Shawnee Township marks its 27th National Night Out at Heritage Park with a community evening of music, food, and activities. The Shawnee High School Band will march into the park to open with the National Anthem. Food options include hot dogs and brats grilled by chiefs and pulled pork sandwiches from Texas Roadhouse, with cold Pepsi products and water provided by Ferguson Supply. Sweet treats such as popcorn, cotton candy, mini donuts, and snow cones will be available. Attendees can enjoy bounce houses, an obstacle course, yard games, and a petting zoo, and community vendors and organizations will host booths with additional activities. Raffle tickets will be offered for chances to win a range of prizes and giveaways for both kids and adults. He once drummed in a punk and hardcore band and later served as road manager for Sublime With Rome, traveling the world and gathering the kind of outrageous stories few would share in a job interview. Freedman is also a creative mind behind the cult favorite animation group Tomorrow’s Nobody, collaborating on animated projects with Tom Segura, Theo Von, Adam Ray, Drew Lynch, Craig Conant, and Shapel Lacey. He has recently toured the United States with Craig Conant and performs regularly at Los Angeles institutions The Comedy Store, The Hollywood Improv, and The Laugh Factory. Their focus is on preserving the fine points of the songs while sharing the narratives with conviction, highlighting tight grooves, layered vocal harmonies, close ensemble interplay, and introspective lead vocals that reflect the essence of these recordings.

Party at Pangle Pavilion Concert Series: Vienna, the Billy Joel Tribute
Experience a high-energy tribute to Billy Joel as Vienna takes the stage at the Pangle Pavilion in the Greater Lima Region Park & Amphitheater. Led by Hal Stephens and backed by seasoned Nashville studio musicians, this seven-piece band covers classics from the 70s, 80s, and 90s, from Piano Man to Uptown Girl. Beer, seltzer, and other refreshments will be available for purchase, with $4 drinks and $2 water or pop. Attendees are encouraged to arrive early and to bring a blanket or chairs for comfortable seating. Kids under 13 are free when accompanied by an adult.

Rally For The Shield Car Show
Hosted by The Salvation Army, this community-focused car show brings people together to celebrate automotive passion while making a positive impact. Attendees can browse a showcase of classic and specialty vehicles, enjoy live entertainment, and see trophies awarded to the top 15 entries. Proceeds support The Salvation Army’s work for local families, including emergency aid, food assistance, and youth programs.

Community Drum Circle
A family friendly community drum circle invites everyone to take part in improvised music making. Bring a drum or any instrument you enjoy, and join in the collective rhythms. Shared percussion will be available for those who need it. The gathering centers on creating a welcoming, supportive space where people can express themselves musically and artistically in a natural way. A communal table will be available for optional contributions of snacks, drinks, and other food, with non alcoholic beverages welcome. For comfort, consider bringing a chair, yoga mat, blanket, or rug. Nothing is required beyond your presence. Look for signs to the amphitheater and meet at the Peace Grove beneath the pine trees.

The Lima Astronomical Society holds its monthly members meeting followed by a program and, weather permitting, public stargazing. The meeting begins promptly and usually lasts about an hour before the program starts. These activities are open to the public and are a good fit for anyone curious about astronomy or interested in learning more about the Society. On clear nights, attendees can observe through the dome telescope at Schoonover Observatory and spend time on the upper deck identifying constellations, locating planets, and watching for satellites. Attendees are asked to sign the visitor log upon arrival. Help is available for personal telescopes, and no prior experience is needed.
