Sueños is a queer Chicanx writer, educator, translator, mother, and community advocate, cofounder and editor of Infrarrealista Review, with work published in Acentos Review, New York Quarterly, Sybil Journal, The Skink Beat Review, Porter House Review, Nat. Brut, and the Westchester Review. From Zacatecas, she has collaborated with the Texas After Violence Project since 2021, holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Texas State, and is the author of the hybrid poetry collection topography of a border / line bird from Mouthfeel Press. This class meets the State of Texas requirements for obtaining your License to Carry. Upon completion, you will receive a certificate needed to apply for your LTC. The course covers concealed carry and home defense fundamentals, including developing a personal and home protection plan, self-defense firearms basics, shooting fundamentals, gear and gadgets, the legal use of force, violent encounters and the aftermath, and basic and advanced skills. Other topics include personal safety, handgun safety, handgun fundamentals, handgun operation, handgun selection, and physiological reactions to violent encounters. This course is a guide to understanding the basics of firearms ownership, safety, and nomenclature, and how it applies to home- or self-defense. Students will learn how to act as their family’s first line of defense.
