This 5th annual fall bike night supports the Hydrocephalus Association. Riders of any make or model, as well as non-riders, are welcome to enjoy the sights, sounds, and great food. The Luxurious Panthers will perform a live set of original music, and Khói Barbecue will be serving on-site. A raffle will raise funds for the Hydrocephalus Association, with prize details to come. Hydrocephalus is a complex, life-threatening condition caused by an excessive buildup of cerebrospinal fluid on the brain. Treatment requires brain surgery, most often the placement of a shunt to drain the fluid. The hosts’ children, Kai and Ryder, have confronted this condition in a very personal way. Of 31 surgeries they have undergone, 18 were related to hydrocephalus. Ryder has had 17 of those procedures and relies on two VP shunts. Founded in 1983 to support families facing hydrocephalus, the Hydrocephalus Association has grown into the nation’s largest organization devoted exclusively to this condition. Since 2009, its $14 million research investment has helped generate $88 million in additional research, making it the largest non-profit, non-governmental funder of hydrocephalus research in the United States. The association continues to advance promising paths toward better treatments and a cure. Tickets may be purchased online or in-store, winners do not need to be present, and 100% of ticket sales will benefit the Hydrocephalus Association. Raffle item details are coming soon.

2026 Winter Trout Series Kick Off Event

The West End Marina & Restaurants, 21706 Burnet Dr, Galveston
    See details

The FishWestEnd Winter Trout Series kicks off at The West End Marina & Restaurants with Tournament #1, where teams of up to two anglers compete for the heaviest three trout stringer. Entry is $120 per angler and guides are allowed. Competitors may fish by boat, personal watercraft, kayak, or on foot within the stated boundaries. Artificial lures are required and all fish must be caught on rod and reel. Maintain at least 50 yards from other teams, with personal watercraft staying within 50 yards of each other, and wade fishing is permitted within sight of a teammate up to 200 yards. No fish may be given to or accepted from another team and no outside communication to locate fish is allowed. Launching from any location is permitted, with staging rules for no wake zones in effect. The heaviest trout stringer wins, with a maximum of three trout per team. All fish must measure 15 inches or longer. This is a catch, weigh, and release format using video. Each submission must show a zeroed Catch Commander scale, the entire fish, a locked weight, the audible code word, and the weight read aloud and clearly visible, followed by a successful release. Teams may submit more than three videos and the top three will count. The angler who lands a fish must stop casting and promptly weigh, record, and release it before continuing to fish. Return to the marina by the stated deadline to obtain an official weigh slip, confirm attendance, and complete polygraph and awards. All participants are subject to polygraph testing. Paid participants who check in at the marina during weigh-in and the polygraph and awards receive a gift card for use at the marina. In the event of a tie, weigh-in order determines the winner. The weigh master’s rulings are final, and any protest requires a non-refundable $300 fee for a second polygraph. Sponsors and organizers are not responsible for accidents, injuries, or property loss. Checks or electronic payouts go to the top five teams based on a 50 team field, with awards of $3,250 for first, $2,250 for second, $1,250 for third, $750 for fourth, and $500 for fifth. An optional Big Trout side pot is available at $20 per angler with a 60 percent, 30 percent, and 10 percent payout. This is an individual category and if one teammate enters, both must enter. Fish from the team stringer may be used for the side pot and ties are settled by the earlier submitted weight. Trophies are awarded to the top five teams and the top three in the side pot. The official tournament scale is Catch Commander, and no other scale is permitted. A captain’s meeting at Serious Tackle requires one member of each team to attend with the tournament scale for calibration. Awards and drinks take place at West End Restaurant & Sand Bar. For anglers fishing the full series, Team of the Year is determined by total weight across four events and requires participation in all four. The series entry is $200 per angler or $400 for a two person team, and a substitute angler may be used for one event only with an additional $200 series entry. If bad weather forces a change, the event will be rescheduled. If it cannot be held, all entry fees will be refunded.
