Nathan turns to high roller Sky Masterson for the stake, and Sky’s wager sends him pursuing the earnest missionary Sarah Brown. The story travels from Times Square to the cafes of Havana and even into the New York sewers, and in the end the characters find their rightful place. Some sprint, some jog, and others walk the whole time, and every fitness level can contribute. The sport relies on Spirit of the Game principles such as self-officiation, respect, and communication to resolve calls without outside officials. If questions arise, on-field leaders make the final call, and any concerns can be directed to Dann. Those who prefer not to play often enjoy the sidelines. People bring chairs and snacks, cheer for favorite players or teams, take laps on the hospital track, or relax with card games and a blanket. Many have come simply to support, walk, and socialize. Helpful notes: bring water since it can be hot. Soccer cleats offer good traction, though regular athletic shoes work fine. If the field seems empty, it may just be early or a brief delay, and participants usually gather on the grass and toss a disc while waiting. Friends are welcome, players do not need to be single, and for safety children are discouraged from joining play unless they can keep pace with adults, though kids can enjoy the sidelines or walking paths.
