Sam Bush headlines an evening of boundary-pushing bluegrass at Ryman Auditorium as part of the Springer Mountain Farms Bluegrass Nights at the Ryman, with Sister Sadie appearing as well. Pickin’ on the Plaza with Dan Murray (Grassy Creek) is also on the schedule. The band toured with Leon Russell, released a string of albums, evolved to include Bela Fleck and Pat Flynn alongside John Cowan, achieved chart success and Grammy recognition, then concluded at the height of its popularity. Bush went on to perform with Emmylou Harris’ Nash Ramblers and Lyle Lovett, earned multiple IBMA Mandolin Player of the Year honors, reunited with Bela Fleck in the Flecktones, and launched a solo career that includes several albums and a live concert film. He received the Americana Music Association’s Lifetime Achievement Award for Instrumentalist, and his influence resonates with modern bluegrass leaders such as Punch Brothers, Steep Canyon Rangers, and Greensky Bluegrass.
