Summer Vibes Paint Workshop

Capture the spirit of the season at the Summer Vibes Paint Workshop, a relaxed creative session priced at $35 and designed to help participants unwind while making art. Each attendee receives a curated paint kit centered on a summery theme with bright hues and playful patterns, and can choose from four different designs. A family-friendly evening at the ballpark features a Lake Erie Crushers game in support of a fundraiser, complete with fireworks and a 50/50 raffle. In collaboration with Fido's Companion Rescue, adoptable dogs from the partnering rescues will be at the game to meet. Corporate groups can access bulk ticket perks with optional add-on food or beverage vouchers, and purchases of 50 or more tickets include having the company name shown on the scoreboard. Participation and prizes for the 50/50 raffle do not require being present.

Under the direction of Joanna May Cullinan with music direction by Anthony Trifiletti, the story follows Mary Lennox, an orphan sent from India to Yorkshire to live with her withdrawn uncle Archibald and his son Colin. As Mary uncovers a neglected garden, she is guided by the Dreamers, figures from her past whose voices lead her through a journey of healing, forgiveness, and renewal. Plank moves comfortably between intimate small-group settings and the scope of larger ensemble work, and this performance leans into tight musicianship with a spontaneous, in-the-moment feel once the music gets rolling.

Summer Saturday Lakeside Yoga

A 70-minute vinyasa class at Port Lorain blends strength, balance, mobility, and neuroregulation through breath work. All experience levels are welcome, and modifications are encouraged. Participants are asked to bring a mat or two for extra cushion, a small yoga ball, resistance bands, two blocks, and a water bottle. The session concludes with yogi wipes made with water, coconut oil, castile soap, and sometimes essential oils. Drop-in cost is $10. If funding is received from Candy's Classes, the class is free as part of the United Way of Lorain County United We Sweat campaign. First responders, including police, fire, and dispatch, can attend at no cost.

Adoption Event

An adoption event with Furl 2 Furever Cat Rescue at Tractor Supply in Lorain offers the chance to meet cats looking for permanent homes and to talk with volunteers about adopting, fostering, and ways to support rescue work. Guests can learn about the organization’s mission and shop during their visit to help local efforts. Cats available for adoption have received veterinary care, are vaccinated and microchipped, and have been spayed or neutered, so they are ready to join new families. Even those not planning to adopt can gather information and share the cause with friends and family. Each successful adoption helps two cats, the one going home and the next one the rescue can bring in.

Designed for ages 8 and up, this art camp highlights bows, florals, and garden charm with a gentle, whimsical vibe. Campers will work with ribbon, paint, and mixed media to create decorative pieces with a polished finish. Each day centers on one substantial project, with additional time for smaller crafts, snack breaks, games, dance, stretching, and clean up. Planned projects include a painted tray, a teacup mosaic, a decoupaged and bedazzled initial, and wood bow wall art. Projects may be adjusted based on supply availability, and any examples shown are for inspiration rather than the final outcome. Tuition is $250 per child for the week and includes an art shirt, a water bottle, daily care, all necessary supplies, and a daily snack. A non-refundable $50 deposit is required at registration to reserve a spot. Invoices are emailed to registered families for convenient online payment, and limited-time registration changes allow moving to a different week or canceling and applying the deposit toward another project, event, or workshop at the studio.

Borromeo "Challenge Scholarship" Golf Outing

Since 2003, this long-running Borromeo golf outing has gathered players for a day on the course while raising room and board scholarship funds for first-year Borromeo Seminary students discerning the priesthood in the Diocese of Cleveland. Marking its 23rd year, the event is hosted at Red Tail Club, a highly rated Ohio course, and features an 18-hole scramble along with lunch and dinner. Participants can compete for prizes, take part in raffles, and enter special contests including putting and a $10,000 hole-in-one challenge. The day moves from registration with a boxed lunch to a shotgun start, then concludes with dinner, awards, and a raffle. These meet and greets offer a chance to see how animals behave in a home setting, learn more about them, and, when it is the right match, complete an adoption the same day for a smoother, more successful placement. Those interested in fostering can connect with the foster coordinator to discover how fostering saves lives and how to get started, with quick sign ups available so approvals can happen quickly. In addition to the animal meetups, guests can enjoy food and treats from local food trucks that support the mission. Whether the goal is to foster, adopt, volunteer, or simply show support, this event offers a friendly way to make a difference all summer long. Each week, the event page will share which animals are expected and which food trucks will be on site.

16th Annual Kerstetter 5K

In March 2010, the community lost James A. Kerstetter, a devoted son, husband, father, friend, and police officer. Later that summer, a 5K was created to honor his memory and carry forward his legacy. Sixteen years on, the Kerstetter 5K stands as a gathering focused on unity, remembrance, and community support, embraced by many individuals and organizations. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers. Placer medals will recognize the top three in each age group, including 17 and under, 18 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 64, and 65 and up.

