Shadow Work: Working with Shame

Shame often operates in the background, showing up as doubt, stalled dreams, low mood, or the persistent feeling of not measuring up. This class looks at early experiences and cultural pressures that feed shame, then uses compassionate shadow work to trace it to its roots. Participants learn practical tools to heal, reclaim a sense of worth, and step into fuller potential. The approach is grounded in Jungian insights into the unconscious and the shadow. As part of the Shadow Work Series from Learn Heal Grow, this offering supports a deeper understanding of patterns, triggers, relationships, and the inner world, encouraging a shift from autopilot to more conscious, empowered living. Attend as a single class or as part of the series. Guided by Kayden Barker, a personal development mentor, Reiki Master Teacher, and mental health advocate who integrates formal psychological training with a personal healing journey, the class emphasizes lived practice and self compassion. The cost is $33, and preregistration is required.

Knox Xtreme Adventure Races

REV3Endurance presents the Knox Xtreme Adventure Races with a new course design and a fourth year milestone highlighted by the addition of a 30 hour option. The event takes place at Knoxville Adventure Collective and offers intermediate level challenges that blend navigation, paddling, trekking, and biking across South Knoxville and the Urban Wilderness. The 30 hour race features five core elements, including more than 20 miles on the water, greenway and road sections, urban trekking, and five distinct mountain bike courses. Total distance is expected to span roughly 80 to 100 miles, with over 20 miles of paddling, 12 or more miles on foot, and 60 or more miles on the bike. The route travels through locations such as Fort Dickerson Quarry, Stanley Lippencott Park, Baker Creek Preserve, Marie Myers Park, William Hastie Nature Area, Burnett Creek Easement, Forks of the River Wildlife Area, and Meads Quarry Park. Participants may compete solo or as a team, receive a map and basic rules, then set out to collect checkpoints by hiking, biking, and paddling. The course is organized into 5 to 6 legs and includes at least one mental or physical challenge, and clearing every checkpoint may not be possible. The 8 hour race offers a shorter test at the same intermediate level, covering about 20 to 30 miles. Expect more than a mile of paddling, 5 or more miles of trekking, and 20 or more miles of riding on a mix of mountain bike trails and pavement, with South Knoxville’s mountain biking and greenway trails in the mix. Participants can go solo or team up, use a provided map and guidelines, and navigate to as many checkpoints as possible within the time allowed. Results are determined by the highest point total.

Fountain City Community Concert

Celebrate local music at a community concert featuring the Fountain City Ramblers, with food and beverages sponsored by KnoxTN Today. This is a BYOC event, so please bring your own chair. Based in Fountain City, Tennessee, the Ramblers are an upbeat ensemble that values the restorative power of music and connection, supported by a set list that is always evolving. The group began in 2018 when mandolin and guitar player Tony Basillio and lead guitarist and singer Lance McCluskey, both students of singer and guitarist David Bivens at The Bop Shop in Fountain City, started playing together and bonded over styles ranging from bluegrass to the Beatles. They built a repertoire of hundreds of songs, from 80s favorites to acoustic interpretations of Led Zeppelin. They went on to perform around Knoxville and Maryville, including an appearance on the WDVX Blue Plate Special. During those shows they met singer and guitarist Lauren Wilson, who invited them to play a fundraising event, stepped up to sing a few numbers, and soon joined the band. Since then, the Ramblers have appeared on the Tennessee Theatre stage for Mighty Musical Monday, at Boyd's Jig & Reel, at The Morrisrown Arts & Bluegrass Festival, and at the 2023 Dogwood Arts Festival. In 2025 they were recognized as a winner in a folk band category in Cityview Magazine's Best of Best issue.

Write It Out with Shade Tree Therapy

Each session opens with a centering mindfulness practice to set intentions and encourage imagination. A guiding theme shapes the creative work, spanning topics from personal narratives to cultural expressions, and participants spend focused time developing a project of their choice.
