The organizers aim to bring hands-on art to the community every day and are working toward a dedicated studio space. Watch for additional creative offerings that will help make that goal a reality. Ignite Your Style: A Custom Hat Burning Workshop

Transform a plain hat into a personal statement at a hands-on workshop in the Art Center of Corpus Christi Lockett Gallery. Learn creative techniques such as painting, embellishing, and decorative burning to craft a one-of-a-kind piece. All supplies, tools, and templates are provided, along with friendly guidance every step of the way. No experience is required, just bring your creative spark. The session is led by April Ancira-Martinez, an artist and art teacher who owns a mobile paint party business. She draws inspiration from reading, gardening, and time in nature, and balances her artistic pursuits with family life as a mother and grandmother. She is also training in art therapy, creating work that reflects her own journey while helping others express themselves. Celebrate Father’s Day with a splash. During general swim hours, dads receive complimentary entry when accompanied by a child with a paid admission. It is a simple, family friendly way to enjoy time in the water together. Happy Father’s Day.

Camp La Palmera

Camp La Palmera returns this summer with a full lineup of free daily activities designed for families close to home. Weekdays feature rotating themes that run one to four hours. Mondays spotlight karaoke, Tuesdays bring bingo, and Wednesdays offer Campfire Chats with storytime for children 8 and under along with mental health conversations for all ages. Thursdays focus on creative projects with K Space Contemporary, including bracelets, frames, and more. Fridays add active and hands-on fun such as Pilates or yoga, pickleball, petting zoos, slime making, and other surprises. Two headliner shows are also planned, Huntrix Tribute: The Sing Along Experience and the TSwift Tribute, presented on The Stage at La Palmera Cafes. Programming may change, offerings are available while supplies last, and some restrictions may apply.

Folklorico Showcase Celebrating Culture and Rhythm

Mario Cart Monday

Rev up for head-to-head Mario Kart action on a large screen at the Fifth & Elm Atrium, where racers compete for bragging rights in a friendly, competitive atmosphere. The entry fee is $25 per player and includes a pizza in cheese or pepperoni, a fountain drink, and placement in the tournament bracket. Check-in and food pickup happen before racing begins, followed by bracket setup and a final check-in cutoff. Unclaimed entries after the cutoff may be released to players on the waitlist without a refund. Competitors must be at least 8 years old and provide a valid phone number during registration. Participants should stay near the Atrium and be ready when called, since anyone not present for their race will forfeit. Tournament format and scheduling may be adjusted based on total participation.

Mozzarella & ricotta-making class!

This hands-on cheesemaking class at Cabana Pantry focuses on crafting mozzarella and ricotta from start to finish. It begins with an approachable overview of how milk becomes cheese and compares the benefits and trade-offs of different milk choices. Participants practice the classic method of heating and stretching curds to make tender mozzarella while exploring how temperature, texture, and timing influence results. Whey is then put to work to create a fresh ricotta, along with tips for using any remaining whey so nothing goes to waste. Everyone leaves with the cheeses made in class plus take-home recipes and a resource guide to support cheesemaking at home. Snacks and water are provided, and bringing a favorite beverage is welcome. The class fee is $50 per person.

Seawinds Arts&Sciences Meetings 2026

This twice-monthly Arts and Sciences gathering brings together Seawinds artisans to share their work, demonstrate a variety of crafts, and offer hands-on instruction to those interested in learning. The first gathering of each month typically includes an Officers/Populace meeting to discuss upcoming meetings and activities. For those who cannot attend in person, a live Zoom chat is available during the event. If the chat times out after 40 minutes, it is reopened with a new link shortly afterward so nothing is missed. There is no participation fee through SCA/Seawinds, and voluntary contributions toward a $25 monthly facility fee are appreciated. Alcohol is not permitted on the premises, and everyone is asked to clean up before leaving.

