The Grant County Fair is hosting “Moments That Made US,” a special America 250 exhibition exploring how generations of Americans have given meaning to ideals from the Declaration of Independence. The exhibit looks across centuries with both challenging and celebratory historical moments, organized around five themes: Created Equal; Life, Liberty, and the Pursuit of Happiness; Free and Independent States; Consent of the Governed; and We Mutually Pledge. Full Moon Eclipse Women’s Retreat

A nature-based women’s retreat invites participants to remember innate wisdom, creativity, and instinct while gathering in a supportive, trauma informed circle. Set among the trees at Camp Ortoha at Lost Lake in the Okanogan Highlands, the experience centers on reconnecting body and soul through shared practices and time outdoors. The program includes storytelling and exploration of the Wild Woman archetype, soulful practices rooted in the natural world, daily yoga and meditation, sound healing and circle songs, creative expression through art and movement, and sacred ritual with talking circles. Expect nourishing meals that are mostly vegetarian with vegan and gluten free options, simple rustic lodging with a summer camp feel, campfires, and nearby trails that lead through wetland habitat and to a remarkable 900-year-old Western Larch. The retreat also honors the energy of a full moon lunar eclipse, with the possibility of a moonlit lake dip. At roughly 3,818 feet of elevation, the setting is often 10 to 15 degrees cooler than the valley, with warm days and cooler nights. A supply list is shared after registration so everyone can prepare for time at the forest lake. Pricing follows an equity-minded sliding scale from $725 to $1,300, with a $700 base price available for cash or check. A non-refundable $300 deposit can hold a place, with the remaining balance due by the stated deadline. Partial scholarships may be available. Cancellations prior to the deadline receive a refund minus the $300 deposit, cancellations after the deadline are not refundable, and a full refund is issued if the facilitators cancel. The retreat is led by Cassandra Schuler, Psychotherapist LMHC MA, and Laura Greenwood, Viniyoga E-RYT 500+. It is an inclusive community gathering where all women who feel called are welcome. The venue, Camp Ortoha, is operated by members of local parishes of the Lutheran Church, and the retreat itself has no affiliation with the Lutheran Church or any other religious organization.

Community Resource Fair - International Overdose Awareness Day

Grant County Health District hosts the fourth annual International Overdose Awareness Day gathering at McCosh Park in Moses Lake, a global day of remembrance that honors lives lost to overdose and supports people affected by substance use. The event focuses on raising awareness, reducing stigma, and strengthening prevention and recovery across the community. Overdose remains a growing public health concern, with 100 overdose-related deaths reported in Grant County between 2021 and 2023. Open to anyone seeking practical ways to help themselves, loved ones, or neighbors, the day features naloxone training, access to local support resources, and moments of reflection. A tribute of flags is planned, with purple recognizing lives saved with naloxone and white honoring those who were lost. In partnership with the Moses Lake Farmer’s Market, community organizations are invited to participate as resource providers to help connect people with care and information.

Autism Community Day

Set on the Grant County Courthouse lawn in Ephrata, this community celebration focuses on inclusion, connection, and family fun. Meet the Sheriff Posse and first responders, bounce in an all-day inflatable, sip from the coffee cart, and enjoy classics from Corn Dog Company. Try yard games, explore local resource booths, and get creative at the arts and crafts area with tie-dye shirts. Capture memories at a photo booth with printed strips by Fun Factory, and enjoy face painting and balloon art by Kimmy's Closet. The gathering concludes with a hike to the ribbon on Beezley Hill, bringing people together in a spirit of acceptance, community, and support for families in the autism community.

Celebrate National Bakery Day with giveaways, tastings, and activities for kids. Purchases of $10 or more qualify for prizes throughout the day. Science Saturday

Young scientists can roll up their sleeves in a hands-on class held in the Museum Classroom. Led by instructor Alyssa Derricott, participants ages 6 to 13 engage in activities and straightforward experiments that highlight how science relates to everyday life while fostering curiosity and critical thinking. All materials are included. The cost is $15 per session. Enrollment ranges from 6 to 12 students, and classes will be canceled two days in advance if the minimum is not met.

The Friday Film Series presents My Family (Mi Familia), a multigenerational portrait of the Sánchez family as they make a life in East Los Angeles. The story follows parents and children through love, setbacks, and victories, reflecting the immigrant experience, the ties that keep relatives connected, and traditions that carry forward from one generation to the next. Blending humor and heartfelt moments with standout performances, it celebrates culture, perseverance, and the idea that home lives within the people we care about. Before the screening, lowriders will be on view in the parking lot and a local taco truck will serve food. Presented at the Moses Lake Civic Center Auditorium, this event is sponsored by EDUBS C/S in collaboration with Columbia Basin Allied Arts and the Moses Lake Creative District. Tickets are $12.

A full slate of timed runs is planned, with the order as follows: CS, TMS, KR, TM3B, TF, F, B, KH, TB, F8, P, TP, RR, RL, CH. In case of rain, the event may be rescheduled. Rides cost $2 each, and jackpot classes are $5 with an 80 percent payback. There is a $5 arena fee per rider. This event uses a times only format.
