Clark College Sakura Festival

Celebrate spring and community at the annual Sakura Festival at Clark College. This free, public event honors a decades-long friendship that began when one hundred Shirofugen cherry trees were planted on campus as a symbol of connection between the region and Japan. Each year, the gathering takes place beneath the blossoms to recognize the sister-city relationship between Vancouver, Washington and Joyo, Japan. Presented by Clark College with the Vancouver Rotarians and the City of Vancouver, the program includes a ceremony in the Japanese Garden, followed by activities and displays in Gaiser Student Center with performances by Portland Shishimai Kai and Takohachi Q Ensemble. Festivities continue at Gray’s, where a JOYO Signature cocktail and appetizer are available, non-hosted.

Goddess Initiations - WATER

A ceremonial series honors the Seven Nustas, goddesses of the Andean traditions of Peru, sharing teachings on balance, healing, and harmony with the natural world. Each gathering focuses on one goddess and her wisdom, inviting reconnection with the heart, creativity, and the life-giving flow within. This session centers on Doña Mujia, also known as Doña Maria, the Water Goddess. Her teachings support emotional healing and release, helping to dissolve fear, insecurity, and heaviness while restoring trust, softness, and a deeper relationship with inner waters and intuition. The experience includes ceremony, a Nusta attunement from the Water Goddess, and continued creation of a personal Nusta Mesa, a small sacred bundle that grows with each goddess in the series. Participants hear her story and explore simple practices to bring her flowing, heart-centered energy into daily life. Attendance is flexible, and each initiation stands on its own so a single class is welcome without committing to the full journey. People of all genders and all levels of experience are invited to be in community for these rites. Hosted at Pacha Collective. Sliding scale pricing is $44 to $66 per class, and the full seven-part series is $375. The lower tier is intended for those who need financial support, and choosing a higher tier helps keep this work accessible to the community. If plans change, you may gift your spot to someone you know with notice so the welcome information can be shared. Due to limited space, spots are not transferred to future classes. In an emergency, the organizers will do their best to find a solution.

Soul Repair: A Spirit Guide Experience

Experience a three-hour, in-person healing gathering led by Daniel Monroe that centers on heart repair, nervous system regulation, and a grounded connection with Spirit Guides. Through teaching, breathwork, guided meditation, reflective journaling, and Spirit-guided connection practices, participants create an inner space where real repair can begin by first settling the body into safety. Explore how grief and emotional trauma can live in the body, why unprocessed pain may appear as anxiety, control, or emotional shutdown, and how gentle regulation opens the door to healing. Learn to quiet fear, overthinking, and outside expectations, then attune to the steady presence of your Spirit Guides and work with them as true partners in your healing. Daniel shares group messages channeled from Spirit Guides that can bring clarity, reassurance, and direction. This is a sincere, restorative space focused on meaningful repair rather than performance or quick fixes, where grief softens, the body settles, the heart is heard, and guidance grows clearer. Participants leave with practical tools to continue connecting with their guides, often feeling lighter, more regulated, and more empowered in their ability to heal. This experience is well suited for anyone carrying recent or long-held grief, those tired of always being the strong one, and anyone sensing deeper healing and seeking a real, embodied connection with Spirit Guides. No prior experience is required, only willingness. The session runs for three hours in person, seating is limited, and the cost is $99.

Healing Breathwork & Soundbath with Gisela Mondays

Guided by Gisela Birnschein, this breathwork and sound bath offers a space for deep somatic release, a calmer nervous system, and expanded awareness. The experience begins with gentle movement to relax the body and open energetic pathways. Participants then rest comfortably on their backs with supportive props while moving through four phases of breathwork that start with orientation, shift into release, open to receiving, and settle into a trance state. Sustained, intentional breathing can bring the body into a highly oxygenated, trance like state where the mind softens and the nervous system can open, allowing emotions, memories, and subconscious patterns to move through natural bodily release. A short sound bath closes the session, using vibration and frequency to soothe the system, deepen the healing process, and support balance. Reported benefits can include relief from stored stress and tension, reduced anxiety, support for trauma processing, clearer thinking and intuition, better sleep, greater emotional openness, a sense of peace and grounding, and a broader connection to self and spirit. Please bring a yoga mat or something comfortable to lie on, a blanket and pillow, water, and an optional journal. An open mind and willing heart are welcome. Pricing is $25 for a single session or $120 for a six session series.

General Thomas Anderson at Vancouver Barracks

At the Red Cross Building at the Historic Reserve, a featured talk focuses on Civil War veteran and Ohio native Thomas M. Anderson, who led the 14th Infantry at Vancouver Barracks from 1886 to 1898. As one of the post’s longest-tenured commanders, Anderson and his family were active in both Army life and the surrounding community. The presentation places his leadership within the wider story of Vancouver Barracks. The speaker is Jeff Davis, Major, U.S. Army, Ret., an archaeologist and Vancouver native whose military career took him around the world and back to Vancouver Barracks. He is a longtime member of the Vancouver Barracks Military Association, has written and contributed to numerous publications on military and Northwest history, and frequently shares his expertise as a speaker and tour guide. This program is offered free of charge, and seating is limited. It is part of The Historic Trust’s Speakers Series presented by University Village. A historic image connected to the topic shows the Anderson family and friends on the porch of the post commander’s 1878 home, later known as the Howard House after its first residents, Oliver Otis Howard and his family. Witch Balls

A hands-on workshop welcomes participants of all ages to craft a witch ball, a decorative talisman designed to hang in a window. Rooted in long-standing tradition, these ornaments have been associated with warding off evil spirits and offering protection from negative thoughts, ill fortune, and hexes. Legend holds that harmful energies are drawn to the beauty of the ball and become contained within it. During the class, you will select the herbs, flowers, and crystals that align with your intention, then finish your piece with charms and ribbons so it is ready to display.

