Silent Run Show Series Late Summer I & II

A pair of single-day hunter shows recognized by the Middle Tennessee Hunter Jumper Association features the same slate of classes on both days. Offerings range from Walk-Trot Poles through a two foot six inch Derby, giving area riders plenty of chances to participate in a schooling format. Points accumulate across the series, with year end ribbons and high point awards presented by division, and all classes are eligible for MTHJA points. Saturday, August 8th - AVPA M/W Doubles - A, BB

Hyden Beach is hosting a men’s and women’s doubles tournament with A (intermediate) and BB (lower intermediate) divisions, open to both adults and juniors. Competition begins with pool play and continues into a single-elimination bracket, with the structure adjusted by the number of teams and divisions to allow for as many matches as possible. A minimum of five teams is required in at least one division, or in a combined division, for the tournament to run. AVPA membership is required, with Gold needed for national events and at least Silver for local tournaments. Registration capacity will be released based on demand. Walk-up entries are not allowed, and payment in advance is required to confirm entry. The format may change, and divisions may be combined if necessary.

Blanket Sewing for Children in Need

Sew quilted blankets that will be given to the Nashville chapter of Project Linus, helping provide comfort, warmth, and a sense of security to children who are seriously ill, traumatized, or otherwise in need. Participants should bring their own sewing machine, threaded and ready to use, and be confident with basic sewing skills. Sewing instructors will teach how to assemble five inch blocks in a simple nine patch layout, and precut blocks will be provided. Finished quilts will be donated to Project Linus. Baby Goat Cuddling & Farm Fun!

Enjoy a relaxed farm visit with plenty of hands-on moments. Cuddle baby goats, meet cows, chickens, and pigs, and get a look at a working goat dairy while learning about the animals that live there. THIS CLASS IS FULL 2026 - Vic Hood - Human Bust Carving Class

This three-day workshop focuses on carving a realistic human bust with guidance from Vic Hood, an acclaimed instructor who has earned numerous Best of Show honors and was named Wood Carver of the Year in 2011. Known for teaching around the country, he leads students as they choose any human subject, with portrait likenesses not permitted, and work primarily with mallet tools. Tuition is $240 plus the cost of the blank. Enrollment requires at least six participants and is capped at ten. Make checks payable to Leipers Fork Woodcarving Club and mail the $240 registration fee to Joe Holt. A place in the class is secured only after the fee has been received. This class is full.

This relaxed sewing and quilting weekend retreat in Spring Hill, Tennessee, roughly 45 minutes from Nashville, is designed for beginners as well as anyone returning to a machine after a long break. The emphasis is learning how to use your sewing machine without pressure, completing a simple and lovely project, and receiving step-by-step, hands-on support from start to finish. Beloved fairytale royalty is visiting Franklin, TN for a 90-minute, family-friendly meet and greet filled with stories, songs, dances, crafts, games, and more. Guests can look forward to ten interactive group activities that help make the experience memorable. The celebration begins with a grand introduction of the characters, then transitions into welcoming group games to help everyone settle in. Throughout the event, children enjoy continuous, personal interactions with every princess in attendance, with plenty of opportunities for hugs and photos. The final moments are set aside to ensure no one misses a picture. Attendance is limited per session to keep the experience personal. All guests need a ticket, and children under 12 months may attend at no cost with a paid adult or child ticket. Saturday, August 22nd - AVPA COED Doubles

Hyden Beach is hosting a coed doubles volleyball tournament featuring divisions for AA advanced, A intermediate, and B beginner players. Adults and juniors are welcome, and registration slots will open based on demand. Check-in will take place before play begins, and matches will start promptly. The competition will begin with pool play, followed by a single-elimination bracket. The exact format depends on the number of teams and divisions, and the goal is to provide as many games as possible. A minimum of five teams in a single division, or in a combined division, is required for the tournament to proceed. AVPA membership is required to participate. Players aiming for national events need a Gold membership, while those entering local tournaments need at least a Silver membership. Walk-up registrations are not permitted. Sign-ups remain open until the posted deadline, and payment in advance is required to secure a spot. The format is subject to change, and divisions may be combined if necessary.

