Nature's Stories: An Accordion-Fold Collage Workshop

For ages 19 and up, this two-hour workshop is led by multimedia and teaching artist Hannah Rae. Participants learn to create an accordion-fold book, then build a personal narrative through collage while reflecting on how the natural world can offer guidance during times of growth and change. Inspiration might come from a seed becoming a tree, a child opening like a flower, or a river’s winding path that encourages acceptance. Hannah’s practice draws on mythology, nature, identity, and storytelling, and often gives found materials new life. Hannah lives in Eau Claire, Wisconsin.

The Department of Music and Theatre Arts at the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire features a performance in Phillips Recital Hall inside the Haas Fine Arts Center. There is no charge for entry. Mural Design Workshop

Artist Dave Loewenstein leads a hands-on design workshop centered on The More Than A Mural Project, part deux. Participants will collaborate to create a community mural that honors the past, reflects the present, and imagines the future of the park, neighborhood, and city. Pianist Josh Gallagher, drummer Shane Leonard, and bassist Jeremy Boettcher join forces with Minneapolis tap artist Ashley Gonzalez for a collaborative set that blends music and movement. A leading figure in the Twin Cities tap community, Gonzalez brings percussive rhythm, expressive motion, and spontaneous interplay, turning the stage into a real conversation between sound and dance. The Singing Statesmen

Presented by the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire Department of Music and Theatre Arts, this concert features The Singing Statesmen in Gantner Concert Hall at the Haas Fine Arts Center. Marking their 60th season, the university’s auditioned tenor-bass choir brings together students from many academic areas who share a dedication to choral artistry. Stephen Ackert

Stephen Ackert, a 1962 graduate of Chippewa Falls High School, returns to his roots for a recital that reflects a life in music. His studies as a Fulbright scholar in Germany and a doctorate from UW–Madison led to a global career as a performer, scholar, and cultural ambassador. He has appeared in venues from Tehran to the Kennedy Center and led the music department at the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. The program features Bach and Beethoven, including selections he first performed as a high school senior in 1962, along with piano works by his late wife, Golnoush Khaleghi, a Persian composer. Admission is free, with donations appreciated to help cover general operating costs.

The final program of the season presents Ralph Vaughan Williams' Oboe Concert with Steven Maijala as soloist and Charles Griffes' Poem with flutist Tim Lane. Hong-Da Chin performs on the dizi in an original work titled 'A Withering Sunflower with Uneven Legs.'

🌿Green Community: Working With Plant Spirit

April centers on the spirit of dandelion, a plant often overlooked yet a powerful ally for this season. Resilient and self-willed, it pushes through hard ground and demonstrates how to take up space without apology. After a month focused on rebuilding and nourishment with nettle, this gathering turns toward releasing what is no longer needed so fresh growth can take root. The session explores dandelion’s folklore, history, and teachings, covers its medicinal qualities and how it supports the body, includes a releasing ritual to clear stagnant energy, and offers guided meditation with sound to help integrate the work. Participants receive simple practices to continue walking with dandelion throughout the month. Green Community: Working With Plant Spirit creates a monthly space to meet a single plant through study, ritual, handcrafting, and sound, building a grounded and respectful relationship with the green world over the year. Open Mic Night at The Plus

The Plus hosts a free, all-ages open mic welcoming music, comedy, and spoken word. Performers sign up on a first-come, first-served list with eight slots for musicians and poets and sixteen for comedians. Musicians are allotted two songs, and poets or comedians receive five minutes on stage. If your act is something different, the host can help find a setup that works. The evening usually begins with music and poetry, followed by a short break, then a comedy block. This is a listening-focused room, so conversation is kept low in the main space, with the lounge or patio better suited for chatting. The venue provides three microphones with stands, music stands, stools, chairs, three 1/4-inch cables, XLRs, and a 1/8-inch input for tracks. Bring any additional gear you may need. Regulars include both established and emerging voices from the Chippewa Valley, creating a friendly place to meet people and discover new performances.

Confidence Class

A four-week, slow and steady class created for dogs of any age that need help building confidence in unfamiliar settings. Through quiet, carefully structured exercises, it focuses on developing bravery in new environments and around unfamiliar things. Participants and their dogs also explore the basics of fear and the neuroscience that can explain worry, with an emphasis on giving dogs choice and control so they can achieve small, encouraging successes. This class is suited to dogs that are shy, shut down, anxious, reluctant to engage in new places, or hesitant to explore novel environments, including those who feel uneasy around new situations, people, items, or other dogs. It is not intended for dogs that bark, lunge, or pull toward other dogs or things.

