Teachers Pet Community Gathering

A potluck and pups gathering at Rooster Front Park celebrates Teachers Pet clients, their dogs, and the effort they have put in. Expect shared dishes, free refresher training, open Q&A, and time to connect over a shared love of dogs. There is no cost to attend, and participants are asked to bring a dish, side, or drinks to share. Monica will provide water, plates, napkins, and utensils, and will also bring a dish and a dessert. Every client who attends will receive an award, with categories that include class clown, most improved, most butts sniffed, and Teachers Pet. Owners receive awards as well. Those who are not yet clients are welcome to meet Monica and hear success stories. Sign up is requested so attendance and dogs can be noted. Pokémon Trading Card Day

Young Pokémon enthusiasts are invited to a kid-focused card trading meetup at Johnson City Public Library. Participants can trade Pokémon cards with other children, and other types of trading cards are welcome too. The gathering is planned for the amphitheater outside the Children’s Library, weather permitting. No registration is needed. Please keep your cards with you at all times, as personal collections are the responsibility of their owners.

Village Caregiving Spring Concert

A free concert for veterans and their families will be held at American Legion Post 49 Watauga. Tickets are requested to ensure an accurate headcount and can be obtained by contacting the phone number provided. Food trucks will be available at the venue.

Who Shot the Sheriff?

Step into an 1870s saloon for a family friendly western whodunit filled with action and humor. In Silver Bullet City, famed gunslinger Sheriff John Payne takes over and soon becomes widely disliked. When a supply wagon arrives, the sheriff is discovered gunned down, and a short list of suspects points to the wagon train. Follow the clues, weigh the motives, and see if you can uncover who pulled the trigger and save Silver Bullet City before it is too late. Presented at The Historic Jonesborough Visitors Center.

Danger in the Air

Above a quiet village, a vast wounded creature has come to a halt, its translucent body exposing inner chambers and the shimmer of treasure inside. From time to time, coins slip from its wounds, hinting at both riches and risk within. Onlookers watch with wonder and apprehension, questioning who will venture into this stricken being to uncover the secrets it carries from an unknown realm. This is a 0-level DCC funnel, and all necessities will be supplied to play.

Burning Bridges brings a live show to Stockyard with the musicians of Syren. DJ Hughz sets the tone before the band takes the stage.

JLJC Bag-A-Bargain

The Junior League of Johnson City brings back its Bag-A-Bargain at the Old Fairmont Gymnasium. Early entry is $10 and includes the first bag at no cost, with additional bags available for $5 each. General admission is $5, and bags are $5 each. Furniture and other large items are priced separately. If you have items you no longer need, donations help support leadership opportunities for women and give back to the community. Flyers in the event share what is being accepted and where to drop off. Leonid & Friends

Leonid & Friends is an 11-piece ensemble led by founder Leonid Vorobyev that began as a studio tribute to Chicago, created by musicians for musicians. Early videos drew wide attention, and interest grew further when Chicago featured their work on its official site. The band now performs faithful versions of songs by Chicago, Earth, Wind & Fire, Blood, Sweat & Tears, the Ides of March, Stevie Wonder, Steely Dan, and Deep Purple, along with original compositions. Their audience includes more than 1.2 million followers and over 300 million video views, and they have played more than 400 shows across the United States.

Peppermint Farm Craft Fair and Farmer's Market

Peppermint Farm in the Boones Creek area of Gray, Tennessee is opening a Spring and Summer craft fair and farmer's market, and the organizers are currently accepting vendor applications. To protect applicants, they caution against scams and will not send unsolicited email invitations. Payments are accepted only through a Square invoice or in cash at the event, not via Zelle, PayPal, or Cash App. Peppermint Farm began as a horse boarding stable established by the owners’ family in 1989. The event is organized by Robert and Lindsey Willis of Clarktown Creations to support fellow crafters and small businesses. Art·Struck Festival

Downtown Johnson City becomes a hub of creativity as this festival returns with hands-on art experiences, live performances, and opportunities to discover and collect work from more than 50 art vendors. Families and art lovers will find activities for every age alongside demonstrations and pop-up showcases throughout the day. Watch artists transform 4-by-4-foot sidewalk spaces during a chalk art competition inspired by the theme “Flora,” and take in a vibrant series of dance pieces in the Cultural Movement Show featuring Meraki Movement Studio alongside other groups. Large-scale printmaking comes to life when a road roller presses an original design carved by artist Katie Ries into oversized prints, with limited edition pieces available. The Cattywampus Puppet Council teams up with the Knox Honkers & Bangers brass band for giant puppet marches and roaming performances, while four local artists create graffiti-style works during the Street Art Throwdown that will be displayed temporarily in downtown. Keep an eye out for the towering East Coast Giants stiltwalker and look up for the Twirling Twins as they perform aerial acrobatics. Creative stations invite participation all day, including free make-and-take silk screen printing with original designs from Crystal Cat Design Co. and a collaborative community chalk mandala guided by Amazing Street Painting. Throughout it all, the Granite Goddess living statue adds a touch of wonder as she shifts from stillness to surprise.

Woolly Days & Colonial Gardening Days

Step into the past as historic gardens provide the setting for a family-friendly festival that blends colonial heritage, horticulture, and community fun. Explore restored garden spaces on guided walks that highlight planting traditions and techniques from the colonial era. Costumed interpreters share the past through demonstrations, storytelling, and interactive displays. Hands-on workshops invite participants to try traditional gardening methods and crafts inspired by colonial life, offering engaging experiences for all ages. Live performances feature period music and folk entertainment that add to the festive mood, while local vendors offer seasonal treats and artisanal fare. It is a full day of learning and enjoyment surrounded by the charm of colonial gardens.

Bluff City Spring Vendor Market

Hosted by the Bluff City Family Committee, this second annual spring vendor market takes place at Bluff City Little League. The list of participating vendors will be announced. Prospective vendors can apply through the committee’s website, and approved applicants will receive a payment link. There is a $25 donation setup fee. To avoid scams, vendors should communicate only with official Bluff City Family Committee members and event hosts.

