When arriving, check in at the Children’s Desk to join the line. Reading sessions are one-on-one with a dog and last up to ten minutes. Readers may cover as many books as they like, then rejoin the line for another ten-minute turn if desired. Children waiting for their first turn are moved to the front of the line. Books from the library or from home are both welcome. Provided by HerScan, this community service helps you add ultrasound to your regular breast health plan. Ultrasound can substantially improve detection, raising the chance of finding breast cancer from about 48 percent to as high as 97 percent, especially for those with dense breast tissue. It can also identify cancers that might not appear on a mammogram or be found during a physical exam. The visit is designed to be fast and comfortable. There is no radiation, it is safe for individuals with implants, and every exam is interpreted by a radiologist. No prescription is required. The screening includes imaging of both breasts and the underarm area, plus the radiologist’s reading, for $295, a service value that can be as high as $1,100.
