Sycamore Shoals State Historic ParkGET OFF MY ROCK
A rain or shine micro crawler competition takes place at HobbyTown in a covered outdoor area, featuring multiple classes designed for a range of rigs and experience levels. Amateur 24th and 18th classes run courses with 10 gates plus a bonus and require SCX24 or FCX24 base rigs for 24th scale, and TRX4M, FCX18, or CR18P for 18th scale. Four wheel steer and front or rear dig are not allowed in these classes, while tire size and width are open, and electronics, motor, chassis, and body choices are unrestricted. Advanced versions of the 24th and 18th classes increase course difficulty to 12 gates plus a bonus with the same equipment allowances and restrictions. Hardbody Class requires a flat skid, tires up to 60 mm, and a body or truggy cage that covers both front and rear axles. Buddy Class pairs two drivers who must both finish the course using any rig up to 1/18 scale over 10 gates. A Youth Class is available for competitors 12 and under with 10 gates and no restriction on choosing 24th or 18th scale. The SCX30 Stock Class is limited to Axial SCX30 rigs and uses 5 inch gates. Stock bodies must remain, though accessories and spare tires may be removed if the included filler or tire delete parts are used, and there is no trimming of the interior roof glass. Brass components are not permitted except Injora brass steering links when upgrading to stronger servos such as Injora or Reefs. Wheel and tire changes are allowed with aluminum beadlock wheels only, without brass rings or weights. Amateur 24th and 18th classes use 7 inch gates, the Unlimited class also uses 7 inch gates, and all Youth gates are 7 inches as well. Scoring focuses on keeping points as low as possible. Contact with a gate is 5 points and that gate becomes dead, while in pro classes both markers remain live so hitting both counts as 10 points. Using a hand to touch, pick up, or flip a truck is 10 points each time. Returning to the pit to repair a truck is 20 points. Skipping or missing a gate adds 10 points. To protect fairness, any cheating can lead to a warning, an ended run, disqualification from a class, or suspension from future events. Before timed runs begin, the course is closed for gate setting, and only drivers who are called may be on the track during their runs. Restrooms are available on site along with power and a vending machine for snacks and drinks. Entry is cash only at sign-in and costs $10 per class. After the shop closes, the inside doors are not accessible and entry to the course continues through the gated outdoor area on the left side of the building. Parking is set up to keep front spaces available for store customers. Park farther from the storefront in the spaces near the HobbyTown lighted sign by the road or in the grass area on the left side of the building. Carpooling helps open more spots, and early arrivals parking in the grass should pull farther out so others can line up behind. Basic rules apply and may be refined over time, with updates posted at the outdoor crawler course area and in the store. Questions about the rules can be asked on site.

The Philosopher's HouseAwaken Sessions — Writer’s Room & Hook Challenge
Awaken Sessions hosts a collaborative writer’s room built around a hook-focused challenge for songwriters, musicians, and singers. This is neither a worship gathering nor a performance showcase, it is a working creative space. Participants are organized by role into small teams or one combined group based on turnout. Each team gets a set block to craft a hook or chorus idea, prioritizing spontaneous, in-room creativity over polish. By the close of the session, rough recordings of each hook are captured along with video of the process. The individual pieces are shared online, and the concepts that connect with people help guide what gets developed in future sessions. There is no expectation to complete full songs. The emphasis is on collaboration, chemistry, and thoughtful direction. The format is intentional and hands-on rather than drop-in, and capacity is limited to maintain a focused environment. Suitable for songwriters, musicians, and vocalists seeking a concentrated space to create together.

Bristol, TN/VAFolsom Prison Experience
Step inside the day Johnny Cash recorded At Folsom Prison with a fully immersive theatrical experience that rebuilds the tension, grit, and crackling energy of that pivotal moment. At that time, his personal life was strained, the hits had slowed, and studio sessions were stalling, so he took an unexpected gamble by capturing a live album inside the maximum-security prison. What seemed straightforward unraveled into a blur of nerves, strict security, and backstage turmoil, until Cash and the Tennessee Three stepped onstage and transformed that pressure into a performance that helped shape American music history. This production places you in the middle of the story from intake through roll call. You will serve your “sentence” as an inmate, feel the watchful eyes of the guards and the presence of the Warden, and share the electricity of a captive audience. Jay Ernest of Church of Cash portrays Johnny Cash, joined by Kat Perkins, Brad Erickson, Dan Hopman, Ryan Nelson, Zach “Poppa Bear” Norton, and Bronson Bergeson. The ensemble brings June Carter, the Statler Brothers, Carl Perkins, and the Tennessee Three to life. More than a typical tribute, it invites you to spend a night inside the prison concert that made history.

The Covered Bridge ParkON THE EDGE
Rain or shine, this micro crawler competition takes place in a covered outdoor area at HobbyTown. Sign-ups are on site. The course will close to allow staff to set gates, after which only the drivers called for their timed runs may be on the track for the rest of the day. Please park away from the front of the store, using the spaces by the lighted HobbyTown sign near the road or the grass area on the left side of the building. Carpooling is encouraged to maximize space. If you are early and choose the grass area, pull forward so additional vehicles can line up behind you. The spots directly in front of the store are reserved for store customers. There is a restroom on site along with power and a vending machine for snacks and drinks. Entry is paid in cash at sign-in and costs $10 per class. When the shop closes, the inside doors will be locked and access to the course continues through the gated area on the left side of the building. Competition classes include 24th and 18th scale categories for both amateur and advanced drivers. For these, rigs must match the SCX24 or FCX24 size for 24th and the TRX-4M, FCX18, or CR18P size for 18th. Four wheel steering and front or rear dig are not allowed. Tire size and width are open, and there are no restrictions on electronics, motors, chassis, or body type. Amateur courses feature 10 gates with a bonus, while advanced courses increase to 12 gates with a bonus. A Hardbody class requires a flat skid, tires up to 60 mm, and a body or truggy cage that covers both front and rear axles. The Buddy class pairs two drivers who must both complete the course using any rig up to 1/18 scale and includes 10 gates. The SCX30 stock class is limited to Axial SCX30s with 5 inch gates. Stock bodies are required, though accessories and the spare tire may be removed when the included filler or tire delete parts are used. Brass is not allowed other than Injora brass steering links, which are permitted when upgrading to an Injora or Reefs servo. Wheels and tires may be changed, but only aluminum beadlocks are allowed, with no brass rings or weights. A Youth class is available for participants 12 and under and includes 10 gates with no size restriction between 24th or 18th scale. In the amateur 24th and 18th classes, all gates, including bonuses, are set to 7 inches wide. The same gate width applies to the unlimited class and to the youth class. Scoring emphasizes precision. A gate hit is 5 points and renders that gate dead, allowing a reverse through it if needed. In pro classes both markers are live, so contacting both counts as 10 points. HOG, or Hand of God, adds 10 points any time a vehicle is touched or repositioned by hand, including on the shelf course if a vehicle falls. RTP, or Return to Pit, is a 20 point penalty if a break sends a vehicle back to the table for repairs. Missing a gate adds 10 points. Boundary rules are not in effect for this event. The objective is to finish with the fewest points. There is a strict policy against cheating. Runs can be ended and warnings, disqualifications, or suspensions may result, including for pairs who fail to record penalties while scoring each other. Basic rules are in place and will be expanded over time to keep things approachable for newcomers. Updates and event information are posted around the outdoor crawler course area and throughout the store.
