MAKE Roanoke Maker Meetup and Show & Tell | Open to the Public

MAKE Roanoke hosts a monthly Maker Meetup that is open to the public and features a community Show and Tell. The gathering begins with a slideshow highlighting news from the nonprofit makerspace, including upcoming activities, newly added tools, and member updates. After that, participants can present their own creations during a Maker Show and Tell, whether that is a 3D print, a woodworking project, an electronics build, embroidery, or any other hands-on work. It is a friendly setting to meet other makers in Roanoke, find inspiration, collaborate, and share a passion for creating. There is no cost to attend and membership is not required. Because the makerspace is an active workshop, everyone must wear closed-toe shoes at all times, and items like loose jewelry or lanyards may need to be removed or secured for safety.

MOONSHINE, an eight-track follow-up to SUNSHINE on Nether Family Records, captures the spirit of their live shows with deep rhythms, smooth vocals, and driving beats. 🌕 Strawberry Moon Sanctuary Breath & Sound Immersion

At the Crystal Cottage, a gentle sanctuary unfolds in honor of the Strawberry Moon, offering a restorative pause to soften mental noise, honor what has been built, and welcome what is ready to grow. Inspired by the grounding qualities associated with the Capricorn full moon, this intimate experience centers reflection, steadiness, and clear intention. The session weaves calming breathwork with guided EFT tapping supported by NLP affirmations, a crystal singing bowl sound immersion, guided imagery, and a gratitude and intention practice. Crystal energy is thoughtfully integrated throughout the space to encourage receptivity, creativity, and intuitive insight, while eye masks, blankets, and aromatherapy provide soothing comfort. This is not a performance. It is a time to receive, settle, and reconnect with your inner rhythm. Expect to leave feeling lighter, grounded, emotionally nourished, and more attuned to your inner sanctuary, with a gifted crystal to carry your intentions forward. This experience is well suited for those feeling overwhelmed, seeking a meaningful full moon ritual, or interested in exploring breathwork, sound healing, or crystal energy to reset the nervous system and restore clarity. Please bring a yoga mat, a favorite blanket or shawl, a journal and pen, a water bottle, and comfortable breathable clothing. Space is intentionally limited to maintain an intimate setting. The gathering is guided by Tanvi Patil, PharmD, RYT-500, who blends yogic practices with modern approaches such as breath science, gentle re-patterning, and imagery to create trauma aware, heart centered spaces for real transformation.

Guitars Under The Star Acoustic Guitar Pull & Song Circle

Guitars Under The Star Acoustic Guitar Pull & Song Circle, also called Group Therapy, is an outdoor acoustic gathering that began during the COVID era and has continued as a community tradition. Musicians meet with instruments in hand to share songs on the grassy area across from the lower observation deck at Mill Mountain Star. Originals and covers are both welcome. Participants range from touring professionals to people who simply enjoy playing and singing, and listeners are welcome even if they do not perform. Plan to park in the lower lot near the lower deck and bring a folding chair, your favorite tunes, a cool drink, and bug spray. Expect a pleasant breeze from high above the city. Start times shift with the season as days grow longer and warmer, and any location changes are shared through the Facebook page. If the weather is iffy, the group will try the Discovery Center first or the picnic shelter behind the Star just off the path. If conditions are severe with thunder, lightning, or high winds, the fallback location is 3rd Street Coffeehouse. Now in its 40th year, 3rd Street Coffeehouse is a volunteer-run non-profit listening room that does not charge a cover. Contributions to the tip bucket are appreciated when possible, but not required. Appreciation is extended to the City of Roanoke and Gretch Boeren at the Discovery Center for their support.

Tom Petty Tribute: The Broken Hearts

Part of the Cundiff Heating & Cooling Flashback Concert Series, The Broken Hearts bring a heartfelt celebration of Tom Petty’s music. The group was created by Charlie Souza, a former Tom Petty and Mudcrutch bandmate, together with singer and songwriter Shawn Scheller after Petty’s passing. What began as a short-term memorial project soon drew ongoing requests, eventually becoming an official touring tribute honoring the life and music of Thomas Earl Petty. The current lineup features guitarist Mateo Olivo in the role of Mike Campbell, Dave Walker as bassist Ron Blair, Aidan Cain as Benmont Tench on keyboards, piano, synthesizers, harmonica and acoustic guitar, and Chris “Blu” McDonald as Stan Lynch on drums. Original member Scott Lockhart contributes drums, guitar, harmonica, vocals, percussion and live production, while Shawn Scheller portrays Tom Petty on vocals and both acoustic and electric guitars. Earlier iterations included Robin Swenson, Joe Sanders and Scott Lockhart. This concert takes place rain or shine. Children 12 and younger receive free entry in general admission areas. There is no re-entry. Credit cards and cash are accepted at the gate, though some vendors may accept cash only. Angelic Reiki Level 1 & 2 Workshop

This Level 1 and 2 Angelic Reiki workshop focuses on awakening an unconditional connection with the healing energy of the Angelic Kingdom. It is intended as a meaningful gift for personal growth and for sharing support with friends and family. While it does not provide a professional qualification, many participants experience it as a catalyst for discovering and following their life purpose, and for some it becomes a step toward sharing Angelic Reiki with others as a healer or teacher. The experience emphasizes personal healing and spiritual development, helping you recognize your own gifts and talents and deepen your ability to be there for loved ones. The approach is practical, with plenty of time to both give and receive Angelic Reiki sessions. Attunements are facilitated by the Angelic Kingdom of Light, with the energy transmitted directly rather than through a human channel, which is described as maintaining the purity of the connection.