Spring Nature Hike: Plant and Mushroom Hunt

Explore a woodland trail on a 2 to 3 mile nature hike centered on discovering plants and mushrooms. The route includes a gentle climb and descent, and some stretches may be wet or muddy. 40th Annual Exchange Place Spring Garden Fair, Kingsport, TN

Now in its fourth decade, this long-standing celebration is the region's longest-running garden fair. A historic 19th century farmstead comes alive with thousands of plants, live demonstrations of springtime work around the farm, and the sharing of practical garden and farming knowledge. Handmade art for the garden adds creative flair alongside the greenery, with additional features spread across the grounds. The result is a blend of history, horticulture, and craft that captures the spirit of the season.

Exchange Place Spring Garden Fair, 2026

Now in its 40th year, the region’s longest-running garden fair returns to Exchange Place Living History Farm with a wide selection of plants, heritage skills, and a welcoming farm atmosphere. Thousands of plants are available to purchase, including perennials, annuals, trees, and shrubs, with a special focus on native species, herbs, and heirloom varieties such as many kinds of heirloom tomatoes. Garden-related arts and crafts round out the offerings. Heritage breed animals and demonstrations showcase the spring work of an 1850s farmstead as volunteers shear sheep, spin and weave wool, cook over an open hearth, and shape iron at the forge. Traditional music and foods contribute to the experience. Gate admission is $5 for ages 12 and older and free for children under 12. Tickets are not sold in advance. Proceeds support animal care, educational programs, and the restoration and upkeep of a site listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Exchange Place is a nonprofit, volunteer-run living history farm and educational facility dedicated to preserving and interpreting mid-19th century farm life in Northeast Tennessee. A walk in the Tri-Cities of Tennessee brings people together in support of a world without ALS. Organized by the ALS Association, it is held at the Kingsport Chamber of Commerce.

Evening Breeze Ranch Horse Show

Evening Breeze Ranch Horse Show launches the 2026 series under a new name while maintaining a welcoming, family friendly atmosphere with a professional touch. The event supports newcomers with encouragement for a full horse show experience and offers experienced riders strong competition with payback classes at every show. Divisions include Short Stirrup, Rookie, Youth, Adult and Open with payback, and ranch working horses can enter Flag Class, Ranch Boxing, Ranch Roping and Ranch Cutting with Pen. A membership option allows exhibitors to accumulate points toward show day awards such as Versatility Ranch Horse Champion and Reserve Champion, as well as Cow Class Champion and Reserve. Thanks to sponsor support, each show will include random added prizes, and High Point end of year awards will feature custom buckles. Across the season, professional judges with backgrounds as exhibitors, trainers and judges provide well rounded evaluations. Flaming Aces Distillery hosts a birthday celebration honoring JB Rader, known as The Legend, featuring food, live music, handcrafted spirits, and specialty cocktails. Dawg Gone Good will serve food on site, Jason Ronald Gordon will perform live, and mixologist Dena will be behind the bar with signature craft cocktail creations, including birthday drink specials made with the distillery’s small-batch spirits. Lake Meadows Community Cornhole Tournament for Charity.

This bring-your-own-partner cornhole tournament at Lake Meadows on Boone Lake features an entry fee of $40 per team and guarantees five games for every team. Competition starts with three preliminary rounds, followed by seeding into top and bottom tier double elimination brackets with a 60/40 cash split between the brackets. Fifty percent supports the fight against prostate cancer. Additional prizes are planned, including a $50 Ace Hardware gift card. Complimentary hot dogs and hamburgers will be provided. HobbyTown hosts a rain or shine micro crawler competition in a covered outdoor area, with classes and rules recently updated and more adjustments possible. When the course is closed for gate setup, only drivers who are called for their runs may be on the track. Parking is requested away from the storefront, either by the lighted sign near the road or in the grass on the left side of the building. Carpooling is encouraged to free up spaces. If using the grass and arriving early, park farther out so others can line up behind. Front spaces are reserved for store customers. On-site amenities include a bathroom, power, and a vending machine for snacks and drinks. Entry fees are collected at sign in, cash only, $10 per class. After the shop closes, access to the course continues through the gated area on the left side of the building. Competition classes include standard and advanced 1/24 and 1/18 categories. The 1/24 class uses SCX24 or FCX24 sized rigs, and the 1/18 class uses TRX4M, FCX18, or CR18P sized rigs. In these classes there is no four wheel steering and no front or rear dig. Tires may be any size or width, and there are no restrictions on electronics, motors, chassis, or body style. Advanced 1/24 and 1/18 add more gates and count each reverse as a one point penalty. Hardbody requires a 7 degree skid to remain podium eligible, permits tires up to 60 mm, and calls for a body or truggy cage that covers the front and rear axles. Buddy pairs two drivers and both must finish, runs 10 gates, prohibits four wheel steering, and allows any rig up to 1/18 scale. SCX30 Stock is limited to Axial SCX30s and uses 5 inch gates with a bonus gate. Stock bodies must be retained, though accessories and the spare tire may be removed if the included filler or tire delete parts are used. No trimming of the roof’s inner glass is allowed. No brass components are permitted, except Brass Injora steering links when upgrading to an Injora or Reefs servo. The stock ESC may be linked to a Spektrum radio. Wheels and tires may be changed, but no brass rings or weights are allowed, only aluminum beadlocks. Youth is for participants 12 and under and uses 10 gates, with no restriction on vehicle size between 1/24 and 1/18. For Amateur and Unlimited 1/24 and 1/18, as well as Youth, all gates are 7 inches wide including bonus gates. Scoring follows these guidelines. Hitting any part of a gate marker is 5 points and kills that gate, and in pro classes both markers remain live, so contacting both sides is 10 points. Using a hand to pick up, flip, or otherwise touch the truck is a 10 point penalty each time, including on shelf sections where a fall counts the same. Returning to the pit for repairs adds 20 points. Skipping or missing a gate adds 10 points. There are no boundary penalties at this event. The objective is to finish with the lowest total points. Fair play is enforced. Cheating or helping another participant avoid penalties can lead to a warning, a run being ended, disqualification from a class, or suspension from future events. Updates and class details are posted at the outdoor crawler course area and throughout the store.