Lights, Camera...SUMMER! Kidz Kamp 2026

The City of Portland Parks and Recreation Department presents a summer day program in partnership with Gregory-Portland ISD for children ages 5 to 12 who will be entering kindergarten through sixth grade in the 2026-2027 school year. Each day blends play and learning with activities such as games, sports, swimming, science and nature exploration, field trips and special happenings, arts and crafts, healthy eating, and a summer jogging club. Children are grouped by age, class sizes are limited, and all instructors are certified in CPR and First Aid. The program operates under a license from the Texas Department of Family and Protective Services. Transportation from swim lessons can be arranged when parents inform staff of the child’s enrollment so pickup can be scheduled. Lunch is provided through the GPISD Summer Food Program. A complete eight-week option runs Monday through Friday at T.M. Clark Elementary. The cost is $90 per week per child with a $60 registration fee, and both the registration fee and the first week’s tuition are due at enrollment.

Paint & Sip - America the Beautiful: Sonoran Desert

Settle in for a paint and sip focused on the Sonoran Desert, part of the America the Beautiful summer series that highlights remarkable U.S. destinations one canvas at a time. No experience is necessary, since all supplies are provided and a teaching artist demonstrates each step so you can head home with a finished, dry painting. Plan to arrive a bit early to get your smock on and find your seat. If you want extra time to unwind and catch up with friends, you are welcome to come earlier before the session begins. If you are attending with friends but booking separately, include your group name in the Special Request field so seating can be arranged together. Pick up a complimentary punch card at your first America the Beautiful session and earn one punch each time you participate. KidStrong Summer Camp offers an energetic, age-tailored program that keeps kids moving, building confidence, and making new friends throughout the summer. Dino Lab - Lego Summer Camp

Young builders ages 6 to 8 can dive into a dinosaur-themed LEGO summer camp designed for Juniors. Over four days, participants begin with skill-building and introductions on Monday, continue by expanding their creations on Tuesday, take on a collaborative team challenge on Wednesday, and conclude with a showcase on Thursday that includes prizes. Teen Club, Summer 2026

Designed for ages 13 to 16, this Teen Club program offers a welcoming space to hang out with access to ping pong and foosball tables, basketball hoops, Xbox and PlayStation consoles, and disc golf. Activities also include outdoor games, special events, gaming tournaments, and Bubble Ball tournaments, plus off-site trips to Northshore 8 Movie Theater and swimming at the Portland Aquatics Center. Sessions are held in the TM Clark gym. Participation is free, and participants cover their own costs for field trips, movies, and any entrance fees.

Turtle Team Rescue

Kids ages 6 and up explore marine rescue in an interactive session that invites them to take on the role of junior turtle rescuers. Through real stories of stranded sea turtles and the human care that helped them recover, participants learn about rescue and rehabilitation in a hands-on, engaging format. This program is presented in collaboration with the Texas Sealife Center.

Intro to Dinosaurs

Designed for ages 10 and older, this program features professional geologists and Master Naturalists Randy and Dawn Bissell leading a welcoming slide talk on dinosaurs. They explore broad ideas about how dinosaurs evolved, lived, and became extinct, along with the legacy they left behind. The presentation walks through the Mesozoic Era, emphasizing what the rock record tells us about dinosaurs and the other life that shared their environment. Parents and children can see how fast-moving research has changed scientific understanding over time, and how media coverage has shaped public perceptions of this popular subject. Tuesday Night Golf League (every week)

A refreshed league season rolls out a new format with a single weekly competition on The Blue Heron at Lozano Golf Center. Teams of two take part in rotating formats throughout the season. Entry is $39 per player or $78 per team, and this price includes tax and the prize fund. Each week features a cash skins game for $10 per team, cash only, along with closest-to-the-pin challenges and drink and food specials. The league has been combined into one weekly event to boost competition, strengthen payouts, and create a livelier atmosphere. Team registration is online only.

