Family events in North Ridgeville, OH

This weekly summer event pairs adoptable animals from foster homes with community visitors through relaxed meet-and-greets at the shelter. Attendees can interact with pets currently in foster care, learn how they behave in a home environment, and in some cases complete an adoption the same day to support thoughtful, lasting matches. Those interested in fostering can talk with the foster coordinator about how fostering saves lives, with quick sign ups available during the event to get started faster. Alongside the animal focused activities, local food trucks offer meals and treats in support of the shelter. Presented by Birchwood School of Hawken, this free outdoor movie series transforms Crocker Park’s Union Square Lawn, next to Regal Cinema, into an open-air theater for family-friendly films. Bring blankets and lawn chairs, settle in on the grass, and watch a feature beneath the night sky.

An open gym session at Gym Skills Cleveland gives kids a place to stay active, practice gymnastics skills, explore the equipment, and spend time with friends. Participants must be walking age or older. Children ages 2 to 5 require a parent to supervise, and those 6 and up can be dropped off. The cost is $15 for the first child and $12 for each additional sibling. Advance registration is required, and the session will not take place if no one is registered ahead of time.

A free community meal features a hot menu of shepherd's pie, a fruit cup, cucumber salad, bread, and dessert.