Settle into a cozy creative workshop centered on melt and pour soap making. Hands-on time explores blending ingredients, fragrances, and personal intention to craft custom bars to take home. While the soaps melt and set, participants unwind with a savory lunch, sweets, and warm herbal tea. There are also a few pours to sip during the creative break and conversation. This experience suits anyone who enjoys handmade beauty, friendly connection, and creating something to keep. Space is limited.

Stained Glass: Glass Panels

Learn traditional stained glass techniques from start to finish, and customize a unique piece using a variety of glass colors, textures, and transparencies. You will learn how to cut glass, grid it to fit a pattern, apply copper foil, and solder it all together. This class is for beginners, and anyone over the age of 10 is welcome. Those under 18 must be accompanied by a guardian. Please wear close-toed shoes and natural fibers like cotton or wool, and pull back long hair.

Witness unprecedented images of the Suns dynamic surface in full dome format. The show will conclude with a tour of the current evening sky using the Zeiss ZKP-4 optical star projector. The show is approximately 40 minutes.

BIRTH Express | Johnson City — High Country Doulas

This class offers expectant parents foundational knowledge regarding childbirth and introduces the role of a doula. Class discussion includes the stages of labor and coping techniques for each, when to go to the hospital and what to expect, navigating early labor, medical pain relief choices, communication with your partner and the medical team, and intervention options. The class fee is $65 per couple.

Teen Homework Cafe

Teen Homework Cafe provides a welcoming study spot in the Library's Teen Space where teens can focus on papers and projects alongside friends. Library staff are available to help ages 12 to 18 find research materials and other resources. Snacks are provided.

Junior Writers

The new Junior Writers series begins with Create a Comic, a creative workshop focused on storytelling through comics. Kids will craft original characters, write dialogue, and shape a comic of their own as they explore the basics of narrative and voice. Recommended for ages 6 to 12.

Graphic Novel Club: Novels in Verse

At the Jonesborough Library, children ages 8 to 12 are invited to a welcoming program centered on graphic novels. No advance reading is expected and no registration is needed. Participants will hear brief presentations about graphic novels, talk about their own favorites, join in creative activities, and connect with other kids who enjoy the same kinds of books.

Teen Book Club

Geared toward ages 12 to 18, this teen book discussion focuses on Sally’s Lament by Mari Mancusi. A limited quantity of copies may be picked up at the library and are available while supplies last.

Slow Flow (All Levels)

The first Slow Flow session offers a welcoming pace guided by Rhonda and is open to all experience levels. The format features 60 minutes of practice followed by a 15 minute savasana for rest. Drop-in is $10. Capacity is limited to 20 mats, and spots can be reserved with prepayment via Venmo or PayPal. As the program develops, more mats, blocks, and straps will be available. For now, bringing personal props is appreciated. This is a zero-pressure environment where participants are encouraged to meet themselves where they are, in any attire and at any age. There is no emphasis on performance, only movement, breath, and space to simply be. More details will be shared soon.

Crossroads Craftworks hosts an open mic for stand-up comedy where anyone can step up to the microphone or relax in the crowd. Audience members pay a $5 cash cover, and comedians get in free. Down Home Takeover

Students from the ETSU Bluegrass, Old-Time, and Roots Music program take over the Down Home in Johnson City, Tennessee with several evenings of live performances. Each night presents 5 to 7 different student-led groups spanning bluegrass, old-time, Celtic, country, vocal ensembles, and spacegrass. Everyone is welcome to attend. Admission is $15 per night, and students with a valid ID are admitted free. Tickets can be purchased online or at the door. For those who cannot be there in person, the concerts will be streamed on Facebook Live.

StoryTown Radio Show: A Country Boy with a Dream, Jimmy Neil Smith Stories

The StoryTown Radio Show presents a program at the McKinney Center celebrating Jimmy Neil Smith, a Jonesborough native whose passion for storytelling helped shape the town. Smith taught journalism at Science Hill High School, launched the Storytelling Festival in 1973, and later served as mayor, helping turn the historic town into the destination it is today. The program features memories from co-workers, family members, fellow storytellers, former students, and others who knew him. Music for this production is provided by the Science Hill SteelToppers, directed by Mr. Tao, appearing on the Radio Show for the first time. The ensemble is part of the Topper Band program at Science Hill High School and showcases student talent on steel drums with energetic performances. Tickets are $10. The show is recorded for broadcast on local NPR station WETS 89.5 out of Johnson City. Mandarin Language Class

Explore the foundations of Mandarin in an absolute beginner class for those starting from scratch. As the most widely spoken first language, with more than 941 million native speakers, Mandarin is useful for engaging with Chinese business and politics, studying culture, or simply enjoying language learning. Participants will learn to read and pronounce pinyin, build basic grammar and everyday vocabulary, begin recognizing and writing some characters, and practice short introductory conversations. Each session begins with storytime, then moves to the play pool with a parent in the water. A Water Safety Instructor certified by the American Red Cross shares age-appropriate water safety tips and guidance during the swim. This recurring program takes place at the Kingsport Aquatic Center. Daily admission is $3 for Kingsport Aquatic Center members and $4 for YMCA members and nonmembers of the Aquatic Center. A special reading and book sale highlights Had I a Dove: Appalachian Poets on the Helene Flood, with poets sharing work from the collection. Eleanor Hjemmet adds a musical moment by singing her song from the anthology while playing guitar. Proceeds from the anthology support relief efforts connected to Helene. Danita Dodson, whose poetry grows out of Northeast Tennessee, is the author of Trailing the Azimuth, The Medicine Woods, and Between Gone and Everlasting. Her work appears in publications such as Salvation South, Women Speak Anthology, and Untelling, and she received the Poetry Society of Tennessee’s 2024 Best of the Fest. David Winship, a retired public school educator from Bristol, Tennessee, directs the Sign of the George Letterpress at King University, supports Appalachian heritage and music education, and issues an annual poetry chapbook for family and friends; he raised his family in the Damascus, Virginia community, which was significantly affected by Helene, and has written for news outlets with dramatic works also staged. Ann Shurgin, an Elizabethton native with deep Southern Appalachian roots, built a career in journalism and communications in Texas before returning to her childhood home; she is a member of the Southern Appalachian Writers Cooperative and the Appalachian Studies Association, and While the Whippoorwill Called is her debut poetry book. Editor and poet Hilda Downer, the inaugural High Country Poet Laureate, is the author of four collections with a forthcoming chapbook, Seeds of Gems and Metals. Her Sky Under the Roof earned a Nautilus Gold recognition in Books for a Better World, and she edited Had I a Dove for Redhawk Publications, which received the American Writing Award for Poetry Anthology.

