Presented by AEP Texas, this family friendly run at Corpus Christi International Airport features a unique course on a runway with scenic views and close encounters with planes, trucks, and other special vehicles. A 1K Kids Fun Run gets things started, followed by an out-and-back 5K open to walkers and runners. Sunday Seawinds Fighter Practice offers free, weather dependent SCA training at West Guth Park, marked by a small blue and yellow seashell banner. On the first Sunday of each month the Sunday practice meets at Cole Park, and additional practices are held midweek at East Cliff Park. Spectators are welcome. Adults who want to participate can use loaner equipment, must be 18 or older, and need to sign a waiver before being suited up. Youth Combat is available for ages 6 to 17 with foam padded weapons, and participants ages 16 to 17 may, on a case by case basis, be cleared to use adult equipment. Loaner gear is available and participation is free. All youth must be accompanied by a parent or legal guardian who will also sign the waiver. Practice times and locations can change and all activities are weather permitting, with updates posted as soon as possible. Covid precautions are encouraged. Food and drink, other than bottled waters, are not provided by the Shire, and individuals may bring their own and share at their own discretion. Questions about practices or SCA fighting can be directed to the Knight Marshal or Rapier Marshal. By participating in person, attendees acknowledge the potential risk of exposure to infectious diseases and agree to take any additional steps they believe are necessary to protect their health and the safety of those in their care.

Tickets already purchased will be accepted for the rescheduled performance without any additional steps. Portland Farmers Market offers a welcoming place to shop for locally grown produce and handcrafted goods in a family-friendly atmosphere. The market has moved to its new home at Fifth & Elm, creating a vibrant setting for farmers, artisans, and crafters to share their work. It runs regularly through most of the year, with no market in January, July, or August. Vendors can reserve a 10-by-10 street booth for $20 or choose a turf lawn space for $30, and produce vendors participate at no cost. Vendors bring their own tables, chairs, and tents, and electricity is not provided. Small portable generators are permitted only in street spaces and are not allowed on turf lawn areas. A completed vendor application is required and all submissions are reviewed for approval, with the option to limit similar offerings. Registration closes on the Monday before each market and late entries are not accepted. Online registration typically opens about 30 days in advance. House of Rock presents a long-running open mic hosted by Mattman, inviting bands, solo songwriters, and first-timers to test out new material on stage. The venue provides microphones, guitar and bass amplifiers, and a full drum kit, and each act gets a three-song set to keep the music moving. There is no charge to attend or to perform. On the first Tuesday of each month, performers who sign up and complete a set receive a voucher for a complimentary Big Slice of pizza from the House of Rock kitchen. Pitchers of local craft beer are available at half price throughout the night, with a focus on community, creativity, and showcasing local talent.
