Along the way, she finds unexpected romance with someone she once considered an adversary. At Stocker Arts Center in the Cirigliano Studio Theatre, this co-production with the LCCC Arts & Humanities Department presents a staging of The Fantasticks as part of Arts & Humanities Division performances and Broadway Sessions. With book and lyrics by Tom Jones and music by Harvey Schmidt, the production is directed by Joanna Cullinan with musical direction by Anthony Trifiletti. The story centers on a young couple and their two fathers who try to keep them apart, guided by the narrator El Gallo, who encourages the use of imagination. The couple experiences first love, separation, and a return to one another with a more mature understanding of love. Celebrated as the world’s longest running musical, this intimate presentation features simple costumes, a small musical ensemble, and minimal scenery to highlight the storytelling and ensemble cast. The score includes memorable songs that have become classics. Preview general admission is $15. Multiple performance dates are scheduled. At Park Lanes in Amherst, a 32‑bowler field competes on a single custom oil pattern to crown one champion. This debut signature tournament from BTA Bowling is built by bowlers for bowlers and showcases the 8:1 BTA Bourbon pattern. It rewards precise shot‑making and steady execution from the first frame to the last, yet remains very scorable so everyone can enjoy the challenge. The event is sanctioned by The Sport of Bowling USBC, and all required standards and rules will be in effect. Competition begins with a three‑game qualifier, then the top 16 advance to head‑to‑head bracket play. From there it is single elimination, so survive each match to move on. The path is simple… qualify, make the cut, endure each round, and finish on top. Payouts reach the top six, with $700 to the winner. The top seed earns an additional $100, the second seed receives $50, high game pays $50, and high scratch series pays $50. Scratch and handicap side brackets are available for $5, and there will be additional prizes and awards throughout the tournament. Entry is $75, handicap is 80% of 220, and the field is capped at 32 competitors. The champion takes home the BTA Park Madness Championship Belt. The tournament will also feature the official introduction of BTA staffers, along with professional photography and videography so participants receive high‑quality media from the day.

Dufay’s trailblazing approach to sacred music meets Josquin’s expressive nuance and finely crafted technique, illuminating how their work helped shape the musical language of the 15th and early 16th centuries. A pre-concert talk by Charles Edward McGuire, PhD, of Oberlin College & Conservatory, offers added historical insight. A portion of donations will benefit the Center for Arts-Inspired Learning, the concert’s charitable partner, which fosters creative growth in youth across Northeast Ohio. Season support comes from The Louise H. and David S. Ingalls Foundation and the Ohio Arts Council, with additional support from Trinity Cathedral in its role as Artist in Residence.

Class 2 courses span 30 gates, while Class 3 and any Class 1 courses are set at 20 gates. Rock Dock daily admission is 10 dollars, with no additional charge per class for the competition. Class 3 follows Non-Sorrca guidelines including a maximum of two axles with no motor on axle. Labeled tires must measure between 4.76 and 6 inches and pin tires are not allowed. Vehicles must use a frame rail or tube chassis. Class 2 requires a frame width front bumper and a flat or C channel chassis. Chassis frame rails must be at least one inch longer than the wheelbase. Two axles are allowed with no MOA and no rear steer. Labeled tires may be up to 4.75 inches and wheels up to 2.2 inches. Class 1 allows labeled tires up to 4.19 inches and requires a chassis mounted servo. Bodies and bumpers must be full width, at least as wide as the inside track width of the tires. A flat or C channel chassis with a flat skid is required. Two axles are allowed with no MOA and no rear steer. Scoring uses updated points that will be reviewed on site. A reverse adds 1 point, using a winch adds 3, a rollover adds 5, using a kinetic bungee adds 6, touching a gate marker adds 10, a reposition or hand of god adds 10, a forward reposition adds 20, and any gates not completed within the time limit add 20.

The Baldassarre Rock Orchestra delivers a rock-meets-symphony concert that fuses the energy of classic rock with the depth of orchestral sound, paired with vibrant lighting and showmanship. Expect symphonic renditions of 1970s favorites by artists such as The Beatles, Led Zeppelin, Deep Purple, Elton John, Jethro Tull, Grand Funk, Stevie Wonder, and Alice Cooper, along with original works by Carl Baldassarre. The ensemble is led by award-winning guitarist and composer Carl Baldassarre, joined by the string ensemble OPUS 216 and Mark Boals as lead vocalist. A Cleveland native who first gained recognition with the rock band Abraxas, Baldassarre has built a diverse recording catalog and has worked with the London Symphonic Chamber Orchestra and members of Tower of Power, Tears for Fears, Genesis, and Kiss. He is also known as The Professor of Classic Rock on YouTube, where he breaks down influential music from the 1970s.

The Taste of History 2026
Admission is free for this timeline-style living history showcase at Sandstone Village, which explores the rations and meals that sustained soldiers across different eras. Representations from all periods and sides appear, from military units to home front roles and camp followers. Field kitchens compete and share samples of historical dishes in exchange for attendee donations. The program features static exhibits, firing demonstrations, military surplus sellers, activities for children, and more. About 5,000 people attended the previous edition, and an even larger turnout is anticipated for the next. Reenactor and field kitchen registration is free, and vendor registration is $75. Presented in partnership with Lorain County Visitors Bureau, Amherst VFW Post 1662, Military History Preservation Group, and the Amherst Historical Society.

In March 2010, the community lost James A. Kerstetter, a devoted son, husband, father, friend, and police officer. Later that summer, a 5K was created to honor his memory and carry forward his legacy. Sixteen years on, the Kerstetter 5K stands as a gathering focused on unity, remembrance, and community support, embraced by many individuals and organizations. Awards will be presented to the top overall male and female finishers. Placer medals will recognize the top three in each age group, including 17 and under, 18 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 64, and 65 and up.

Women anglers take the spotlight at this inaugural charity walleye tournament at Lorain Harbor Boat Club. Teams made up of one to four women compete for the best five-fish total, then gather for a festive celebration with food, music, raffles, and awards. Proceeds support Lorain County Safe Harbor and the Cleveland Rape Crisis Center. Boat registration is $100 and includes after-party access. All anglers on board must be women, with up to two men allowed to serve as captain and first mate. Men may navigate, rig gear, set lines, and unhook fish once landed, however only women may reel in and net fish for a catch to qualify. A mandatory captain’s meeting is held at the club in advance, where one representative per boat reviews safety procedures and tournament rules and picks up team materials. On tournament day, fishing takes place within a defined window and concludes with weigh-in at the Lorain Harbor Boat Club, alongside a catered luncheon, raffles, and the awards ceremony. Each team presents its five largest walleye by weight, following State of Ohio DNR regulations that require a minimum length of 15 inches. Trophies go to the top three teams by total weight, and a $1,000 Big Fish prize is awarded for the heaviest single walleye. Boats may launch from locations throughout Lorain Harbor. For safety, a minimum of four hours of fishing is required to complete the event. If weather prevents that window, tournament fishing is canceled while the luncheon and after-party continue as planned, and all entry fees remain donations to the beneficiaries.
