The route heads north on US 54, takes the MLK exit with a left turn, then continues left on Highway 404, right on 28, and right on Hickory to the destination. The return travels on Highway 478, then left on Loop 397 to DQ for the final stop and end of the ride. Wearing proper protective gear is strongly encouraged, including a helmet, boots, gloves, long pants, and a long sleeve shirt. Participation is at your own risk. San Jacinto PlazaMeet & Greet: Lucy Griffith — Songs of the Ocotillo
Regional poet Lucy Griffith returns to Front Street Books for a meet and greet focused on her new poetry collection, Songs of the Ocotillo. Griffith lives along the Guadalupe River near Comfort, Texas, is a retired psychologist, and is a certified Texas Master Naturalist. She contributes regularly to Texas Star, the award-winning publication of the Hill Country Chapter of Texas Master Naturalists, and was a 2025 WILLA Literary Award finalist in poetry from Women Writing the West. Songs of the Ocotillo was created with Marfa-based artist Darlene Marwitz, pairing verse with visual art in tribute to the ocotillo of the Chihuahuan Desert. A limited number of poster broadsides by Griffith and Marwitz will also be available for purchase.

Born from a group of car lovers who enjoyed cruising the Big Bend region of West Texas, this gathering celebrates driving, community, and scenic roads. The mission has stayed the same through the years, building camaraderie among enthusiasts while supporting the local community. Earlier editions started with a modest turnout and have grown to dozens of cars, with the 2025 event raising more than $20,000 for local causes. The routes through Alpine, Terlingua, Big Bend, and Fort Davis are a highlight for participants. Activities are centered at The Stable Performance Cars. The schedule spans multiple days with an appreciation lunch, on-site registration and swag bag pickup, and a meet and greet at the venue. Festivities continue with a car show at the venue with breakfast available for purchase, the kickoff of a poker run and scavenger hunt from the same location, and calendar photo sessions by appointment, with lunch and dinner on your own. Another day features more cruising, the ongoing poker run and scavenger hunt, lunch on your own, a group photo at a location to be announced, then returning to the venue for turning in poker hands, a provided dinner, live and silent auctions, and car show awards. The final morning includes breakfast in Fort Stockton before departure. Early bird and regular registration options are available. Driver registration is $200 for early bird or $250 regular and includes the Sunday dinner, vehicle decals, an event shirt, car show participation, and administrative costs such as venues and insurance. Drivers handle their own lodging, fuel, and any fines.
