Rookies SportspubBottoms Up: A Toast to Wisconsin's Historic Bars and Breweries
At the Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum, Architectural Historian Jim Draeger offers a deep look at how Wisconsin’s beer and tavern traditions have shifted across generations. The presentation explores the effects of liquor regulation, brewing innovations, and temperance, along with the influence of the 19th and 21st amendments and a postwar, media-focused culture. It also highlights the look and atmosphere of Wisconsin taverns, the social life they foster, and the path brewing has taken from farmhouse production to factory scale to the modern craft movement. Draeger is an author who spent more than twenty years with the Wisconsin Historical Society, concluding his tenure as State Historic Preservation Officer. Attendance is free and everyone is welcome.
Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art MuseumFundraiser: Quilts Of Valor - Swissholio
Ryders Roadhouse and Grill hosts a doubles tournament benefiting Quilts of Valor. Entry is $50 per team, and each team is guaranteed seven games. Teams bring their own partner and bags, with loaners available if needed. At least one teammate should have the Scoreholio app. Competition starts with round robin matches that use cancellation scoring and a first to 21 points format, with pairings based on matching records. Results from those rounds determine seeding for a double elimination bracket. All skill levels are welcome. Carry ins are not permitted.