James and the Giant Peach

At the Riverside Theatre in the Haas Fine Arts Center, David Wood’s stage adaptation of Roald Dahl’s James and the Giant Peach unfolds under the direction of Jennifer Chapman. James shares his adventure alongside Miss Spider, Old-Green-Grasshopper, Centipede, Ladybird, and Earthworm, telling the story in their own voices. The production begins after their journey, with the friends now settled inside the giant peach stone in Central Park, where a tour guide leads visitors to the attraction and sets the stage for James to explain how they arrived in New York. The insect ensemble steps into other characters too, including Aunt Sponge and Aunt Spiker, while the voyage across the Atlantic is brought to life with a mix of live action, puppetry, and storytelling.

The World Premiere of "Kings of Kubb"

The world premiere of Kings of Kubb takes place at Pablo Center at the Confluence. The film spotlights kubb, a Nordic lawn game that is neither bowling nor bags and is much more than simply tossing sticks at blocks. It follows four elite competitors striving for the U.S. National Kubb Championship in the Kubb Capital of North America, Eau Claire, Wisconsin. As the action on the pitch intensifies, pressures off it bring forward a story about legacy, rivalry, friendship, and ambition. Following the screening, there will be a Q&A with the film's stars.

Luke Null

See Luke Null, who began performing comedy the moment he picked up a guitar in Chicago. During his time in the Windy City, he developed his musical comedy style, blending humor with catchy songs. He was a cast member on Saturday Night Live and is now a regular at the Hollywood Improv. He performs stand-up comedy at clubs and colleges across the country. In 2024, Luke released a live stand-up special entitled "Pretty Songs, Dirty Words" through 800 Pound Gorilla Records, now available on YouTube.

Spring Ephemerals and Migrating Birds Tour 2026

Embark on a trolley tour to explore the Chippewa Valley as it transforms in the spring. Visit the Jim Falls Wildflower Walking Trail, the Irvine Park Native Wildflower Sanctuary, and Kemper Woods in Lake Hallie. Learn how to spot migrating birds, discover where ephemerals hide, attract more birds to your own yard, and protect the birds passing through the community. Binoculars are recommended. Depending on the weather, the trolley may be enclosed or open-air. Expect some walking in flat fields during this approximately 3-hour tour.

Students in grades 6 through 12 from Eau Claire County are welcome at an interfaith wellness hangout at Trinity Lutheran Church. Matthew R. Sayles

Matthew R. Sayles brings a night of original roots music back to 2 Roots gallery in downtown Eau Claire. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, he launched the independent label Philville Records in 2000 in Marquette, Michigan, and has toured in the United States and abroad. He has shared stages with artists including Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, Asleep at the Wheel, Larry Sparks, Doyle Lawson, the Duhks, Uncle Earl, Hot Club of Cowtown, and members of Bob Dylan's Rolling Thunder Review. His solo sets move from brisk Telecaster-driven country, early rock and roll, roadhouse blues, Americana ballads, and bluegrass to North African influenced banjo instrumentals and South American flavors on the Andean ten-stringed Charango. As a songwriter and storyteller with a deep interest in American roots history, he shapes performances that echo 1950s and 60s coffeehouse vibes, while remaining grounded in the energy of beer halls, honky-tonks, and night clubs. Philville Records operated in Ventura, California from 2009 to 2019 and is now based in Eau Claire. Beyond his solo work, Sayles writes, records, and performs with the Driftless Revelers, the Ventura based Ventucky String Band, and the California alt country project the Detroit Sportsmen's Congress, and he contributes session work to alt country and roots projects in Eau Claire, Duluth, Marquette, Los Angeles, Ventura, Portland, and Santa Barbara.

The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe

The ILHS Theatre Department presents its spring production of The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe. Directed by Ellie Daub and Grant Bernthal, the story follows the Pevensie siblings as they step into Narnia, where the great lion Aslan guides them in a struggle against dark forces. Peter shows courage and strength, Susan brings wisdom and care, Lucy is trusting and kind, and Edmund has important lessons to learn. The performance is free, and a donation box will be available for freewill contributions.

