Cast Theatrical Company presents Horton Foote’s The Trip to Bountiful, directed by Sandra Barkerding. The story centers on Carrie Watts and her unwavering wish to return to the town she once called home. Challenges arise at every step, including a protective son, a controlling daughter-in-law, a missing pension check, and even the local sheriff, yet she remains determined. The Golden Girls Murder Mystery Auditions

The Agatha Murder Mystery Theater is holding auditions for The Golden Girls, Who Murdered Freida Clackston, directed by Beth Ackerman-Ornelas. This parody murder mystery drops Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia into a high-stakes investigation after their thorny neighbor, Freida Clackston, is killed, and the quartet must uncover the culprit to clear their own names. Actors can expect cold readings from the script. Roles sought include the core foursome: Dorothy Zbornak, sharp and steady with dry wit; Rose Nylund, kindhearted and guileless with a storyteller’s spirit; Blanche Devereaux, a confident Southern charmer; and Sophia Petrillo, quick-tongued and loving. Additional ensemble parts portray neighbors, family, and other familiar figures. Performances are planned at The Agatha Theater in Rosenberg, Texas. Rehearsals are scheduled for Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with additional sessions added if needed. All roles are non-union and unpaid, and the production is designed to honor the classic series while offering a fresh live-theater experience suitable for all ages. Sunday Funday

At Jones Creek Ranch Park, Houston Disc Golf hosts a roaming bag tag challenge paired with a cash mini that welcomes every skill level from first timer to seasoned pro. Founded in 2011, the club emphasizes a friendly atmosphere and competitive play guided by PDGA standards, even though the round itself is not PDGA sanctioned. Scoring is handled through UDisc League, and each participant is responsible for checking in on the app to remain eligible. Annual membership is $20 for any division and includes a bag tag, and the tournament director may place nonmembers in an appropriate division based on score. Divisions span Novice or Beginner with orange tags, Recreational with green, Intermediate with blue, Advanced with red, and Open or Pro with gold and black. Optional cash pots are available, set at $5 for Novice through Advanced and $15 for Open or Pro. An optional $6 ACE and CTP combo is also offered, with $2 each going to ace, CTP, and the club. Ace payouts are $100 for nonmembers, while current members receive 80 percent of the ace pot with a minimum of $100 and a maximum of $500. The ace pot grows across all Houston Disc Golf bag tag and mini events. Players may form mixed division cards, with a minimum of three and a maximum of four unless the tournament director approves otherwise. At least three players must be on a card to qualify for ace, CTP, or cash pots, and not following card size rules can disqualify the entire group. One or more CTP holes will be offered depending on turnout, with the pot shared equally among winners and typical flag markers at the tee and near the pin for verification. Each player may use one mulligan per round. It must be called right after the throw and before anyone picks up a marker or another player throws, and you cannot walk ahead to check the lie before deciding. Mulligans are allowed on CTP holes. An ace thrown on a mulligan counts as a one on the card but does not earn the ace pot, and a shot cannot be both a provisional and a mulligan. Out of bounds includes parking lots, streets, sidewalks, paths, fences and beyond. Play from one meter in from the point the disc last crossed in bounds, add one penalty stroke, and have the card agree on the spot. Ponds and creeks are out of bounds unless the tournament director says otherwise, while standing water is casual unless marked. Discs not touching land are out of bounds. Lost discs require a retee or a throw from the last in bounds position with a penalty after the group agrees on the location. Missing a mandatory calls for the drop zone if available or a retee plus a penalty. There is no two meter rule. Cash ties for first place are decided by a CTP hole chosen by the tournament director, and all other ties split evenly. Turn in tags before the round and they will be redistributed by score after play. Top 10 tag ties are settled by the previously lower tag, while all other tags are auto sorted in UDisc. If you cannot finish or cannot stay to pick up a tag, arrange for someone to collect it, since unclaimed tags are forfeited. Replacements for lost or forfeited tags cost $5. Cash winners must be present to receive payment, and unclaimed cash is forfeited. Payouts follow the club’s chart, pay 30 percent of each division’s field, and return 100 percent of cash collected to players.

Auditions - The Golden Girls Murder Mystery

Auditions are open for The Golden Girls: Who Murdered Freida Clackston, a playful murder mystery that places Dorothy, Rose, Blanche, and Sophia at the heart of a neighborhood whodunit. Their longtime neighbor Freida Clackston, known for clashing with others over a century-old tree, is found dead, and the foursome must piece together the clues to prove their innocence. Presented by The Agatha Murder Mystery Theater and directed by Beth Ackerman-Ornelas, performances will be staged at The Agatha Theater in Rosenberg, Texas. Auditions will consist of cold readings from the script. Roles include Dorothy Zbornak, the grounded and sharp-witted voice of reason; Rose Nylund, warm-hearted and ingenuous with a flair for tall tales; Blanche Devereaux, a confident southern charmer with plenty of glamour; and Sophia Petrillo, wise, quick-tongued, and fiercely loving. An ensemble of neighbors, family, and other recurring characters is also needed. The principal roles are written for performers who can portray characters in their 50s to 60s, with Sophia in the 70s to 80s. Rehearsals are planned for Wednesday and Thursday evenings, with additional sessions added if needed. All roles are non-union and unpaid. To register, email Beth@creativelearningsociety.com and include Golden Girls Audition in the subject line. Walk-in candidates may be seen as time allows. The production salutes the spirit of the classic series while offering a fresh live-theater twist for audiences of all ages.

Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat

A beloved tale leaps from page to stage in this lively production of Dr. Seuss's The Cat in the Hat, billed as the number one Cat in the Hat show worldwide. On a gray, rainy afternoon, two children see their boredom upended when a cat in a red striped hat drops by, trailed by Thing One and Thing Two. Their watchful Fish objects, the antics build, and imagination turns a quiet home into a whirlwind of playful chaos. Drawn from the 1957 classic written with just 200 words and adapted for the stage in 2009 by the National Theatre of Britain, this high energy version brings laughs, surprises, and a dash of delightful disorder that may even spill into the aisles. Fans who grew up with the book, and kids discovering it now, can expect mischievous humor, madcap style, and a gentle reminder that making your own fun starts with a little know how.

Hope In Motion

Hope In Motion is a relaxed, non-competitive 1.8 mile walk at Brazos River Park focused on raising awareness and inspiring hope to prevent suicide. Proceeds support Fort Bend Mental Health by funding education, advocacy, and local resources for individuals and families in Fort Bend County, and a portion of the funds also supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention. Building on the progress of the event previously known as Hike for Hope, this community gathering highlights the urgent need for mental health awareness and suicide prevention. Suicide is the 11th leading cause of death in the United States, and in 2022, 10.3 out of every 100,000 Fort Bend County residents died by suicide. Fort Bend Mental Health works to promote mental wellness and prevent suicide through awareness efforts, training, education, and connections to compassionate support. The organization envisions a community where mental health is prioritized, understood, and supported, free of stigma and strengthened by open conversation and accessible care. With an intentionally local approach, Fort Bend Mental Health serves as a bridge to resources, professionals, and community support, equipping everyday helpers such as parents, teachers, faith leaders, coworkers, law enforcement, business leaders, elected officials, and friends to recognize distress, offer compassionate support, and connect people to care. Participation in the walk helps sustain these locally driven efforts so no one in Fort Bend County is left behind.

At Destiny Event Venue, Sanjay Sabha Live brings a celebrated series of Carnatic concerts conceived and led by vocalist Sanjay Subrahmanyan. Introduced in 2021 as full-length digital performances on YouTube to keep live music within reach during the pandemic, the series quickly built a dedicated following for its careful presentation and rich musical content. It then moved to stages in major Indian cities such as Chennai, Bangalore, and Coimbatore, and also reached audiences in Singapore and Australia, offering an immersive program spanning compositions in Tamil, Telugu, Sanskrit, Malayalam, and Kannada. On stage, Sanjay is joined by S. Varadarajan on violin and Neyveli Venkatesh on mridangam. Varadarajan’s expressive precision highlights the nuances of each raga, while Venkatesh’s rhythmic command adds drive and intricate patterns that deepen the melodic flow. Affectionately known as the Men in White, this trio is closely associated with musical excellence, with Sanjay’s distinctive voice supported by the finely tuned interplay of Varadarajan and Venkatesh.

Yoga for Spinal Health - Closed Twists and Backbends

A three-part workshop devoted to spinal health blends purposeful movement, careful alignment, anatomy-based conversation, and reflective self-inquiry. Each installment focuses on a specific family of shapes to cultivate space, strength, and mobility through the spine. It welcomes beginners, longtime practitioners, and the simply curious, and each workshop stands on its own or can be combined with the others for a fuller arc. This final session leans into a quieter, inward-facing practice. It begins in Virasana, using the pose as a place to observe posture, habitual holding, and breath. From there, participants explore related poses to clarify how they influence the spine. The emphasis is on rotational work that crosses toward the front leg and on folding patterns that turn attention inward. Twisting helps gently wring the spine and stimulate the organs, while folding eases the back body and supports a shift toward rest. Throughout, the priority is length before depth, with hip hinging and lower abdominal support to protect the low back. Props are incorporated generously so the body can release without strain. The experience balances energetic integration with tangible mobility and is designed to leave participants feeling more spacious, soothed, and attuned to the rhythm of their spine and breath. Price is 30 dollars for members and 40 dollars for non-members. Cancellations must be made at least 24 hours in advance to receive a refund or credit.