Ascended Masters - Melchizedek & Quan Yin

Hosted by Tina Hewitt and Shaun Elligott, this collaborative presentation explores symbolism, compassion, and sacred lineage through the teachings associated with Melchizedek and Quan Yin. The session weaves lived spiritual experience with historical and symbolic perspectives to consider how these figures are understood across traditions often referred to as Ascended Masters. The Melchizedek portion looks at the enigmatic priest king who appears briefly in scripture yet carries far-reaching meaning in Jewish, Christian, and esoteric contexts. It considers Melchizedek as a sign of an ancient and enduring priesthood that invites reconciliation with nature, with Source, and with the divine whole. The Quan Yin portion turns to the widely honored embodiment of compassion, exploring her as a living symbol of mercy and responsiveness to suffering, along with her historical connection to the bodhisattva Avalokitesvara. Together, these explorations touch on what Ascended Masters are across different lineages, the place of Melchizedek in Western spiritual history, how Quan Yin expresses compassion, and how both figures can serve as mirrors for inner growth. The gathering offers space for curiosity, contemplation, and respectful dialogue, welcoming those who see these figures as literal beings, archetypes, or spiritual metaphors. Suggested contribution is $10, and no one will be turned away for lack of funds.

Peruvian Shamanic Foundations - The Art of Tracking Energy

Explore Peruvian shamanic foundations with a practical focus on tracking energy. This experiential class centers on sensing and interpreting energy within yourself, in the surrounding field, and with others by consent. Participants practice real-time tracking through intuitive awareness and shamanic tools while learning to gather clear information and trust their perceptions. Guided exercises include journey tracking for insight, working with a felt sense as a primary channel for information, partnered practice to track for oneself and another, and reading patterns, themes, and energetic threads. Instruction covers safety protocols and strong boundaries in sacred space, along with connecting with a personal tracking animal ally. The container emphasizes respect, right relationship, and ethics so skills develop with clarity and integrity. Over time, these practices can support shamanic healing, decision making, and deeper understanding of what lies beneath the surface. The class welcomes both newcomers and experienced practitioners, with no prior background required beyond a willingness to listen, feel, and explore. Investment is a sliding scale of $44 to $66. Those who are well resourced are encouraged to choose the higher tier to keep the work accessible, and the lower tier is intended for those who need financial support. Two places are reserved for Soul Ascension practitioners, with a private registration link available upon direct inquiry. If plans change, a reserved spot may be gifted to someone else with notice so that the welcome details can be forwarded, and due to limited capacity, registrations are not transferred to future offerings. Paws for the Planet: Earth Day

Celebrate Earth Day at Reflection Plaza with a free, family friendly event presented by the City of Washougal. Centered on the Paws for the Planet theme, the day blends environmental learning, community connection, and pet focused fun while encouraging simple everyday actions that help keep Washougal clean and welcoming for everyone. Activities include a pet parade and a costume contest judged by Carly Kennelly of FOX 12 Oregon, with recognition for Best in Show, Most Unique, and Spirit of Earth Day. Registration is required to participate. Only licensed, vaccinated dogs may take part. Leashes are required at all times, pets must remain under owner control, and courteous behavior is expected of all attendees. This event reflects Washougal’s ongoing commitment to environmental stewardship, community pride, and a healthier, more resilient city. Three nominated organizations are then drawn, and the members who put them forward each offer a brief, personal overview without brochures, slides, or outside speakers. Footloose

Main Stage presents Footloose at Magenta Theater, following Ren and his mother as they relocate from Chicago to a rural town where the local minister has outlawed dancing. At its core, the story contrasts a grieving father who longs for the son he lost with a young man who misses the father who left. Set to a Top 40 score that earned Oscar and Tony nominations and enhanced with new songs, the production explores the importance of hearing young voices while offering guidance with compassion. The Silken Thread: Five Insects & Their Impacts on Human History

At The Kiggins Theatre, Dr. Rob Wiedenmann examines the roles five insects have played in shaping human history. Drawing from his book coauthored with J. Ray Fisher, The Silken Thread: Five Insects and Their Impacts on Human History, he traces how silkworms supported millennia of silk production and a Silk Road that fostered empires and exchanges of ideas, philosophies, and religions. He explains how fleas and lice transmitted bacteria behind three major plague pandemics, with evidence preserved as DNA in victims’ teeth. He describes typhus spread by lice in crowded settings such as prisons and concentration camps, how it worsened the Irish potato famine, and how Irish refugees brought the disease to North America. He also explores mosquito-borne yellow fever, carried to the Americas through the trans-Atlantic slave trade, which provoked fear in the United States and created hazards during construction of the Panama Canal. A discounted book and ticket combination is available at checkout, offering 15 percent off both. Dr. Wiedenmann is Professor Emeritus of Entomology at the University of Arkansas, holds a B.S. in Ecology and Evolutionary Biology and a Ph.D. in Entomology from Purdue University, and is a past president of the Entomological Society of America.
