Pop in for pony rides and stay for more fun at DENN. No reservation is required, just check in and pay when you arrive. Rides are $15 for five laps around the corral, and each horse is led by a trainer on a lead line. Riders must be older than 1 year, with a maximum weight of 80 pounds. Helmets are mandatory and sanitized helmets are provided. A participation agreement must be signed before riding, and a parent or guardian may assist their child during the ride. Photos are welcome. This is not a petting zoo, so only paying riders may interact with the ponies. Hours and availability can change without notice due to weather and live animals, thank you for understanding. Cash, credit, debit, and Venmo are accepted. Pony questions can be directed to Brooke at foxmeadowstables961@gmail.com. While you are there, enjoy free activities at DENN such as the playground, yard games, and a hammock swing set. Additional attractions on site include bounce houses available with an $8 wristband, an artisan market, a succulent bar, a hat lab, painting, and a patio bar. Young readers who enjoy a good mystery, the wonders of nature, and large earthmoving machines will be especially engaged. The meeting point is outside the Collins Learning Center. The program explores how chamber music found committed advocates in 19th century Paris despite the era’s overwhelming focus on opera, spotlighting Louise Farrenc, the first woman to hold a professorship at the Paris Conservatory, and Mélanie Bonis, who published under the name Mel to conceal her gender, alongside Camille Saint-Saëns. The music includes Bonis’s Suite en trio in E Minor, Op. 59 for flute, violin, and piano, Farrenc’s Trio in E Minor, Op. 45 for flute, cello, and piano, and Saint-Saëns’s Trio No. 2 in E Minor, Op. 92 for violin, cello, and piano. Presented in a home setting, this salon experience offers close-up listening, time beforehand for parking, gathering, and seating, and a reception afterward with opportunities to converse with the musicians. Titled Revolution and Independence, the program features violinist and composer George Meyer with the Griffon String Quartet, joined by flutist Heather Zinninger and a narrator. The evening begins with Mozart’s Flute Quartet in D Major, K. 285 for flute, violin, viola, and cello, continues with a newly commissioned piece by Meyer commemorating 1776 for solo violin, flute, and string quartet, and concludes with George Chadwick’s Quartet No. 4 in E Minor for string quartet. Created to help launch the nation’s Semiquincentennial observance, the new work reflects the era and its significance for American music. Salon performances provide a close-up, in-home listening experience, and a reception with conversation among the musicians follows the music. Seating is limited. Parking may be limited as well, and shuttle services, attendants, or signage may be available. Guests who need accessible parking are encouraged to notify staff in advance.

Explore the largest Belgian settlement in the United States on an hour long narrated bus tour led by Belgian Heritage Center historian Barb Englebert Chisholm. The route showcases chapels along the roadside, historic Belgian homes, summer kitchen outbuildings, local burial grounds, and the location of the first Kermiss, with stories that illuminate the lives and challenges of the early settlers. The experience also includes a guided visit around the Belgian Heritage Center grounds, featuring the St Roch votive chapel and the restored schoolhouse and convent. Tickets are $25 per person. The string-centered program with winds opens with Mozart’s Quartet in F major, K. 370 for oboe, violin, viola, and cello. It continues with Wranitzky’s Sextet in E-flat major for flute, oboe, violin, two violas, and cello; Wranitzky, a Moravian who came to Vienna and was born the same year as Mozart, enjoyed notable success as a composer and conductor and led the premiere of Beethoven’s First Symphony. The finale is Haydn’s Symphony No. 101 in D major, “The Clock,” one of the London symphonies, presented in a chamber arrangement by Salomon for flute, two violins, viola, and cello.