Book Babies Story Time

Explore Sabine Hill State Historic Site on a guided tour of the stately home established by Mary Patton Taylor, widow of Brigadier General Nathaniel Taylor. A relaxed potluck brings together veterans, families, volunteers, supporters, and artists for good food and conversation. Attendees are encouraged to bring a dish to share and, if they wish, games to spark some laughs. Veterans and family members can spend time on an art or craft project of their choice. An outdoor patio offers a spot to enjoy the fresh air when the weather is pleasant, and a cornhole set is available for friendly play. Girls on the Run 5K

Girls on the Run Northeast Tennessee presents a spring 5K at Bristol Campground and Event Parking, celebrating a program that fosters leadership, community, confidence, friendship and healthy conflict resolution alongside a love of movement. Before the run, look for nail painting, hair styling, photo opportunities and other activities. Runners will start in waves, and the course is a color run, so expect a splash of color and a little mess. Program participants do not need to register and will meet up with their teams upon arrival, with coaches providing what is needed. Running buddies and members of the public must register, and bibs and packets will be available for pickup before the start. Registered public runners are entered into a giveaway. Registration fees directly support the participants, and donations help provide scholarships, shoes, medals, snacks and more. Friends and family are welcome to cheer on the runners. The event takes place rain or shine. Volunteer opportunities are available.

ART BAR

A mellow, craft-forward evening with low lighting and an easy pace, ArtBar centers on creativity without pressure or perfection. Choose from a rotating menu of projects, bring your own beverage, and enjoy an adults-only setting while the kiddos sit this one out. No reservations are required, and there is a one-craft minimum. Sample offerings change regularly. Free printing is available when you bring a shirt or tote, featuring logos from Crossroads Craftworks or Made On Elk. Five-dollar options include working on a project you bring, making friendship bracelets, coloring from custom sheets, or handbuilding with clay. Ten-dollar choices include trying the wheel with one pound of clay, painting a canvas, or DIY screenprinting on apparel you provide using small-batch designs. Twenty-dollar projects include crafting a tiny pottery dish, creating dog paw print ornaments if you bring your pup, or shaping your own design with a ball of clay. Paint-your-own pottery is also available with premade pieces priced from $25 to $40.

“Even if…” Art Opening

An opening reception and art story highlights the newest work from local artist Karen Zimmerman. The series comprises six oil on panel paintings that pair birds with flowers, aligning with her focus on rural landscapes and nature’s beauty. The event celebrates local art and the natural world it portrays.

Latino Night

Latino Night at Mi Pueblito Mexican Grill TN features a dynamic playlist of English and Spanish hits that set a lively tone for the evening. Enjoy the upbeat atmosphere while margaritas are served throughout the night.

Awaken Sessions — Writer’s Room & Hook Challenge

Awaken Sessions hosts a Writer’s Room centered on a Hook Challenge, bringing songwriters, musicians, and singers together to create in a focused, collaborative setting. It is neither a worship service nor a performance. It is a working creative space. Participants will be grouped by strengths as writers, musicians, or vocalists, forming small teams or working as one collective depending on turnout. Each group will have a set window to shape a hook or chorus idea, aiming for raw, in-the-room creativity rather than a polished result. At the close, the hooks will be recorded in a simple session style, with video captured throughout the process. Each hook will be shared online, and the ideas that gather the most momentum will help guide what is developed in future sessions. There is no pressure to complete full songs. The emphasis is on collaboration, chemistry, and discernment. This gathering is designed for active participation rather than casual drop-ins, and space is limited to protect the creative environment.

¿Hablas Español? Spanish Conversation Club

Practice conversational Spanish in a relaxed setting with a group that welcomes every level, even complete beginners. Most gatherings take place in the Classroom and Meditation space on the second floor, while First Fridays rotate among different local restaurants to offer a chance to practice over food and drink. Attached at the Heart: 10-Week Parenting Program – Available In-Person or Online

A 10-week parenting series offered in person or online provides practical guidance for those expecting a baby or caring for young children. Sessions meet weekly, with the option to attend on Mondays online or on Fridays either online or at the Parenting Sweet, and participants can switch between formats as needed. The program focuses on building strong, loving connections and covers topics such as the distinction between bonding and attachment, how a caregiver’s own upbringing influences parenting, key stages of infant and child development, the effects of stress on the developing brain, positive discipline strategies, nurturing sleep routines, and ways to balance parenting with self care and relationships. The setting encourages questions, sharing, and growing confidence. Thanks to grant support, participation is free. The series is led by Samantha Gray, coordinator for the Appalachian Promise Alliance Education Network and Parenting Sweet, a parenting educator with more than 25 years of experience who has taught classes, developed programs, and written extensively on birth, attachment, feeding, sleep, discipline, balance, and child development.

Trout in the Classroom Release

This annual Trout in the Classroom release day brings students outdoors to return the trout they have raised to the river while learning about stream ecology through hands-on educational stations. Organizers are seeking around a dozen volunteers to help facilitate activities, assist with releasing trout fry, and share knowledge about trout habitat. Prospective volunteers are asked to register in advance.