ReRuns Are Fun Consignment Sale

This multi-day consignment sale features staggered access and special shopping opportunities for different groups. Sellers begin with drop off by appointment. Early shopping starts with volunteers and event workers in order of shifts completed, followed by consignors with separate windows for those with or without children. Designated presale access is offered to heroes and new parents, with heroes asked to present valid badges at the door. Heroes include active military members, veterans and their spouses, teachers including homeschool educators, health care workers, firefighters, and law enforcement. New parents include those who are expecting and parents of children under one. A ticketed presale is available at the door, and during that period heroes and new parents are admitted at no charge. Public shopping follows the presales and continues on subsequent days. A discount event then offers half price shopping, first for volunteers and consignors, then for everyone. The sale concludes with a Dollar Dash, where representatives of charities or foster homes receive first access to eligible items priced at one dollar, followed by a public Dollar Dash. Consignor pickup takes place at the end.

This two-day cottonwood bark carving class features instruction from brothers Andy and Aaron Mayer, experienced carvers from Colorado Springs who began carving in 2006, started teaching in 2017, have taught across the central United States, appeared multiple times in Woodcarving Illustrated, and earned several top competition awards. The class is currently full. Participants choose one project, either a bark cottage or a bark church. The cottage uses two pieces of bark that are joined for a nearly seamless fit, and if time permits a tree can be added to complement the house. The church option is more advanced, beginning with a bark blank in the basic shape of a church and focusing on techniques for crafting personalized details, using the student’s own ideas or reference photos provided in class. Students should bring a carving knife, a safety glove, a 3/32 v-tool, a needle file set that can be purchased from the instructor for $10.00, a pin vise with small drill bits, 1/8 and 1/4 number 1 chisels, and a 5/16 number 7 U-gouge. For the church project, a ruler, a drafter’s compass, and a large metal file are also recommended. Tuition for the two days is $130 per person, plus $20 to $25 for the bark. Enrollment is limited to a minimum of 5 and a maximum of 10 students. Checks should be made payable to Leipers Fork Woodcarving Club, and a place in the class is held only after the fee has been received.

Taking place at Andrews Cadillac, the event features awards for the top three overall men and women, plus top male and female finishers in age groups 18 and under, 19 to 29, 30 to 39, 40 to 49, 50 to 59, and 60 and older. Young athletes can take part in a 1k, with prizes for the top three in ages 6 and under, 7 to 9, and 10 to 12. Those who register by the early cutoff receive a complimentary T-shirt. Saturday, Sept. 26th - COED Quads Tournament

Hyden Beach is hosting a coed 4-on-4 volleyball tournament with A and BB divisions for both adults and juniors. Teams should include two girls and two boys, and if a team plays with three, at least one must be a girl. Players without a team can register as free agents and will be placed on a roster, with no payment due until they are added. Matches start with pool play and continue into a single-elimination bracket. The final structure depends on the number of teams and divisions, with an emphasis on getting as many games as possible. Rhonda Smith - Photorealistic Colored Pencil Workshop

Rhonda Smith of Hawley, Minnesota is a self-taught artist whose love of meticulous detail drew her to photorealistic colored pencil. She also works in woodcarving and watercolor and brings an adventurous spirit for exploring new techniques. Her classes feel like an artistic retreat with clear demonstrations, a calm and encouraging tone, and plenty of one-on-one attention. Over three days, participants dive into the methods that make colored pencil look lifelike. Step by step, you will build rich color through layering, create smooth transitions, and use light and shadow to add depth. Topics include blending approaches, choosing colors, rendering textures, and the small refinements that lift a drawing into photorealism. Questions are welcomed throughout, guidance is personalized, and you will finish a complete colored pencil project while gaining skills and confidence for future artwork. Tuition is $250 and includes paper, a photo reference, an outline, and blending materials. Enrollment is limited to 12 with a minimum of 8. Please bring a set of at least 72 Prismacolor Premier pencils or a comparable set, an electric eraser, an electric sharpener, and a small drawing board or foam core around 11 by 14 inches. Experience Yanahli Park in Maury County after dark on a lantern-lit hike. 41st Annual PumpkinFest

The Heritage Foundation of Williamson County's PumpkinFest returns to downtown Franklin with a full day of seasonal fun for all ages. Known as Middle Tennessee's largest family fall festival, it unfolds along Main Street and the neighboring side avenues. In 2025, attendance topped 110,000.
