Take a guided walk led by a naturalist on the Swaner Preserve to explore wetland science, native plants and wildlife, and the history of this unique landscape. Seasonal highlights may include abundant birds, elk, or even nesting sandhill cranes. Pre-registration is required, walk-ins are not available, and group size is limited to 15 participants. The route is mostly flat with a gentle uphill section, though tall grass, uneven ground, and wet areas may be encountered and could be difficult for some young children and seniors. Participants who prefer a shorter outing may turn around at any point. Dogs are not permitted in order to protect sensitive wetland habitat. When the preserve is snow-covered, the walk shifts to snowshoes, with rentals available from the EcoCenter if needed (2.50 dollars for members, 5 dollars for non-members). Please dress for the weather. In spring, summer, and fall, bring sturdy footwear, long pants, water, and sun protection such as sunscreen, sunglasses, and a hat. In winter, plan for snow gear including boots, snow pants, a hat, gloves, a coat, sunglasses, and a water bottle.

Support Swaner EcoCenter’s popular Sunday Craft program by volunteering during busy weekend hours. This kid-centered role welcomes children, helps them create simple themed nature or upcycled projects, keeps the crafting space safe and tidy from setup through cleanup, and sparks curiosity about the natural world through friendly conversation. Sign-ups are flexible, whether for a single shift or on a recurring basis. To make room for everyone, volunteers are asked to take no more than two shifts per month. Each reservation is for one person only, so if more than one individual wishes to help, each must sign up separately. Plan to arrive about 30 minutes before the activity begins to prepare and review instructions, and stay roughly 15 minutes afterward to wrap up. Open to ages 12 and older. Volunteers should be friendly, patient, reliable, and comfortable in a lively, child-focused setting. No prior art or teaching background is required.

The CabinCar Seat Safety Class
Learn the essentials of child passenger safety in a one hour class offered in both Spanish and English. It is designed for parents and caregivers preparing for a newborn, moving a growing child into the next seat, seeking help installing a seat they already own, or replacing a seat that has expired. Expect clear guidance on how to choose the right car seat and hands-on practice installing it correctly in your vehicle. There is a $40 fee that covers education and personalized installation support. The fee is waived for income-eligible families when the primary caregiver is enrolled in WIC, SNAP, or Medicaid. Please register ahead of time, and during sign up you can indicate if a car seat is needed.

A symphonic salute marking America’s 250th year arrives in Midway, the mountain town often called Little Switzerland of Utah. Set outdoors with verdant scenery and cool alpine breezes, the concert blends patriotic spirit with beloved classical selections, Broadway favorites, American folk tunes, and more. Highlights include music by American greats such as Aaron Copland and Leroy Anderson, along with John Williams’ Liberty Fanfare. Western-themed works add regional flair, including Elie Siegmeister’s Western Suite and Copland’s Hoe-Down from Rodeo. Western Suite holds a special place in local history, having been first recorded with the Utah Symphony under Maurice Abravanel in 1971. The program also features the serene Adagietto from Mahler’s Symphony No. 5, a favorite of Abravanel that the Utah Symphony first recorded in 1975. Violinist Aubree Oliverson, a Utah native and recent Masterworks soloist with the Utah Symphony, appears as a featured guest. Soprano Amy Owens, a former Utah Opera Resident Artist, performs Glitter and Be Gay from Bernstein’s Candide, Quando m’en vo from Puccini’s La bohème, and Ricky Ian Gordon’s Simple Child from The Grapes of Wrath. These selections honor Utah’s arts legacy, noting that La bohème was Utah Opera’s first production in 1978 and The Grapes of Wrath was co-commissioned and premiered in 2007.
July 4th Volleyball Tournament 2026
Park City Recreation presents a Utah Outdoor Volleyball Association sanctioned doubles tournament with Men's, Women's, and Juniors divisions. Grass brackets for Juniors, Novice, B, BB, A, and AA compete at the Park City Sports Complex on Multipurpose Field D next to the turf field, while Men's and Women's Open take place on the sand at the City Park Sand Volleyball Courts (North). All teams begin in pool play, with qualifying pairs advancing to a single-elimination bracket, and prizes awarded to the top three teams in each division. Registration is completed online, and each teammate must sign up separately and list their partner. Late online registration is available after the regular deadline. Day-of registration is offered at the Park City Sports Complex. Payment is by credit card only and cash is not accepted. Take a relaxed bike ride while learning how to recognize common noxious weeds in the Snyderville Basin. The route begins at the Swaner EcoCenter and follows paved and packed gravel paths toward Willow Creek Park, with stops along the way to identify and discuss noxious weed species. Participants who need a bike can note this during registration and will receive instructions to borrow one at no cost from Summit Bike Share for the ride. This adult-focused outing is part of Swaner’s Walks, Talks, and Workshops and is presented in partnership with Basin Recreation and USU Extension Summit County. It is free and open to the public. Helmets are required while riding. Registered attendees will receive an email with guidance on what to wear and bring.

Guided tours begin at Copper Moose Farm and follow McLeod Creek Trail, each lasting about 1.5 hours at a relaxed pace with multiple site-specific stops along the route. After the tour, guests can unwind at the Copper Moose Farm Stand’s outdoor lounge with food, drinks, and live music. Presented by the Arts Council of Park City & Summit County with support from Basin Recreation and Copper Moose Farm Stand.

The Little Bellas Park City Weekly 2 Explore Program gives girls ages 12 to 15 a chance to deepen their mountain biking skills while sharing the trail with peers in a friendly, noncompetitive setting. It blends adventure, progression, and connection so riders can keep growing and enjoy time on the bike together. Across five weeks, the group rides at both Quinn’s Junction and Trailside Skills Park. The season opens at Quinn’s Junction to build comfort on the local trails, then moves to Trailside, where riders can lap a one mile loop of singletrack and experiment in the skills area on features like balance beams, ramps, bermed corners, and other technical elements. Each week is led by a team of mentors rather than traditional coaches, with trail rides, games, and activities that encourage confidence, skill development, and a lasting love of riding. If a bike is needed or financial assistance would help, requests can be made through the registration form.