Bites by the Bridge - May

Bites by the Bridge returns as a monthly outdoor food truck court at Covered Bridge Park in Elizabethton. In its third year, each installment brings a rotating mix of local trucks offering lunch, snack, and dessert choices, with tents and tables on site for added comfort. Lawn games are available for guests of all ages. This edition features Taco51, Big Boy’s BBQ & Grill Only Page, EZ Squeezy, The Early Bird Coffee Co., and Flippin’ Fantastic- Pancakes with a Twist. Set in the courtyard, The Fleur Cottage Flower Cart offers a calm, garden-inspired moment that aligns with the reflective spirit of Philosophers House and its focus on mindfulness and community. Every stem is grown on a small Tennessee flower farm without herbicides or pesticides, then cut 24 to 48 hours beforehand to keep blooms fresh while supporting earth-conscious practices. Water-filled buckets display focal flowers, fillers, and foliage that follow the rhythm of the seasons, from spring ranunculus and snapdragons to summer zinnias and dahlias, and into autumn with celosia and eucalyptus. Guests can build a bouquet with gentle guidance on stem selection, color balance, and simple design, or choose a ready-made option. Market hand tied bouquets are $30. DIY sets are available with 5 stems for $15 or 12 stems for $30. Payment is easy, just scan the Fleur Cottage QR code on the cart and pay from a phone. With soft ribbons, natural wraps, and curated textures, the cart becomes a subtle artful presence that complements warm wood tones, quiet conversations, and the cozy feel of the space. Thoughtful and sustainable, this pop up brings a quiet spark of joy and intentional creativity to the heart of The Philosophers House, blending flowers, tea, and community.

Blazing Dominion Premiere!

This premiere event at CardFox runs in the Advanced format, using Swiss rounds scaled to the number of participants. Entry is $22.50 and includes five booster packs and a Field Center card. Every entry is also placed into a drawing for a game mat and a promo card. Prizes extend to the top finishers, with promo mats awarded to both first and second place.

Bracket 3 Commander event

Compete in a Commander tournament that uses Swiss pairings, with three or four 75 minute rounds based on attendance, followed by a top four cut. The entry fee is $25. Up to three game changers are permitted, decks are capped at $500, two card combos are not allowed before turn six, and king making is prohibited. Prize support pays out to the top four, with $250 in store credit or $200 in cash available.

The Force Fest

Downtown Jonesborough will come alive with a galaxy of fun as the Jonesborough Area Merchants & Service Association hosts a Star Wars themed celebration across participating shops and venues. Look for themed treats and brick-built character figures in stores, take on a townwide bounty hunt, watch film screenings at the Jackson Theatre, enjoy food trucks, and try a Jedi Training Course alongside additional themed activities. The 501st Legion, the Rebel Legion, an R2-D2 inside the Jackson Theatre, and the Mandalorian Mercs are part of the experience. Costumes are encouraged, with a contest featuring Best Youth (ages 0 to 12), Best Teen (13 to 18), Best Adult (18 and up), Most Creative, and Best Pet categories. Tickets cost $20. JAMSA is a volunteer-driven group of local business owners and community members dedicated to supporting area merchants and the growth of Jonesborough.

Derby Day Duel

Derby Day Duel brings the excitement of the Kentucky Derby to Johnson City Country Club with race coverage on large screens in the ballroom and the refreshed lounge. After the final race, the evening shifts to entertainment with a lively dueling pianos show. An individual ticket is $100 and includes Derby-inspired hors d’oeuvres. Festive hats and classic Derby attire are strongly encouraged.

Rockin for the Troops

Rockin for the Troops with WQUT, Slick Cadillac, and Six Gun at Stockyard focuses on supporting service members through care packages and donations. Contributions will be collected leading up to the show, and the cover charge is by donation with proceeds going to the cause. Attendees are encouraged to bring snack-size Slim Jims, beef sticks or other meat sticks, small bags of beef jerky, electrolyte drink mixes for bottled water, pre-made Rice Krispies Treats, protein bars, chewy granola bars, and individual bags of trail mix or nuts. Please opt for small, packable items rather than large quantities, since these are easier to carry in the field. Please avoid chips or other items packaged with a lot of air, as they do not ship well.

The duo from the North Georgia mountains, Jenu Six and Chantal Lynn, delivers its brand of dive bar tunes shaped by a shared love of country and life on the road. Open Mic Contest

The Open Mic Night Competition returns for its second qualifying round at The Sports Mill Kingsport. Performers are welcome to share covers or original songs, and winners from this round will advance to the finals. This ongoing series highlights live music and provides a stage for emerging and seasoned artists alike.

Mother Son Dance

2026 Scholarship Auditions.

Scholarship auditions hosted by the Bristol Music Club take place at First Presbyterian Church. Students should warm up before arriving. During an applicant’s performance, parents and the teacher may be in the sanctuary, then leave once it concludes. Please enter only between auditions and remain quiet while inside to avoid interruptions. A winners recital with a reception is planned. Division I is for applicants who intend to pursue a college music degree on the timeline outlined in the program materials. Those not following that plan should audition in Division II. Eligibility requirements and the application form accompany the announcement, and applications are due by the posted deadline. 2026 Polar Plunge

Kick off pool season with a brisk community dip at Wetlands Water Park. This free event welcomes participants ages 8 and up for a spirited plunge into chilly water that marks the transition to summer. Whether it is a first plunge or a favorite tradition, the atmosphere is upbeat and inclusive, with plenty of laughter and energy. Everyone who takes the leap earns a complimentary day pass to Wetlands Water Park. The Water Park will also accept non-perishable food donations to benefit the Jonesborough Area Ministerial Association Food Pantry.

Backstage Coffee Company X Gilmore Girls

Backstage Coffee Company brings Gilmore Girls vibes by turning the cafe into Luke's Diner, complete with a menu inspired by the show, house-made treats, and exclusive sticker designs. Take your coffee for a downtown stroll in true Gilmore fashion. The announcement also tips its hat to Miss Patty and mentions a production of Alice in Wonderland at LampLight Theatre, along with a playful reference to 'a film by kirk.'

Spring Hunter Pace and Trail Ride

Enjoy a hunter pace and trail ride on a working farm set on private land. Riders follow a clearly marked course with the option to match an ideal pace or simply travel at a comfortable speed. The route covers about 6 to 8 miles through woods and open fields, with optional jumps and other obstacles. A refreshment stop is available around the midpoint. The entry fee is $40. Riders can RSVP to receive a waiver and a specific start slot, or arrive without advance arrangements. Friends are welcome to ride together.

