Designed for little explorers ages 5 and under accompanied by a caregiver, this program blends storytime and hands-on activities with a science twist. The Education Team leads the learning and play, and caregivers can take a moment to relax with Roasters Coffee. Each month brings a new theme that keeps curious minds engaged. For 2026, themes roll out as follows: The Year of the Dino in January, Astronaut Academy in February, Seasons of Change in March, In the Garden in April, On the Move in May, Scuba School in June, Citrus Summer in July, Pet Parade in August, Rockin' Robots in September, Creepy Crawlies in October, Star Light, Star Bright in November, and Science is Cool in December. Geared to the before-school stretch in Amarillo, Summer Fun Days at The Don Harrington Discovery Center welcomes campers ages 3 through 5th grade. Kids can explore the Don Harrington Discovery Center exhibit Dinosaurs Around the World, watch shows in the domed Space Theater, spend time at a nearby Splash Pad, and enjoy plenty of games that celebrate the final days of summer break. Half-day sessions are available for ages 4 and younger, and campers must be at least 5 years old to participate in a full-day option. The program blends discovery and play to make the most of the back-to-school gap.

The Route 66 Centennial celebration continues in Amarillo with a stop from The Great American Road Rally: Celebrity Edition as it travels the historic highway. Arts in the Sunset hosts a free public car show where visitors can explore standout vehicles and enjoy a celebrity meet and greet with participants from the upcoming CW series honoring the 100th anniversary of Route 66. Celebrate the ongoing centennial festivities in one of the route’s most iconic destinations.

The Art Plug-In hosts a summer art camp that celebrates video game creativity with projects inspired by Mario and similar character-filled worlds. Designed for young artists ages 5 to 12, the session features step-by-step guidance from encouraging instructors while leaving room for personal style and imaginative twists. Kids will craft colorful character pieces and game-themed designs using playful techniques and a variety of materials. Campers typically complete two projects together, then explore additional activities or artistic games with time to make extra creations. A wide range of supplies and mediums may be used, including paint, clay, beads, fabric, and more. Projects vary from one day to the next, even when a technique repeats. Please plan for timely pickup so the studio can reset, and be ready to help carry artwork home, as there may be more than little hands can manage. This program is for children who are fully potty trained and able to follow classroom-style directions. Four-year-olds are not permitted, and refunds are not offered if a child outside the age requirement arrives. Pricing is $30 per child or $25 for Premium Member Kids. Member pricing applies only to current premium kids memberships of $50 or more per month and must be active at registration and on the camp day. There is no sibling discount. A 25% deposit is due at booking. If the studio is notified before the remaining balance is processed, the order can be canceled and only the deposit will be retained. The deposit is nonrefundable and not transferable, including to other dates. For summer camps there are no refunds or transfers for cancellations or no shows for any reason. If weather causes a cancellation, credit will be applied to a future workshop, club, or camp. Wildcat Wednesdays offers weekly outdoor camps for children in grades 1 through 4. Held each Wednesday throughout the summer, the program provides full day and half day options. Campers take part in hands-on activities in nature and enjoy led hikes on the trail systems, all supported by a STEM-focused curriculum taught by educators in Amarillo. The experience centers on outdoor learning and exploration of the High Plains. This camp is separate from The Don Harrington Discovery Center Summer Camps.
