The training builds a clear, realistic plan for handling knife attacks, setting aside common myths from martial arts and social media while letting participants test solutions to frequent scenarios. Instruction covers awareness, managing distance, effective fending and blocking, approaches to attachments and disarms, and how to transition to a firearm. A strong pressure-testing segment uses training blades and protective equipment to validate skills under stress. Participants are required to bring their own groin protection and mouth guards. Operation True North’s 4th Annual Patriot Day Golf Classic brings golfers together at Crossing Creeks Country Club for a day on the course dedicated to remembrance and community support. The schedule features check-in with breakfast, followed by a memorial ceremony recognizing those who protect and serve, then tournament play beginning in a shotgun format. Proceeds support Operation True North, a Longview-based 501(c)(3) that offers counseling and peer support for veterans, active duty service members, first responders, healthcare professionals, and their families throughout Texas, available in person and via televideo. Participants may register as a team or as an individual to take part in friendly competition with a meaningful purpose. Sponsorship opportunities are offered at multiple levels, and registration and sponsorships can be completed online or by using the event QR code.