Meditation: Half-Day Sit @ ADMC

Settle into a half-day meditation at ADMC featuring three hours of quiet practice to nurture steadiness and concentration. Each hour is structured with 45 minutes of seated silence followed by 15 minutes of walking meditation. The support of the sangha creates a setting for deepening one’s practice. Weekly Music Lessons with JAM Kids

Music lessons are held in the Learning Center at the Birthplace of Country Music Museum through a new partnership. The fee is $5 for one class or $45 for a package of 10 lessons.

Tea and Tai Chi

Participants meet at the Philosopher's House for a cup of tea of their choice, then head to the park, weather permitting, for Yang 24 Tai Chi in the Beijing style. The warmup includes Qigong and movement exercises influenced by martial arts traditions such as Bajiquan and Baguazhang. It blends tea, community, and calming yet energizing practice. This is a drop-in activity with no registration required. Purchasing a beverage or snack is encouraged to support the teahouse nonprofit. The plan is to meet at the teahouse and walk to King Commons for the Tai Chi portion.

A gracious social tea and brunch features elegant table settings by Beverly Moody. Friends of the Library Book Donation Drop-off

Friends of the Johnson City Public Library hosts a community drop-off for donated materials. Bring your contributions to the library's parking lot near the curbside pickup area, where a member of the Friends will be on hand to help with unloading. A multimedia orchestral tale brings Matt Cook’s Braveship to life with immersive music and vivid visuals featuring artwork by Vladimir Manyukhinand. Presented at the Toy F. Reid Employee Center, this family-friendly concert is the TN premier and aligns with an educational outreach effort that tours regional schools to share live symphonic music with students who might not otherwise experience a performance. Children and students receive free admission. Told across thirteen movements in a narrated format for family and pops audiences, the story follows Azra, a young orphan raised on a fog-shrouded floating continent who has heard legends of distant lands once connected to his own. After discovering the magical Braveship hidden in a forest and guided by a mysterious creature with wings of fire, he ventures beyond the mist to find other continents that are being torn apart. As the only one able to cross the fog, Azra takes on the task of stopping the destruction. A stowaway named Finn, an outlaw, reveals himself and becomes the navigator Azra needs, and along the journey new allies may emerge. The production pairs the orchestral score with striking fantasy imagery by leading artists, and the music has been recorded at a major Disney studio and released as an award-winning album.

Unload your equipment near the upper portion of the dam. The program will proceed if the weather is clear to partly cloudy, but it will be canceled if it is fully cloudy or rainy.

Open Doors! -- A Living History Event at Exchange Place Living History Farm

Historic buildings will be open for a day of immersive living history at Exchange Place. Presented by the Eden's Ridge Hearth Cookery Society alongside the Exchange Place Junior Apprentices, visitors may roam the farm and observe demonstrations that include cooking over the hearth, work at the forge, textile arts from spinning to weaving, traditional games, and period music. In recognition of America's 250th birthday, the program shines a light on everyday life on Eden's Ridge in the mid 1800s, with a respectful salute to Revolutionary War ancestors. Open Air Adventure Ride 🌄

Take a scenic backroads ride to High Knob with wide views, mountain air, and winding roads. Any type of vehicle can participate, and the plan includes unhurried stops for photos and time to enjoy the overlook. Surfaces range from pavement to gravel and dirt, so careful, attentive driving is important. Keep generous spacing between vehicles and be courteous to others on the road. For a comfortable stop, bring a simple picnic, water and other cold drinks, plus a blanket or compact chairs.

Blacksmith Workshop — Rocky Mount State Historic Site

This is a hands-on blacksmith workshop where students age 9 and up can learn basic and beginner blacksmithing techniques. The session will emphasize 18th-century techniques using both modern and colonial methods. Participants will be guided through creating modern metalwork similar to that of 250 years ago. Participants will work with a fully functional forge led by the museums blacksmith to learn how to craft unique creations. Closed-toed shoes are required and comfortable clothing is recommended. If weather does not cooperate, the workshop will be rescheduled and refunds will be issued.

Custom Rod Building Class

A practical rod building workshop is back at Riverside Taphouse after the previous session filled quickly. The fee is $250 and includes a custom rod you assemble yourself, with your choice of fly, spinning, casting, or ice style, along with a Core Hand Wrapper and a CRB 9 RPM drying motor with rod support. Robbie Potter Colt Starting Clinic at Jonesborough Equestrian Center

At Jonesborough Equestrian Center, an in-depth colt starting clinic centers on observation and learning. Guided by Robbie Potter and echoing Ray Hunt’s view of colt starting as fundamental horsemanship, those attending can watch multiple young horses begin their training, starting with groundwork. It is intended for riders, horse owners, and trainers who want to deepen their understanding without bringing a horse. Five riders will start five colts that have yet to be saddled or ridden, and these riders have worked closely with Robbie on starting colts and addressing challenging behaviors. The format allows auditors to track each horse’s progress in real time, ask questions, and participate in discussion, whether exploring the process for the first time or refining established methods. Twilight on the Mount - Evening Nature Walk — Rocky Mount State Historic Site

Take a relaxing, easy walk on the nature trails. You can learn about local plants, trees, and animals as you walk the beginner trails. The trails are natural terrain, about a mile combined, along with about a half mile of paved sidewalk. Close-toed shoes are recommended. There will also be an informative talk, where you can ask questions.

Twilight Alive featuring ULTIMATE GARTH BROOKS TRIBUTE

Part of the Twilight Alive Summer Concert Series, this free outdoor show in downtown Kingsport spotlights ULTIMATE GARTH BROOKS TRIBUTE featuring Shawn Gerard. Chuck Brodsky brings his blend of storytelling and song to The Jackson Theatre. Known for witty, rootsy writing and a warm, down to earth presence, he crafts tales of misfits and underdogs that celebrate decency, eccentricity, courage, and beauty, while also poking fun where it is due and challenging what needs to be questioned, all grounded in honesty. His career has taken him to festivals and concert stages across the United States and abroad, including Canada, Ireland, Denmark, England, Israel, Lithuania, Latvia, Wales, and the Shetland Islands. He has performed at the National Baseball Hall of Fame multiple times, and the Hall’s sound recording library includes 22 of his baseball story songs. Raised in Philadelphia, he taught himself piano at a young age, later picked up guitar, and developed his voice as a performer in San Francisco coffeehouses after time busking in Europe and working seasonal jobs. His songs have appeared in films and on television, with features connected to the Philadelphia Phillies, the motion picture Radio, and the PBS documentary Jews and Baseball, and he has been honored by the Philadelphia Jewish Sports Hall of Fame for his baseball themed work. His recordings span collaborations with producers Kristian Bush and J.P. Cormier, as well as self produced albums from Asheville that include his release Gravity, Wings, And Heavy Things. This appearance follows a previously scheduled date that was postponed.

