Families and caregivers who have questions about a child's learning or development can access evaluations for ages 3 through 22. Identifying needs early helps connect students with the right support. For children ages 3 to 5, the screening may look at speech and language, hearing and vision, cognitive and pre-academic readiness, motor skills, social emotional growth, and self help skills. In the classroom, Mr. Johnson, an AP Language and Composition teacher, doubts that some students can meet the challenge, and Miss Halden sets out to prove otherwise. A jock, a brain, a cheerleader, and another classmate move beyond stereotypes as they confront skepticism and an accusation together. Fedore's path to fiction includes early encouragement from a first grade teacher in High Wycombe, England, a childhood in a military family with three siblings, and years spent living in England, France, Germany, and a variety of states. She taught high school English for eleven years, served six years as an assistant principal, and was a principal for twelve. She writes a monthly blog, her debut novel Pigs and Flakes earned a Bronze Feathered Quill Book Award, and she is drafting a mystery as her third book.

In Bellingham, the eighth class of the Ethnobotany Immersion Program from Raven's Roots Naturalist School offers an in-depth weekend focused on the materials and techniques of basket making. Participants learn the process from start to finish and head home with a basket they created. Each weekend of the course is $300, covering about 15 hours of instruction, materials, and the camping fee. The program meets one weekend each month and blends classroom learning with field experiences.

This is not Riverdance-style performance, there are no high leaps, flying feet, or hard shoes, just approachable patterns and plenty of social fun. No partner is needed. Comfortable, loose clothing is recommended, and soft-soled, closed-toe shoes such as ballet or jazz shoes or sneakers work well. High heels, heavy boots, sandals, open-toed, or loose-fitting shoes are not recommended. If you know your right from your left and can move forward and back, you are ready to join the dancing.
