Valley Voices presents its fourth annual Classics+Rock concert at Ellensburg United Methodist Church, uniting a community choir with a full rock band for an evening of rich harmonies, popular tunes, and community spirit. Palouse to Cascades Marathon + Relay

Set against Kittitas County’s wide-open scenery and welcoming small communities, this course follows the Palouse to Cascades State Park Trail. Once the corridor of the Milwaukee Road railroad, it now leads runners through tunnels, over bridges, and across remote terrain. Teams of four, in male, female, or co-ed groupings, divide the distance into legs that emphasize endurance, teamwork, and adventure. A Washington State Discovery Pass is required. Coverage by the Financial Times on the rise of relay marathons notes how these events blend ultra-distance challenges, trail running, and time outdoors, and this race brings that mix to Washington. For safety, there is a strict no alcohol or drugs policy on the course, and any team that violates it will be disqualified. Hosted in Ellensburg, WA.

Kittitas County 4-H & Be Crash Free Dirt Bike Clinic

Kittitas County 4-H and Be Crash Free are partnering to offer a RideSafe dirt bike clinic designed for youth ages 8 to 18. This four-hour, hands-on session is led by certified Be Crash Free instructors and focuses on core riding skills, including getting familiar with controls, selecting and using protective gear, maintaining balance, starting and stopping, turning, and navigating simple obstacles. Instruction is age appropriate, organized in small groups, and takes place in a controlled environment with encouragement for new riders. The cost is $150 per participant. Riders must bring their own dirt bike, and those without a bike who wish to participate are encouraged to inquire about options. Required gear includes a helmet, over-the-ankle boots, long durable pants, a long-sleeve shirt or coat, gloves, and eye protection such as goggles or glasses. Registration is open, and this collaboration also supports exploration of a future Kittitas County 4-H dirt bike club.

Dachshunds & Friends on Parade

At Unity Park in Downtown Ellensburg, a beloved Kittitas County tradition puts dogs of every shape and size in the spotlight. What started as a dachshund-only gathering now welcomes all breeds, and the always-popular dachshund races remain a highlight. Families and their pups can explore dog-friendly vendors, enjoy entertainment, take part in a parade, and compete in playful challenges inspired by the American Rescue Dog Show. Parade participation is free, and contest entry fees range from $5 to $10. Expect costume and trick contests alongside categories that celebrate every dog’s charm and character, including Best Ears, Best Wiggle Butt, Best Talker, Best in Special Needs, Best Senior, and Best in Rescue, with Best Smile and Best Kisser newly added. The event embraces the idea that every dog has something special to share, including those with disabilities, and celebrates perseverance and living life to the fullest. 2026 Top Hand Competition

At the IUOE Local 302/612 Operating Engineers Training Center, the Top Hand Competition features professional union operators going head to head on a variety of heavy equipment and cranes. Spectators of all ages can watch the action and also get hands-on time with excavators, cranes, and simulators. A big kids area includes inflatables, sandboxes, toys, games, crafts, a hay hunt, pinatas, and more. Vendors will be serving lunch and snacks throughout the day. Competition runs all day, with Top Hand winners announced at the end and an introduction of the new 2026 entry level apprentices.

Guided History Walking Tours — Summer 2026

Explore historic downtown Ellensburg on a free guided walking tour led by local historian Mike McCloskey. Hear stories woven into storefronts and side streets, from early businesses and major fires to distinctive architecture and the people who shaped the valley. Each tour runs about 90 minutes and begins at the Kittitas County Historical Museum. Dress for the conditions and wear comfortable walking shoes. Tours are free, with donations appreciated. Pre-registration is encouraged, tours require at least four participants, and capacity is limited to twenty people. Walk-up spots may be available if space remains. Tours may be canceled due to weather, wildfire smoke, or guide illness. Private tours or additional dates can be arranged upon request.

Beading Beauties

Organized by the Kittitas County Historical Museum in partnership with the Ellensburg School District Ichiskíin Sɨ́nwit ku Tiináwit Payúutmita (ESD Ichiskíin Language and Native American Culture Program), this monthly beadwork circle offers a welcoming setting to create, learn, and connect. Attendees bring their own projects, exchange techniques, and build community around the craft. Beadwork traditions across the Columbia Plateau, including those of the Yakama, Umatilla, Klickitat, Nez Perce, K’tɨ́taas, and Pshwánapam peoples, are highlighted, with designs that convey stories, identity, and community continuing to inspire makers today. In historic downtown Cle Elum, Pioneer Days Weekend marks America’s 250th with a lively blend of community spirit, patriotic celebration, and family friendly activities. Highlights include Dock Diving Dogs presented by Mobile West, a Pioneer Day Parade, and an evening Firework Show Watch Party. A Pioneer Village organized by the Cle Elum Vol. FF’s Association is also planned, with more details to come. This celebration is funded by the Kittitas County Lodging Tax and the City of Cle Elum Lodging Tax, and is presented by the Cle Elum Downtown Association. The 42nd Runner Stumbles 5k walk and 5k/10k race

Beginning at Suncadia’s Nelson Dairy Farm, this 5K and 10K race, along with a separate 5K walk, travels along tree-lined trails beside the Cle Elum River. The route is fast and suits both newcomers and runners chasing a personal best. After the finish, participants can enjoy refreshments, an awards ceremony with trophies and ribbons, and a free kids race and raffle. It is welcoming to runners and their families. The name comes from Stanley Kramer’s final film, The Runner Stumbles, filmed in Roslyn and Cle Elum in the late 1970s and set in a rural Roman Catholic parish. A nun wearing tennis shoes has served as the mascot for over a decade. The day also includes a firefighter-hosted all-you-can-eat breakfast, live music and a farmers market in Roslyn’s historic downtown dating to 1886, 10-hole putt-putt golf at the Dru Bru brewery, and a doggie diving and swim competition. The event is organized entirely by volunteers, with all proceeds benefiting local youth.

The Stories We Share — A Community Fundraiser for the Museum

The Stories We Share is the Kittitas County Historical Society’s annual community fundraiser for the Museum, hosted at The Ridge Encore in historic Downtown Ellensburg. Animal Encounters presents a hands-on live bug experience at the Cle Elum Volunteer Fire Department. UKC Bocce Tournament

Celebrate a longstanding local tradition at the fourth annual bocce tournament in Upper County, presented in partnership with the Sons & Daughters of Italy in America (OSIDA) Cle Elum Lodge. Bocce came to Kittitas County with Italian immigrants more than 130 years ago, and this gathering keeps that heritage alive with a welcoming day of games at South Cle Elum's Firemen's Park. Experienced players and newcomers are invited to form two-person teams for friendly competition and plenty of laughs. There are activities for kids and fun for the whole family. Players 16 and under may participate when paired with a teammate over 16. Lunch is included for participants and available for purchase for spectators. Prizes will be awarded to the top three teams.

Equestrians Institute 2026 Dressage Championship

Equestrians Institute presents its first championship dressage show at Washington State Horse Park, offering a weekend of competition with special prizes, drawings, and more. Riders can qualify by earning scores at any USEF/USDF recognized dressage show while holding current Equestrians Institute membership at the time the scores are earned. The qualifying standards are designed to welcome competitors of all ages and levels and to highlight a wide variety of horse breeds.