From China to Appalachia at The Jackson Theatre

The Jackson Theatre hosts a cross-cultural concert that brings together two-time GRAMMY Award winners Cathy Fink and Marcy Marxer with acclaimed yangqin virtuoso Chao Tian. Their collaboration traces a musical path where Silk Road sounds meet Appalachian roots, shaping a lively performance that reaches well beyond either tradition. The trio moves among a rich palette of instruments, including yangqin (Chinese hammered dulcimer), gourd banjo, five-string banjo, ukulele, guitar, dumbek, cello-banjo, and mandolin. Their set blends traditional Chinese and Appalachian pieces with contemporary and international selections, along with original works by all three artists. Born from friendship and exploratory jam sessions, the project evolved into a touring production that celebrates music as a bridge across cultures. They have performed widely throughout the U.S., and their self-titled debut rose to the top of folk radio and Billboard Bluegrass charts. Fink and Marxer, an American Roots duo known for expert musicianship and rich harmonies, have built a decades-long career and are often described as social music conductors who have inspired artists such as Kaki King and Rhiannon Giddens. Chao Tian is a classically trained musician and former director at Beijing Language and Culture University, a founding member of its music department, and an appointed officer of the International Cultural Exchange Program. This program is part of the Jackson Theatre’s ongoing collaboration with the International Storytelling Center. Tickets are $25.

Ages 5-9 KIDS ART CAMP

Children ages 5 to 9 can spend a full day immersed in art for $100. Projects include a bubble technique frame with a tiny topper to attach, a party animal of their choice, a small vase finished with specialty glazes, a glass hanging name plate, up to four monster face magnets, a glass night light, an acrylic painting of a planet they dream up, and a canvas for freestyle creativity. The collection of activities carries a retail value of over $170. Pottery and glass projects will be ready the following week, while the paintings can be taken home the same day.

Grief's Fierce Invitation - Weekend Retreat

Hosted at Fauna Forest Farm in Jonesborough, Tennessee, a short drive from ETSU, this weekend retreat is grounded in the teachings of Francis Weller and creates time and space to tend grief in community. Facilitators Carrie De Martini and Carl Bello offer guidance for honoring what is present and for cultivating a more authentic relationship with life’s tender passages. Carrie founded the Wishing Well Center, which focuses on soulful approaches to living and dying. She holds teaching credentials and certifications from the Conscious Dying Institute as an End-of-Life Educator and Sacred Passage Doula, and she brings more than fifteen years of hospice volunteering in direct patient care and grief support. Her work emphasizes the value of facing mortality and processing shared grief in a supportive setting. Carl is a psychotherapist and veterinarian who advocates for soul-centered work and the healing of our world. He has studied grief ritual practices with Francis Weller and Laurence Cole, drawing inspiration from Malidoma Somé, the Dagara people of West Africa, and Martin Prechtel. His experience includes facilitating grief rituals in North Carolina, Idaho, and Tennessee. The retreat begins with an evening gathering and continues with a full day together. A vegetarian lunch is provided on the second day. Pricing is offered on a sliding scale from $175 to $350. The farm’s full address is shared after registration.

Theatre Bristol brings the high-energy musical Grease to Paramount Bristol with a regional cast performing the iconic story live on stage. The production revisits Rydell High’s class of 1959 with big harmonies, quick-footed choreography, and the rock and roll vibe that defined a generation. Danny Zuko, played by Hunter Dobbs, and Sandy Dumbrowski, played by Camille Gray, try to rekindle their summer romance during senior year. Their friends keep the drama and fun humming, with Deklan Thomas as Kenickie, Michael Trotter-Lawson as Sonny, Koty Peak as Roger, and Dani Freeman as Doody, alongside Annie Brenner as Rizzo, Laken Miller as Frenchy, Carly Street as Marty, and Kristen Hall as Jan. D’Arcy Morrell appears as Patty Simcox and Copper Knapp as Eugene Florczyk, with Erika Loudy as English teacher Miss Lynch. Zaiah Gray takes the mic as WAXX radio personality Vince Fontaine, Annie Barranco heats up the dance floor as Cha-Cha DiGregorio, and David Brooks appears as Teen Angel and performs Born To Hand-Jive as Johnny Casino. Rounding out the ensemble of students, mechanics, and angels are Morgan Gilstrap, Mylie Hibbs, Erin Solley, Libby Street, Marleina Turner, Carlie Whitaker, Jonah Harvey, Scott Hill, Reece Hilt, Sylas Lawson, Beck Pickard, and Skylar Sutherland. Expect favorites like Summer Nights, Greased Lightnin’, We Go Together, You’re the One That I Want, Hopelessly Devoted to You, and the title song, with a nod to the sounds of Buddy Holly, Little Richard, and Elvis Presley. The show is directed by Glenn Patterson, with stage management by Adriel Slaughter. Camille Gray serves as choreographer and costume designer, David D. Obstacles and precision riding

This event focuses on improving communication with your horse through obstacle work and precision exercises. Participants practice crossing a bridge and a tarp, moving through a shower-curtain obstacle, handing a basket to another participant, and refining maneuvers such as backing and leg yielding. The goal is to build confidence, trust, and control that carry over into everyday riding. RSVP is requested, as space is limited. A current negative Coggins and a signed waiver are required. Cost is $45.