Luke Callen - EC Album Release w/ Voulouse

LEONA’s PIZZA hosts a release show for Luke Callen’s new album, Fool’s Spring, with a performance by Voulouse. Much of the record was captured live to a Tascam 424 MK II over four days in a lakeside cabin on Lake Kekegama in northern Wisconsin, while the track Mississippi River was recorded with a single microphone in a room in Eau Claire. Mini Sidewalk Sale

The Friends are holding a mini sidewalk sale in the Dabble Box Courtyard on Level 0 of L.E. Phillips Memorial Public Library. A spirited Derby-themed fundraiser brings races, music, and community energy to the Eau Claire Event District’s High Country building, all in support of Home4Healing’s work providing month-to-month housing for blood cancer patients and their caregivers during treatment at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minnesota. Expect playful human-powered horse races and a live stream of the Kentucky Derby, plus dinner, dessert, and dancing, with beverages available for purchase. The evening also features games, raffles, a derby hat contest, and live music from Uncommon Denominator. At least one teammate in this division should have skills like muscle-ups on rings or bar, handstand push-ups, double unders, pistols, and rope climbs. Intermediate pairs focus on snatches at 115/75 for reps and clean and jerks at 135/95 for reps, with movement standards that include pull-ups, toes-to-bar, handstand push-ups to one AbMat, wall walks, double unders, and rope climbs. Scaled teams should be proficient with snatches at 95/65 and clean and jerks at 95/65, and be ready for 20/14 wall balls, ring rows, box jumps or step-ups to a 24 or 20 inch box, single unders, and rope lower or raise. Indianhead H.O.G. Community - Highway Cleanup

Shady characters scheme, the story twists, and the audience can play along by trying to spot the informant before the gangsters catch on. This brand new musical is written and directed by Jim and Jane Jeffries, brought to life by local performers, with a live jazz band led by Jerry Way. He shares a vivid backstory, saying he was born in rural Georgia in 1879, learned guitar from Blind Lemon Jefferson, ran away at 12 to join the circus, and later performed as a banjo player, vocal contortionist, and comedian with a traveling medicine show. His narrative continues in New Orleans alongside Jelly Roll Morton, where he first tried his hand at songwriting and says some of his tunes were taken by Buddy Bolden, then moves to New York and the bustle of Tin Pan Alley, where he recounts penning songs for Al Jolson, Rudy Vallee, and a young Bing Crosby. He recalls cutting early records for Okeh in Asheville in 1925 and influencing Jimmie Rodgers and Emmett Miller, riding the rails through the 1930s, and later brushing the folk revival that reached Dave Van Ronk and Bob Dylan. A campus-wide career readiness day at Altoona High School seeks volunteers to support students preparing for life after graduation. Voila Czech Youth Choir

Viola, a choir of 24 young singers from the Czech Republic, opens its United States tour at the Heyde Center for the Arts with a program that spans traditional and contemporary music. The ensemble shares a vibrant mix of folk, spirituals, classical repertoire, early music, and modern choral pieces, drawing on Czech roots as well as wider European traditions. These young voices have performed for audiences across Germany, France, England, Poland, Italy, the United States, and throughout their home country. Based at the Primary School of Žamberk in eastern Czech Republic, the choir is led by choirmaster Jaromir Zejdlik. The group appears regularly around the Pardubice region and has earned recognition in multiple competitions. Most singers are between 7 and 12, with alumni returning to mentor and take part. The connection between Žamberk and Rice Lake, Wisconsin reflects a long history of educational and cultural exchange, and volunteers from the Rice Lake International Friendship Association are coordinating this tour. This visit marks the choir’s second time performing in the United States, following earlier concerts in Pennsylvania and New York, after a more recent Wisconsin tour plan was canceled due to the pandemic. While in the area, students and chaperones will stay with host families and share music in schools, churches, and community settings, including appearances at the Ceska Opera House in Haugen, the Rice Lake Rotary Club, and in the Twin Cities. Contributions offered at the performance will help cover expenses for the Heyde Center and the tour.

Known for a candid and encouraging approach to caregiving when life feels overwhelming, Amanda is the author of “How to Handle More Than You Can Handle,” runs a Chicago therapy practice serving families with disabilities, and is the mother of a child with disabilities. Created for caregivers who feel stretched thin or unseen, this workshop offers a supportive setting to be recognized, connect with others who truly understand, and leave with practical strategies and renewed encouragement. Lunch is included, and the cost is $20.

