WTMX Park Summer Night Race Series (Round 2)

Round 2 of the WTMX Park Summer Night Race Series brings an evening of fast laps and friendly competition to West Texas Motocross Park. This monthly summer series lets riders chase points and build a season of strong finishes, ending with an awards celebration once the series wraps. The program flows from gates opening to practice, followed by a rider meeting, then racing right after. Spectator admission is $20 cash at the gate, with free entry for kids 6 and under and for seniors 60 and over. Racer entry is $40 per race, per class. Riders can sign up at the track on race day, and details about pre-registration are available on the venue’s website. Classes span a wide range, including 50cc, 65cc, 85cc and Supermini categories, 250cc and 450cc skill divisions from beginner through pro, age brackets starting over 25 and moving up in decades, girls and ladies classes, youth-focused Schoolboy and Collegeboy, plus open classes for beginner, novice, intermediate and pro. Expect racing under the lights with a format designed to keep the action moving from practice to the final checkered flag.

The closing block of a three-part day arrives as an open-air downtown finale set in the West Texas evening air. Admission is free for all ages, and a VIP option is offered. The program begins with a welcome from Councilman Brian Stubbs and stage hosting by emcee Ariel Herrera. Live music starts with Leon Carrasco, continues with the Huser Brother Band, and culminates in a headlining set from Cole Phillips for Cultura West, complete with an encore to finish the night. Created for the Odessa community, Parlor Talk is a free wellness gathering for anyone navigating grief, loss, or the collective strain the city has faced. Seating is limited and registration is required, and the exact location in Odessa will be provided to registered guests 48 hours beforehand. Appreciation goes to Amy McNeil for opening her salon, whose welcoming space inspired the name Parlor Talk. Donations are welcome for those who wish to support this work.

Summer Art Camp: MYTHICAL MASH UP 🦄 🧚 🐉

Dive into a week of hands-on art and playful experimentation with a Mythical Mash Up theme. Kids paint, craft, make slime, explore simple science, play games, and tackle fresh projects each day, blending learning with plenty of fun. The messy parts are handled on site, so families skip the cleanup. Each summer session features a unique theme with projects that build over the week, and this one highlights fantastical creatures. Families can choose a four-day or five-day format, and drop-in spots are limited and may be released online in April or May if available. This camp is for children ages 4 through 14. Participants under age 4 require manager approval prior to registration. Campers must be fully potty independent, and restroom assistance is not provided. Sessions are drop-off and just for kids. Children may bring a packed lunch or purchase a meal for $5 per day. The lunch menu will be announced later.

Healing Hearts is a monthly grief support series hosted by Medical Center Hospital for families who have experienced pregnancy, infant, or perinatal loss. Sessions take place on the 4th floor of the MCH Center for Women & Infants on the MCH campus. The group provides a caring space to connect with others who have faced similar loss, find validation, and honor their babies through remembrance and shared experiences. The vision centers on a community that values every baby’s life, respects each parent’s grief, and encourages healing through connection and memory. Each gathering focuses on a specific theme, including open circles that invite participants to take what they need, understanding triggers and the body’s response to grief, navigating relationships when others do not understand, how to talk with children and the wider community, ways partners and support people can give and receive care, and holding moments of joy alongside sadness. Summer Science Camp: Expedition Earth

Expedition Earth invites young learners to step into the role of Earth scientists through hands-on experiments, creative engineering challenges, and interactive activities. Participants explore topics such as minerals and rocks, weather systems, landforms, and ecosystems, then put concepts into practice by testing ideas and working through real-world questions. The emphasis is on discovering how our planet functions and how scientific thinking can guide efforts to care for it. Designed for ages 8 to 12. Sponsored by Oxy as part of the Summer Science Camps.

Movies in the Park concludes at Centennial Park in Midland with a galactic adventure. Pre-movie activities include a PBS KIDS episode, and the program continues with the feature film. Hot August Nights Car Show 2026

Young Professionals of Odessa presents a community car show benefiting the Permian Basin Reability Center. The showcase features classic cars, motorcycles, jeeps and trucks, plus hot rods and lowriders. All proceeds will be donated to the Permian Basin Reability Center. 1st Saturday at the Stadium

Get moving at James Segrest Stadium during this 1st Saturday community event. Walk the track, go for a run, or play and enjoy time outdoors at OC. Options include intramural games led by OC Intramurals and a free live fitness class, or you can use the open track at your own pace. Everyone in the community is welcome. Activity details may be updated as the day approaches. For the care of the track and field surfaces, strollers, skateboards, bicycles, sunflower seeds, gum, and food are not allowed on those areas.

DFW Card Show Midland

DFW Card Show brings a collector-focused gathering to Bush Convention Center, offering a chance to connect with fellow enthusiasts and track down a new centerpiece for any collection. The show features sports cards, Pokémon, and a variety of other collectibles in a welcoming, community centered setting. General admission is $5, and children 12 and under get in free. Families are welcome, and collectors can bring their want lists to look for specific items.

The Midland Palette Club Art Center

FREE - Making Trading Cards for Creatives

Artist Trading Cards are miniature works of art, the size of a baseball card at 2.5 by 3.5 inches, that can often be finished in about 15 minutes and later traded at swap meets. To encourage creativity in the community, the Palette Club and ArtbyMalm are teaming up to host free summer gatherings focused on making these cards. Participants ages 8 through adult are welcome, and minors must be accompanied by an adult. The first five people at each session receive a kit to help them get started. Blank cards are available, and attendees should bring their own decorating supplies such as scissors, glue, markers, paint, pencils, and ephemera. Palette Club membership is not required. An ATC swap meet is planned for August for those who want to trade their creations.

Lowriders Against Bullying Carshow focuses on working together across the lowrider community. The event directs support to both car clubs and independent builders, recognizing the part each one plays in creating positive change and lifting up future generations. Best of Show recipients will receive yearlong spotlights on official social media, the event website, and anti-bullying campaigns, helping carry the message beyond the event itself. Public show hours will be announced once confirmed, and participant move-in details are provided through event communications.
