynthia Murphy, Adam Fumarola as Larry Murphy, Zachary C. Thompson as Connor Murphy, Ilsa Denton as Zoe Murphy, Colin Nacion as Jared Kleinman, and Shakira Santos as Alana Beck. At the 443 Social Club, soul blues powerhouse Sugaray Rayford brings a message-driven performance shaped by timeless soul melodies, funky R&B grooves, and the grit of the blues. His ongoing work with producer and songwriter Eric Corne across the last three albums has led to major recognition, including a Grammy nomination for Somebody Save Me, Blues Music Awards for Soul Blues Male Artist and B.B. King Entertainer of the Year, and a follow-up, In Too Deep, that collected multiple honors such as Soul Blues Album of the Year. His newest release, Human Decency, centers on the idea that common ground is stronger than division, and its leadoff track, Run For Cover, earned strong notices from Q Magazine for its driving, blues-soaked force. Edge Strength and RecoveryIn-person Pregnancy, Birth and Breastfeeding Classes
Prepare for labor, birth, and the first days with your newborn in a welcoming, in-person classroom setting. The series is designed for pregnant patients who are 28 weeks along or more, and partners or other support people are welcome. There is no cost to attend. Registration is suggested but not required, walk-ins are accepted, and you are welcome to bring water and snacks. Sessions follow a four-topic rotation on the first four Tuesdays of each month, with no class on any additional Tuesdays, and the rotation begins again on the first Tuesday. The format is drop-in, so you can come to any topic at any point in your pregnancy, depending on your schedule, transportation, or child care needs. One session focuses on getting ready for the final weeks of pregnancy, recognizing signs of labor, and what to expect when you arrive at the hospital. Another explores the birth process, comfort and coping strategies, partner support, vaginal delivery, and immediate recovery after birth. A third covers common medical interventions, inductions, and cesarean birth, and includes a tour of the Labor and Delivery and Postpartum units. The fourth concentrates on the postpartum transition, newborn care, mood changes, and breastfeeding education. If possible, bring a support person and the education book from your OB provider, titled Your Guide to Pregnancy, Birth, and Parenting, a five chapter spiral bound book.

Armed only with a suboxone prescription and each other, they fight through one brutal night as mounting physical, mental, and emotional distress drives them to sift through shattered memories and search for where things fell apart. Shot on miniDV in Athens, Georgia on a $60,000 budget, the film is raw, direct, and unexpectedly funny. It has collected 12 festival honors, including Best Feature and Best Director at the Art of Brooklyn Film Festival and Best Actress at the Kanazawa Film Festival. Film Threat has lauded it as a standout depiction of addiction reminiscent of Requiem for a Dream.

At the NY State Fair, the Bigfoot specimen known as DACK returns for a free exhibition featuring the body along with newly unveiled artifacts. According to the organizers, more than 60,000 people viewed the body last year, and they say they will be on site throughout to meet attendees face to face, show the body, explain the discovery and listen to visitors’ Bigfoot stories. The organizers state that DNA testing at the Cornell Veterinarian Bio DNA Lab identified the specimen as 58.5 percent Neanderthal and 41.5 percent human, that the report was peer reviewed by a team of Japanese scientists who then produced a documentary, and that the body has been verified by the Six Nation Indian Tribes of New York, including the Mohawk, Oneida, Onondaga, Cayuga, Seneca and Tuscarora. They describe themselves as the only group with verified remains and the only ones providing public access to the body, emphasizing hands-on visitor involvement.

A highlight is the touring Deformed Exhibit, featuring real, rare specimens with medical anomalies, with combo ticket options available for those seeking early shopping access through VIP entry. Hands-on learning takes center stage in WOE Labs, where classes may include beginner-friendly taxidermy, rat skeleton articulation, and creating miniature diorama terrariums, and offerings can vary by city.
