Private Sewing Lessons in fashion with Shirin Delsooz

Hands-on private sewing lessons in fashion take place at the Art Center of Corpus Christi Community Gallery with instructor Shirin Delsooz of Havah Designs. These one-on-one sessions are open to ages 8 and older and are tailored to your experience level, pace, and creative goals. Learn to operate a sewing machine with confidence, practice core stitches, and build garment-making techniques for modern clothing. Projects may include items like tote bags, pillowcases, skirts, tops, or dresses, and you will also work on reading patterns, making simple fit adjustments, and developing your own ideas. The focus is apparel, not crafts or quilting. Sewing encourages creativity and confidence, and each lesson supports growth as a maker or designer. One session is currently reserved and another is available. For questions, special requests, or guidance on materials to prepare, contact havah.designs@gmail.com. Shirin is a fashion design entrepreneur with a background in communications and marketing, known for creating digital sewing patterns, producing step-by-step tutorials on YouTube, and designing 3D-printed purses that bring a modern spirit to DIY fashion.

Blue Moon Sound Immersion on May 31

Led by Jonda and Victoria, this Blue Moon Sound Immersion centers on the uncommon moment when a second full moon appears in a single month. The experience is designed to help release stuck energy, settle into quiet, and align with what is ready to emerge. It begins with a tea infused with blue lotus, followed by intention setting, gentle journaling, and a symbolic letting‑go ritual to make room for new possibilities. Afterward, the soundscape of crystal bowls and celestial vocals supports deep physical relaxation and clear, spacious awareness. Presented as more than a typical sound bath, it highlights the rarity of this energetic moment. Bring a yoga mat and a pillow for your head. For added comfort, consider a pillow or bolster for under your knees, a blanket, and anything else that helps you lie down comfortably during the meditation. The Hunchback of Notre Dame

This stage musical brings Victor Hugo’s story to life with songs from the Disney animated film alongside additional numbers by Alan Menken and Stephen Schwartz. Peter Parnell’s script uses story-theatre techniques and incorporates language drawn from Hugo’s gothic novel. Set in fifteenth-century Paris, the tale follows Quasimodo, the secluded bell ringer of Notre Dame, who longs to experience the world beyond the cathedral. During the Feast of Fools he ventures outside and is mocked by the crowd, finding kindness only from Esmeralda, a Romani woman whose spirit also captures the attention of Captain Phoebus and the archdeacon Dom Claude Frollo. As Frollo’s fixation turns into a campaign against the Romani community, Quasimodo must decide where his loyalty and courage will lead him. A sweeping score underscores the drama and emotion of the story. Recommended for ages 8 and up with parental discretion, as the production explores mature themes and includes moments of violence.

Shiplap Workshop

Welcome to the Shiplap Workshop! This event is different from most, as every guest will paint their favorite painting from an array of options, instead of every guest painting the same thing. Upon arrival, artists will provide step-by-step written instructions to follow instead of teaching from the stage. An artist will be available to replenish supplies and help guests as much or as little as needed. Participants will leave with their completed masterpiece. If you prefer more guidance, check out the other events on the public calendar. This event is for those who want the support of an artist and the materials and space to achieve their own custom painting at their own pace. Attendees are encouraged to arrive a little early. This event is recommended for painters 16 & up, and it is a BYOB facility.

The Vinyasa Lab: Understanding Chaturanga & Your Options

A hands-on lab designed to take the guesswork out of the classic vinyasa transition. Instead of rushing through cues, participants slow down to understand what is happening and how to make each phase work for their own bodies. The session focuses on chaturanga, clarifying what it is and what it is not, and examining why it often becomes a source of strain when done on autopilot. Expect practical guidance on alignment, common missteps, strength and conditioning pointers, and adaptable options that let you move with intention rather than trying to match the pace of the room. The goal is a smarter approach, so when a vinyasa is called you can choose what serves you and get there with confidence. Open to newer students, long-time practitioners, and teachers who want to deepen their understanding. The environment prioritizes learning and experimentation so you can identify the variations that truly support your body. Led by Clara, a teacher with 30 years of practice and 20 years of teaching experience, plus a background in Sports Therapy and Yoga Therapy. She teaches with Yoga Medicine and emphasizes alignment and yoga for modern life.

Aerial Unwind: Movement + Sound

Settle into a relaxing aerial yoga session that eases tension and quiets the mind. With gentle support from hammocks, participants move through slow, intentional stretches and light decompression, with optional fully supported inversions that help release the spine and open the hips and shoulders. Expect breath-led sequencing, longer holds, and cozy props that encourage the nervous system to unwind. The class concludes with an extended sound bowl savasana, resting in the hammock as crystal singing bowls create a soothing atmosphere for deep relaxation and reset. This experience welcomes both beginners and seasoned practitioners seeking restoration, and no aerial experience is required. Wear fitted, comfortable clothing without zippers or jewelry, bring water, and bring an extra layer for savasana. The cost is $50. Capacity is limited, and registration is available through Mindbody.

NB Ridaz: Runaway Throwback Night ft. Big Gemini

NB Ridaz brings a Runaway Throwback Night to House of Rock in Corpus Christi. The group’s story stretches back to 1997 with The First Chapter and the hip hop charting single Down For Yours. Founding members Dos and Zig Zag helped shape Latin rap in the Southwest and Arizona, originally performing as Nasty Boy Klick with MC Magic, whose Billboard-recognized tracks include So Fly, Pretty Girl, and Runaway. Their music blends rap, urban, R&B, and hip hop, and the use of Spanish lyrics connected with a broad audience. Special Girl reached the Top 40 among independent albums. After Magic moved into a solo career in the mid-2000s, Dos and Zig Zag continued forward, and the group still draws crowds nationwide. A limited number of table seats are available for purchase. New music is on the way, and the crew remains committed to the fans.