Allatoona Creek Park hosts a weekend of mountain bike skills clinics with Ninja Mountain Bike Performance in Atlanta. 2026 Eau Claire Rod & Gun ATAs

Eau Claire Rod & Gun hosts an ATA trapshooting event for the 2026 season, conducted under ATA rules with all classifications handled by the Handicap Committee. Registration opens 30 minutes before the first event. Entries are accepted only with a completed entry card that shows class and yardage, and no changes are allowed once competition begins. Winchester solid orange targets will be used. Shooters with fewer than 500 targets in each discipline will be placed in Class B for Singles and Doubles, and adult males will shoot Handicap from the 20 yard line. Category shooters may compete in shoot offs for any place, then default to a single category, with a limit of one award per event. Shoot off formats are 25 target rounds for Singles and Handicap, 10 pairs for Doubles, and High Over All decided by 10 targets from each discipline. Zone Singles and Doubles ties from Saturday are settled after Saturday’s program, while other ties are determined by sub event scores from the following day. Class ties and winners on Saturday move up one class for Sunday’s events. ATA and WTA fees apply only once per day on the first event entered and are marked with an asterisk. Junior shooters may shoot the full program for $16 per 100 targets. A practice trap is available at $6 per round of 25. Payouts for Saturday’s events are paid in cash on Sunday, and payouts for Sunday’s events are mailed. Lunch, shells, and camping space are available on the grounds. Shoot management may re squad as needed to keep the event running smoothly, may alter, postpone, or extend the program in case of weather or other conditions, and may reject any entrant who disrupts the harmony of the shoot.

9th Annual Kickin' it in the Park

A family-friendly one-mile walk brings people together to raise awareness for neurofibromatosis at the Main Pavilion in Irvine Park. The route is designed so most ages and abilities can take part, and relaxing on the sidelines to enjoy the company is welcome too. After the walk, lunch is included with registration, followed by prizes that are not part of the registration fee. Individuals and teams participate, and costumes are welcome. The focus is on having fun while highlighting a condition that affects one in every 3,000 births and is often unfamiliar to many. Registration includes a walk T-shirt, snacks, lunch, and a beverage. Top fundraisers receive prizes. Fees are as follows: adults $25 in advance, increasing to $30 the week of; kids ages 3 to 12 $12 in advance, increasing to $15 the week of; ages 0 to 3 may attend the walk and lunch at no cost, and a walk shirt is not included.

Confirmed sellers will receive additional details after signing up. This is a garage sale style setup. Youth League Orientation/Signup/Meeting

An orientation and signup meeting introduces a free eight week trap shooting program for participants under 18. Each week includes one round of trap, one box of shells, access to youth and adult model shotguns, and coaching at no cost. Orientation is required to enroll. Participants who do not complete orientation will not be accepted, and walk ins are not permitted after the program begins since it is a structured league. Coaches ensure that participants can safely operate firearms to maintain a safe environment. To help fund the program, ECR&G collects spent shotgun hulls from shoots, sorts them by brand, and sells them. Families and youth are asked to assist with sorting during league nights when they can. All work is done by volunteers, and 100 percent of hull sales go directly to the youth program. The program is part of the Eau Claire Rod and Gun Foundation, a 501c3, and donations are tax deductible. Questions can be directed to the organizers through the event page.

UMPL Alpha

A competitive 5-on-5 paintball tournament for D4 and D5 teams with one D3 drop-in spot. Games run in a Race-to-2 format under NXL modified rules with 10.5 ramp. Entry is capped at 16 teams, and rosters are limited to seven players. Team registration is $300, and FPO is $55 per case. Prizes for first, second, and third place include an event-specific challenge coin for each player, a team trophy, and cash. A captain meeting and the opening game are scheduled. Matthew R. Sayles brings a handpicked group of fellow musicians to The Lakely in Eau Claire for an evening centered on roots music. A singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, Sayles founded the independent label Philville Records in 2000 in Marquette, Michigan. He has toured widely and has shared stages with Merle Haggard, Dwight Yoakam, Asleep at the Wheel, Larry Sparks, Doyle Lawson, the Duhks, Uncle Earl, Hot Club of Cowtown, and musicians connected to Bob Dylan’s Rolling Thunder Revue, along with many other regional and national roots artists. His solo sets move from twangy, Telecaster-driven country and early rock and roll to roadhouse blues, Americana ballads, and bluegrass, then branch into instrumentals influenced by North African traditions on five-string banjo and South American colors on the Andean ten-stringed charango. Praised for smart songwriting and inventive reworkings of classics, he blends timeless storytelling with a relaxed modern sensibility. On stage he channels the spirit of mid-century coffeehouse shows while keeping a strong link to the energy of beer halls, honky-tonks, and clubs. Philville Records operated in Ventura, California from 2009 to 2019 and is now based in Eau Claire. Sayles continues to write, record, and produce, and performs with the Driftless Revelers, the Ventura-based Ventucky String Band, and his California alt country project, the Detroit Sportsmen’s Congress. He also performs solo and contributes to alt country and roots projects in Eau Claire, Duluth, Marquette, Los Angeles, Ventura, Portland, and Santa Barbara.

