Michael Daves & Jacob Jolliff

At West Art, upstairs in The Sanctuary, guitar and mandolin duo Michael Daves and Jacob Jolliff present a bluegrass program that honors Jim and Jesse and the Virginia Boys. Known for crystalline harmonies, fearless improvisation, and seamless back-and-forth, they revisit classics through their collaborative release We Like Jim & Jesse!, blending reverence for tradition with a contemporary spark. The album was captured without overdubs in a historic Brooklyn church hall to preserve the feel of two musicians gathered around a single microphone. Daves brings deep experience in the guitar-mandolin format, including a GRAMMY-nominated duo project with Chris Thile, while Jolliff’s mandolin work draws on Jesse McReynolds’ influential approach alongside his own distinctive voice. The pair has performed together in a variety of settings and tours as a duo across the United States, Canada, and Europe and the UK. Tickets are $26 for general admission, $22 for SFMS members, and $10 for students.

Learn to crochet with wire and beads under the guidance of instructor Kitty Savel at the Pennsylvania Guild of Craftsmen. This welcoming class is designed for beginners through intermediate makers who already know chain and single crochet stitches. Participants will create a statement necklace using 26 and 28 gauge wire and a mix of beads, including semi-precious stones, vintage pieces, handmade glass, and acrylic accents. The finished piece features a soft, lacy closure without a clasp that slips over the head and helps balance the weight for comfortable wear. Along the way, you will explore color and texture, practice crocheting with wire, and braid three strands to complete the design. Everyone will leave with a necklace ready to wear that reflects personal choices of color, shape, and texture. A complete materials kit is provided by the instructor, and aluminum crochet hooks plus jewelry wire cutters are available for use during the class. A materials fee of $25 is due to the instructor at the start of the session.

Leaded Glass - August 22 & 23

Intermediate stained glass artists can immerse themselves in a two day class focused on the traditional lead came method, taught by Master Artisan Dan Hayward of the PA Guild of Craftsman. The course explains how this time honored technique, common in large church installations, differs from copper foil work. Instead of foiling, each piece of glass is separated by lead came, and the panel is built sequentially from a lower corner to the opposite upper corner with the lead anchored along the way. Soldering occurs only where lead meets lead after the full panel is assembled, and the finish involves working a specialized cement under the edges of the came. The class is designed for participants with prior stained glass experience, especially those who have created copper foil panels and want to explore this older approach. Several patterns and a broad selection of glass are provided for selection, and makers with substantial experience may bring a self designed pattern for review in advance. Throughout, Dan offers step by step guidance and individual assistance through assembly.

Something Used Wedding Yard Sale Fall 2026

This specialty wedding yard sale brings together newlyweds, DIY makers, wedding planners, and small businesses to buy and sell gently used and handmade wedding items at budget friendly prices. Expect flea market style vendor tables featuring décor, card boxes, signage, wedding gowns and bridesmaid dresses, vintage finds, handmade pieces, and more, all aimed at helping couples create their day without overspending. Vendors keep 100 percent of their sales. Private party newlyweds and hobby or craft sellers can reserve a table for $30, with the option to add extra tables for $20 each that will be placed side by side. Commercial sellers pay $150. Fees are nonrefundable, and bringing small bills and coins to make change is recommended. Shoppers can choose between Early Bird and General Admission tickets, priced at $20 and $7 respectively, with no refunds. Because this event is very popular, lines may form and crowds can be large, and sellers may sell out before the event ends. Attending with a friend or family member can make loading purchases easier. If trying on gowns, wearing leggings or other fitted clothing helps, and avoiding makeup or heavy perfume is appreciated. Many vendors accept cash only, so having small bills speeds up purchases. Entry lines take place outdoors, rain or shine, so plan for the weather.

The Jane Austen Playlist: Love and Music of Regency England

Historic Rock Ford presents The Jane Austen Playlist in a program celebrating love and music in Regency England. Selections from the Austen Family Music Books are paired with theatrical narrations from Jane Austen’s novels, offering insight into the author’s world and the vital place of music in her life and writing. Themes touch on the musical accomplishments expected of young ladies in Regency society, set against scenes such as the drawing room at Netherfield, the music room of the Cole family, and the lively gatherings hosted by Sir John Middleton. The concert is staged on the Hand Mansion piazza with audience seating on the lawn. The Jane Austen Playlist is a historical music project founded in 2019 that brings the Austen family’s repertoire to life through digitized editions, companion recordings, and performances that blend music with dramatic storytelling. Created and directed by Laura Klein and performed by a cast of Lancaster-based artists, the ensemble presents this program in a sparkling, narrative-rich format. Reserved seating is $25, with a $18 rate for Rock Ford Members. Bring-your-own-chair seating is $12, with a $7 rate for Rock Ford Members. On-site parking is limited.