Bring personal and confidential papers to the Amherst Public Library parking lot for free, on-site shredding. Shredding services will be provided using equipment from Lorain County Solid Waste Management. Each household may bring up to five boxes or bags. Staples can remain in documents, but remove paper clips, binder clips, spiral bound notebooks, and any other metal items, as well as batteries and electronics. All shredded paper is baked and then recycled into new, usable products. The truck has limited capacity, so the event may conclude early if it fills. Create a keepsake with your pet by making a unique paw print painting while supporting local animal causes. The event honors Sweet Cheeks, a rescue who saved a life from a violent intruder, lived to 16, and passed a few years ago. It celebrates that legacy through art and community giving. Dogs must be on leashes, and cats or other small animals need to remain in carriers for safety. Activities take place in an outdoor setting, with an intimate indoor area available for cats. Almost Taylor delivers a high-energy salute to Taylor Swift, spanning her early country era through her biggest pop hits with a live band and lots of sing-along moments for Swifties. From boy band nostalgia to modern pop, the show is packed with music, energy, and plenty of chances to sing and dance.

Reelin for a Reason Women's Walleye Tournament

Women anglers take the spotlight at this inaugural charity walleye tournament at Lorain Harbor Boat Club. Teams made up of one to four women compete for the best five-fish total, then gather for a festive celebration with food, music, raffles, and awards. Proceeds support Lorain County Safe Harbor and the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center. Boat registration is $100 and includes after-party access. All anglers on board must be women, with up to two men allowed to serve as captain and first mate. Men may navigate, rig gear, set lines, and unhook fish once landed, however only women may reel in and net fish for a catch to qualify. A mandatory captain’s meeting is held at the club in advance, where one representative per boat reviews safety procedures and tournament rules and picks up team materials. On tournament day, fishing takes place within a defined window and concludes with weigh-in at the Lorain Harbor Boat Club, alongside a catered luncheon, raffles, and the awards ceremony. Each team presents its five largest walleye by weight, following State of Ohio DNR regulations that require a minimum length of 15 inches. Trophies go to the top three teams by total weight, and a $1,000 Big Fish prize is awarded for the heaviest single walleye. Boats may launch from locations throughout Lorain Harbor. For safety, a minimum of four hours of fishing is required to complete the event. If weather prevents that window, tournament fishing is canceled while the luncheon and after-party continue as planned, and all entry fees remain donations to the beneficiaries.

Singing Since '76 - A Golden Legacy

Lake Ridge Chorus celebrates its 50-year legacy with a special performance at the Elyria High School Performing Arts Center. Founded in 1976 by Jean Knight in Elyria, Ohio, the chorus presents a musical journey through favorite songs, featuring Lake Ridge Legacy chapter quartets Blue Phoenix, Ring True, Siren Song, Good Company, and Fusion. Tickets are $20 for adults and $18 for students, and groups of ten or more are $18 per person.

8/11/26 Family Picnic & Membership Drive

AECPTA hosts a family picnic and membership drive at Schwartz Park, creating a welcoming setting for families to meet one another, learn about the PTA, and explore ways to get involved while enjoying dinner provided by the organization. The group will gather near the playground so children can play while adults connect and hear about plans for the year ahead. Kids can enjoy a face painter, bubbles, sidewalk chalk, sensory bins, and music. Families that complete AECPTA membership registration before the event concludes will be entered into a raffle for a special gift basket. Membership information will be available on site, dues are $30, and payment is accepted through Cheddar Up or in person by cash or check.

Rockin’ on the River brings a night of arena rock featuring E5C4P3 and Best of Times. E5C4P3, a widely recognized Journey tribute, revives the band’s biggest hits with meticulous accuracy and the feel of the Steve Perry years, including favorites like “Don’t Stop Believin’” and “Separate Ways.” Best of Times celebrates Styx with commanding vocals, layered harmonies, and the classics fans know by heart. Operation Care Package Ohio presents a free Back to School Bingo event for children and teens at Antlers Ballroom. Expect a welcoming afternoon of games, giveaways, and community spirit. A DEKA STRONG event is coming to Sandstone, built around ten functional fitness zones that emphasize strength, conditioning, grit, and mental toughness. Participants will tackle stations including the SkiErg, sled push, sled pull, burpee broad jumps, rowing, farmer’s carry, deadlifts, box step overs, medicine ball sit-ups, and wall balls. There is no running component, only focused work against the clock. The format is open to everyone, with times tracked and ranked nationally to provide a true fitness benchmark. It is designed for all fitness levels, making it a you-versus-yourself challenge that encourages training with purpose and pushing past limits. More details, including registration and cost, will be announced, and space will be limited.

Spartan DEKA teams up with Sandstone Fit Body Boot Camp for a DEKA STRONG roadshow that turns fitness into a game and celebrates progress. Take on ten functional training zones with no running, then log an official DEKA STRONG mark to guide training toward DEKA FIT 2026. Hosted at Sandstone Fit Body Boot Camp, space is limited.

2026 All Isshinryu National Championships

The 2026 All Isshinryu National Championships honors the legacy and vision of Master Tatsuo Shimabuku. The event takes place at the Avon French Creek YMCA in Avon, Ohio.
