Marceline VineyardsCoffee & Canvas Chicken
A lively painting session hosted by the talented JoAnne features a fun, funky, adorable chicken as the subject. The cost is $30 and covers the class and all materials.
Broadway Coffee HouseLarry Keel Duo
Set on the Clementine Main Stage, this performance pairs award-winning flatpicking guitarist and songwriter Larry Keel, rooted in Appalachian tradition and based in historic Lexington, VA, with Winston Mitchell on mandolin and acoustic guitar. Keel blends bluegrass and classic country with rock energy and a spirit of jazz improvisation, and the duo draws from his original catalog alongside creative renditions of choice covers. Mitchell’s musical journey began with guidance from his father, a guitarist, singer, songwriter, and pedal steel player. After years on electric guitar, he took up the mandolin, drawing inspiration from Jeff Austin and Sam Bush and exploring the origins of bluegrass. The set carries a relaxed, behind-the-scenes feel that remains lively and adventurous, inviting listeners into the creative flow as songs lock in and stretch out. Tickets are $20.
Clementine Cafe5K Run/Walk to end Colon Cancer
A community 5K run and walk at the JMU Festival Lawn shines a light on colon cancer awareness. Organized by the SVG team and JMU SAAC, this event encourages turning a local effort into a broader movement for colorectal cancer education and action. Dr. Pou encourages starting meaningful conversations at home by reaching out to parents and loved ones about screening and symptoms. For adults 45 and older, a colonoscopy is recommended as the leading screening option. Those younger than 45 are reminded not to ignore warning signs and to seek care early. Early detection saves lives, and the Scope It Out message underscores that there is no time to wait. Donations support the Colorectal Cancer Alliance.
