Wednesday Seawinds Fighter Practices 2026

Wednesday fighter practices take place at East Cliff Park, with a small blue and yellow Seawinds seashell banner marking the spot. Spectators are welcome and participation is free. Adults interested in trying SCA combat can use loaner equipment, must be 18 or older, and need to sign a waiver. Beginners are suited up and started at an easy pace. Youth Combat is available for ages 6 to 17 with foam-padded weapons and free loaner gear. Participants ages 16 to 17 may be approved on a case-by-case basis to use the same equipment as adults. All youth must be accompanied at all times by a parent or legal guardian who also signs the waiver. Practices are weather dependent and schedules may change, with updates announced as soon as possible. Sunday practices are also offered at West Guth Park, with the first Sunday of each month held at Cole Park. Covid precautions are encouraged. The Shire does not provide food or drink other than bottled water, and individuals may bring their own and share at their own discretion. For questions about practices or SCA fighting, contact the Knight Marshal at marshal@seawinds.ansteorra.org or the Rapier Marshal at rapier@seawinds.ansteorra.org. The SCA aims to support health and safety but cannot eliminate the risk of infectious disease at in-person activities. Low-cost and free pet care options have been brought together into a single drive-thru Community Clinic that welcomes everyone. Services are streamlined in one place and focus on limited veterinary care, and full physical wellness exams are not included. Each clinic can serve up to 50 pets, with a maximum of four pets per vehicle. Select services remain free for those receiving government assistance, with proof of assistance and a matching ID required. The aim is simple... the same care with easier access, gathered into one clinic for the entire community.

Oil Pastel Class with Sina Sung

At the Art Center of Corpus Christi Bayview Gallery, this hands-on oil pastel class centers on building a strong understanding of color and how to use it effectively. Students explore how hues can mix and shift by blending with their hands and by layering different colors. The lesson includes study of the color wheel and complementary relationships to help create depth and richness in finished pieces. The instructor is an oil pastel artist who highlights techniques for achieving detailed textures and nuanced tones through careful blending. Participants should bring a 48-color set of oil pastels, a 9 by 12 inch mixed media sketchbook, and a few tissues and cotton swabs. Port A Week 12

Join a weeklong surfing class at Port A - I.B. Magee Beach Park for ages 6 to 17. The program is for all levels of surfers, with students grouped by age and experience. You’ll learn proper surfing techniques and safety, along with fun lessons about ocean life and surf conditions. Equipment, shade, drinks, and other supplies are provided, and staff are certified in CPR and First Aid. Full-day options run from 8:45 AM to 2:00 PM, and half-day options are also available.

August YPCB Open Networking Mixer & School Drive

This monthly networking mixer and school drive brings together young professionals in the Coastal Bend for conversation, connections, and community support. Snacks will be available, courtesy of State Representative Todd Hunter. The program features guest remarks from Gloria Taylor, CEO of Communities In Schools of the Coastal Bend. Attendees are invited to bring school supplies to benefit Communities In Schools of the Coastal Bend as the new school year approaches. Tuesday Night Golf League (every week)

The league is getting a refresh with a single-night format designed for bigger fields, stronger payouts, and more energy each week. Introducing the Tuesday Night Shootout on The Blue Heron at Lozano Golf Center. Teams of two take part in rotating formats throughout the season with a shotgun start. The cost is $39 per player or $78 per team, and it includes tax and the prize fund. Finished work will be available for pickup in 4 weeks. Instruction is led by Raquel Coburn, who brings more than 12 years of pottery experience and holds a BFA in Ceramics. Sunday Seawinds Fighter Practice 2026

Seawinds hosts a Sunday fighter practice at West Guth Park focused on armored and rapier combat in a friendly, open setting. Look for a small blue and yellow seashell banner to find the group. Spectators are welcome and participation is free. Adults interested in giving it a try can use loaner equipment, must be 18 or older, and need to sign a waiver. Youth Combat is available for ages 6 to 17 using foam-padded weapons, with possible case-by-case approval for 16 and 17 year olds to use adult gear. Youth participants must have a parent or legal guardian present at all times and a waiver is required, and loaner gear is available. Practices depend on the weather and details may change, with updates shared as soon as possible. On the first Sunday of each month the meetup moves to Cole Park, and there are additional midweek practices at East Cliff Park. Questions can be directed to the Knight or Rapier Marshal. COVID precautions are encouraged. Food and drink are not provided except bottled water, though individuals may bring their own and share at their own discretion. The SCA works to support health and safety at in-person activities, yet exposure to infectious diseases remains a risk. Farmers, artisans, and crafters share their work in a welcoming environment that encourages buying local. The market has moved to the Fifth & Elm Venue. Vendors can choose a 10x10 street booth for $20 or a turf lawn booth for $30, and produce vendors participate at no cost. Vendors provide their own tables, chairs, and tents, and electricity is not available. Small, portable generators are allowed only in street spaces and are not permitted on turf. Participation requires a completed vendor application, with all submissions reviewed for approval and limits placed on the number of sellers offering similar items. 2026 Paddle For Parkinson's

Now in its sixteenth year, Paddle for Parkinson’s brings together kayakers and stand up paddleboarders for a loop on the water. Starting at Billish Park Boat Launch, participants follow a 2.5 mile route to a turnaround by the Padre Island Yacht Club and return to the launch. Paddlers of all ages and other human powered craft are welcome on the course, while those on land can enjoy live music, barbecue, and an awards ceremony.

Coastal Bend TX Chapter on the water Kayak Fishing Adventures!

Spend time on the water with a kayak fishing outing in the Coastal Bend area designed for registered Veterans, members of the Armed Forces, First Responders and their immediate family members, as well as volunteers. There is no cost to take part, and all equipment is supplied, including fishing gear and single or tandem kayaks, plus breakfast, a hot lunch, snacks, and a selection of drinks. Participants and volunteers must be pre-registered with the chapter before invitations are issued. A fishing license may be required and is the responsibility of each participant. The focus is on paddling, fishing, and healing.

The Expendables : Get My Fix Tour

Corpus Christi welcomes The Expendables as they bring the Get My Fix Tour to House of Rock. The Santa Cruz band blends ska, surf rock, punk, reggae, and metal, a sound shaped over nearly 25 years since their start as a high school party band. Their catalog includes the studio album Sand in the Sky, acoustic reworkings on Gone Soft and Gone Raw, and the Moment EP, which debuted at number one on the Billboard Reggae chart. YWCA 15th Annual Glo & Go 5k Nite Run/ 2 Mile Walk

Light up the night with YWCA Corpus Christi at a family friendly 15th annual glow run and walk at the Cole Park Amphitheater. Take on a chip timed 5K or enjoy a 2 mile walk, and families with strollers are welcome. Opening ceremonies set the stage before the start. Registration is $30 for adults and $15 for children, with a Couch Potato option for $30 that includes a T-shirt without participating. Kids under 5 are free and do not receive a shirt. Packet pickup is available ahead of time at the YWCA and also on race day at the event site. The 5K features chip timing with awards for top finishers. Runners, walkers, and joggers of all paces are welcome, and glow sticks are encouraged for extra fun.