Oil Pastel Class with Sina Sung

Explore color in a hands-on oil pastel class led by instructor Sina Sung at the Art Center of Corpus Christi Bayview Gallery. Participants will practice blending with their hands and layering hues to see how colors mix and change, while studying the color wheel and complementary color relationships to build depth and richness in their artwork. Please bring a 48-color set of oil pastels, a 9 by 12 inch mixed media sketchbook, and a few tissues and cotton swabs. Relief Printmaking Basics

Explore the foundations of relief printmaking in a beginner-friendly class at the Art Center of Corpus Christi Bay View Gallery with instructor Llewyn Embers. Participants ages 13 and up will sketch and carve original designs on rubber blocks, then learn to use ink and rollers to print a mini postcard. Everyone takes home a personalized card and the carved block. All supplies are provided, and the class suits family activities as well as those interested in building skills in this printmaking medium. Instructor Llewyn Embers holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Texas A&M University and has practiced printmaking since 2019. His creative background includes painting, ceramics, and costume work. He has participated in the Kingsville Steam Roller event across multiple years, PrintAustin, and various gallery shows and charity auctions. His artwork blends surrealism with western and punk rock influences. He co-owns LTEmbers Creations, a local venture focused on art, education, events, and opportunities, and has been active around Corpus with murals, teaching, and pop up booths featuring hand printed T-shirts. Race head to head on the big screen during a Mario Kart tournament in the Fifth & Elm Atrium. Check-in comes first with food distribution and bracket setup, followed by the start of racing. In honor of National Parks & Recreation Month, the Portland Community Center and the Portland Aquatic Center will host a free play day. Admission is free, and attendees can get their Park Pass stamped during the event. The celebration highlights the importance of Parks and Recreation as an essential service in everyday life.

Coastal Bend TX Chapter on the water Kayak Fishing Adventure!

A free kayak fishing outing offers a welcoming experience on the water for registered veterans, members of the armed forces, first responders, their immediate family members, and volunteers. The chapter supplies all fishing gear and kayaks, including single and tandem options, and also provides breakfast, a hot lunch, snacks, and a selection of beverages. Pre-registration with the chapter is required before an invitation is issued; to express interest in participating, volunteering, or joining the mailing list, email coastalbend@heroesonthewater.org. Participants are responsible for securing any required fishing license. The experience emphasizes paddling, fishing, and personal well-being.

80's Night By the Pool

An 80s themed pool party brings a DJ, bubbles, kites, swimming, and more. Guests who prefer to stay dry can bring roller skates and glide under the pavilion. Friends and family can relax together and relive the good old days. Admission is $5.

Lemonade Day Portland

Lemonade Day Portland showcases young entrepreneurs as they run their own lemonade stands and put their creativity and business skills into action. Stands are reserved for registered participants, while everyone is welcome to stop by, buy a cup, and support the kids behind the counters. Expect an upbeat atmosphere filled with innovation, skill building, and community spirit as these rising stars step into the spotlight at their stands.

NB Ridaz: Runaway Throwback Night ft. Big Gemini

NB Ridaz brings a Runaway Throwback Night to House of Rock in Corpus Christi. The group’s story stretches back to 1997 with The First Chapter and the hip hop charting single Down For Yours. Founding members Dos and Zig Zag helped shape Latin rap in the Southwest and Arizona, originally performing as Nasty Boy Klick with MC Magic, whose Billboard-recognized tracks include So Fly, Pretty Girl, and Runaway. Their music blends rap, urban, R&B, and hip hop, and the use of Spanish lyrics connected with a broad audience. Special Girl reached the Top 40 among independent albums. After Magic moved into a solo career in the mid-2000s, Dos and Zig Zag continued forward, and the group still draws crowds nationwide. A limited number of table seats are available for purchase. New music is on the way, and the crew remains committed to the fans.

Paint & Sip - America the Beautiful: Great Plains

Experience a guided paint and sip that celebrates American landscapes and landmarks, spotlighting a new destination each week as part of the America the Beautiful summer series. Participants receive a punch card at their first series event, earn one punch per visit, and after four events receive a gift certificate for a free future event. Set aside everyday stress and enjoy a relaxed creative session. No prior art experience is required. All supplies are provided, and an instructor offers step-by-step guidance so everyone leaves with a finished, fully dried canvas. Arriving a bit early is encouraged to get settled and suited up, and those who want extra time can enjoy a casual Happy Half Hour before painting begins. Groups making separate reservations can add a shared group name in the Special Request box to be seated together. Please note that all attendees must have a paid reservation and unpaid observers are not permitted.