Nature Camp at Harvey Family Farm

At Harvey Family Farm in Johnson City, children can step away from screens and spend time outdoors with hands-on learning and exploration. Participants discover flowers, plants, and garden spaces, learn about insects and the seasonal rhythm of farm life, take part in guided nature activities and simple crafts, and enjoy outdoor play that follows their curiosity. The program is small, calm, and screen free, created for kids who thrive outside. Activities are age appropriate and educational, grounded in real farm experiences with no pressure and no overstimulation, just space to learn and explore. The setting is close to downtown Johnson City and is family friendly, fully outdoors, and educational. Space is limited to keep group sizes small, and advance registration is required.

Silly Goose Art Camp at Into the Fire invites young artists ages 5 and up to spend a week creating with a favorite feathered muse in mind. Campers will experiment with canvas, pottery, wood, and string as they make themed projects inspired by the silly goose. The fee is $150 plus tax for a four-day session and includes all materials, projects, and a snack. Throughout the week, activities, crafts, games, and treats follow the theme, and everything culminates in an end-of-week art show where campers can share their work with family, with snacks provided. The curriculum consignment sale returns for its third year at North Ridge Community Church West Market. It brings together homeschool families, teachers, and book lovers to buy and sell curriculum, books, manipulatives, games, and related learning resources. Families with overflowing shelves can consign items without the hassle of listing each piece individually, while shoppers can preview materials in person before purchasing. New homeschoolers can explore a wide selection to get started, and anyone hoping to add to or pare down a library will find plenty of options. Those who register as consignors receive labels and clear instructions, then drop off items and get a chance to shop as well. The event schedule features designated drop-off periods, shopping hours reserved for consignors, public sale times, and half-price sessions for both consignors and the public.

VINCENT – An Original Contemporary Ballet

Presented by Kingsport Ballet at ETSU Martin Center for the Arts, this original contemporary ballet portrays Vincent van Gogh’s artistic brilliance alongside his internal struggles. The story unfolds through dance that brings his signature painting themes to life, offering a compassionate look at mental health. Original choreography is performed by regional artists, with hand-painted sets and costumes inspired by Van Gogh classics such as Sunflowers and Starry Night. Created through a collaboration of contributors from multiple artistic disciplines, the 2025 production drew enthusiastic praise for its emotional impact and craftsmanship. The performance is sponsored by Bravissima, Women Sponsoring the Arts, with appreciation to season sponsors. Due to mature themes, it is recommended for ages 10 and older. Tickets are priced at $23 for general admission, $18 for seniors 65+ and students in high school or younger, and $10 for university students from ETSU and other institutions, plus tax and fees.

A rain or shine micro crawler competition takes place at HobbyTown in a covered outdoor area, featuring multiple classes designed for a range of rigs and experience levels. Amateur 24th and 18th classes run courses with 10 gates plus a bonus and require SCX24 or FCX24 base rigs for 24th scale, and TRX4M, FCX18, or CR18P for 18th scale. Four wheel steer and front or rear dig are not allowed in these classes, while tire size and width are open, and electronics, motor, chassis, and body choices are unrestricted. Advanced versions of the 24th and 18th classes increase course difficulty to 12 gates plus a bonus with the same equipment allowances and restrictions. Hardbody Class requires a flat skid, tires up to 60 mm, and a body or truggy cage that covers both front and rear axles. Buddy Class pairs two drivers who must both finish the course using any rig up to 1/18 scale over 10 gates. A Youth Class is available for competitors 12 and under with 10 gates and no restriction on choosing 24th or 18th scale. The SCX30 Stock Class is limited to Axial SCX30 rigs and uses 5 inch gates. Stock bodies must remain, though accessories and spare tires may be removed if the included filler or tire delete parts are used, and there is no trimming of the interior roof glass. Brass components are not permitted except Injora brass steering links when upgrading to stronger servos such as Injora or Reefs. Wheel and tire changes are allowed with aluminum beadlock wheels only, without brass rings or weights. Amateur 24th and 18th classes use 7 inch gates, the Unlimited class also uses 7 inch gates, and all Youth gates are 7 inches as well. Scoring focuses on keeping points as low as possible. Contact with a gate is 5 points and that gate becomes dead, while in pro classes both markers remain live so hitting both counts as 10 points. Using a hand to touch, pick up, or flip a truck is 10 points each time. Returning to the pit to repair a truck is 20 points. Skipping or missing a gate adds 10 points. To protect fairness, any cheating can lead to a warning, an ended run, disqualification from a class, or suspension from future events. Before timed runs begin, the course is closed for gate setting, and only drivers who are called may be on the track during their runs. Restrooms are available on site along with power and a vending machine for snacks and drinks. Entry is cash only at sign-in and costs $10 per class. After the shop closes, the inside doors are not accessible and entry to the course continues through the gated outdoor area on the left side of the building. Parking is set up to keep front spaces available for store customers. Park farther from the storefront in the spaces near the HobbyTown lighted sign by the road or in the grass area on the left side of the building. Carpooling helps open more spots, and early arrivals parking in the grass should pull farther out so others can line up behind. Basic rules apply and may be refined over time, with updates posted at the outdoor crawler course area and in the store. Questions about the rules can be asked on site.

Part of the Twilight Alive Summer Concert Series in Downtown Kingsport, this free outdoor show features Departure performing the music of Journey with a production that evokes the band’s classic 80s era. Lead vocalist Brian Williams closely mirrors Steve Perry’s range while the group delivers familiar hits. Guests are welcome to bring lawn chairs, and coolers are not permitted. Beer will be sold on the street, and dinner options are available from nearby restaurants along with select vendors on site.

22nd Annual Gems and Mineral Show

The Kingsport Gems & Minerals Club hosts the 22nd Annual Gems and Mineral Show at the Farmstead at Bays Mountain Nature Center & Planetarium. Admission to the show is free, while entry to the park requires a fee unless a season pass has been purchased. The show features plenty of fun for everyone with gemstone and mineral exhibits, including a fluorescent display, specimens for sale, special activities for kids, grab bags, demonstrations of faceting, cabbing, wire wrapping, and flame painting copper, plus geode cracking. All proceeds support college scholarships. This fundraiser does not offer vendor spaces.
