This training offers practical skills for recognizing and responding to mental health and substance use challenges among adolescents ages 12 to 18, including crisis situations. Designed for parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring community members, it reviews typical teen development and common concerns such as anxiety, depression, substance use, eating disorders, disruptive behavior disorders including ADHD, and conditions in which psychosis may occur. Participants learn a 5 step action plan to support young people in both urgent and everyday scenarios. Sponsored by the Steven A. Cohen Military Family Clinic at Centerstone, the class is provided at no cost to attendees and is valued at $170. Space is limited and registration is required. Lunch will be provided.