ASFV 21st Annual Golf Outing

Crystal Springs Golf Course hosts the 21st annual golf outing supporting the Autism Society of the Fox Valley. Registration includes 18 holes with a cart, lunch, two drinks and dinner. On-course fun features a betting challenge and a hole-in-one chance, plus the possibility of a prize from Ken's Motor Sports. The flow of the day includes check-in, a shotgun start, lunch brought to your cart, time to mingle with a 50/50, followed by awards and a dinner buffet. All proceeds benefit the Autism Society of the Fox Valley and its work with families touched by autism across Calumet, Fond du Lac, Outagamie, Waupaca and Winnebago counties. The organization offers monthly parent support groups, social activities for a range of ages and families, and autism education for community organizations and businesses. In 2025 its all-volunteer board hosted outings that drew more than 4,500 participants.

A fundraising golf tournament benefiting the Seymour Quarterback and Thunder Football Booster Club takes place at Crystal Springs Golf Course. Proceeds support efforts to enrich the lives of youth through football and to advance Seymour Thunder Football and the Seymour School District. On-course extras include silent basket auctions, longest drive contests for men, women, and seniors, longest putt, closest to the pin, and a closest to Thor challenge, along with opportunities to purchase team mulligans and team ball drop lines. Awards based on a 36-team field include $500 for first place, $250 for second, $100 for third, and $75 for fourth and fifth, with ties decided first by handicap on holes selected by the course superintendent, then by a coin flip if needed. Registrations are non-refundable, and if weather cancels the golf portion, participants receive an 18-hole gift certificate from Crystal Springs Golf Course that will be distributed on event day to those present.

A member-powered Harley Owners Group rally returns to the Chippewa Valley, celebrating standout rides and the camaraderie at the heart of H.O.G. Hosted by Indianhead HOG and Chippewa Falls Harley-Davidson, the gathering centers at the Northern Wisconsin State Fairgrounds, a home base for exploring some of the Midwest’s most scenic routes. Fight against Addictions, Fundraiser Ride & memorial Ride, Prayer service and Memorial

Gather for a community fundraiser and memorial ride that brings people together to confront addictions and honor those lost. The event begins with time to connect at a place with pool tables and dart boards, with opportunities to donate to the cause. Participants will then proceed in single file to pay respects to loved ones who have lost their lives to addictions. Cars and motorcycles are welcome, with contributions of $10 per car and $5 per bike. The route moves along Water Street, continues to Chippewa Falls, and concludes near Irvine Park for a prayer service and memorial. The focus is unity in addressing addictions and the growing number of overdose deaths, with a shared commitment to take action.

Summer Drama Camp - The Lion King

Young performers can build acting and stage skills through a summer drama camp presented by the Heyde Center for the Arts featuring a youth production of Disney’s The Lion King kids. About thirty students ages 10 to 17 will rehearse over two weeks, then share the show in a culminating performance. The program welcomes first-time actors as well as those with prior experience. Tuition is $50 per student, due in full at registration, and includes two tickets to the performance. Participants are expected to attend the entire camp to support the ensemble and ensure a positive production experience. A tuition refund, minus a $20 nonrefundable administrative fee, is available if the participant withdraws by the stated deadline, and a full refund will be issued if the program is cancelled due to insufficient enrollment. Summer Solstice Rally - 2026

Based at Chippewa Falls Harley-Davidson, this motorcycle rally celebrates riding through Wisconsin's northern Driftless Region, a timeless landscape untouched by the flattening glaciers of the last Ice Age. Tickets are limited to 160 and secure access to curated Rever and H-D Ride Planner files for multiple self-guided routes in the region, admission to a private Solstice Eve celebration with a catered dinner, and an exclusive event T-shirt when selecting the dinner, routes, and T-shirt option. All motorcycle brands and riding styles are welcome, including adventure, cruisers, dual-sport, sport, and touring. After purchase, participants receive links to several route options so they can plan ahead or simply ride and explore. Riders spend the days on the road, then gather for the Solstice Eve celebration where onsite check-in is available. T-shirts are distributed during the evening celebration only. At the celebration, participants can pick up shirts, enjoy dinner, relax by the fire, and swap stories. This is a rain or shine event. It is not a guided ride, so riders are encouraged to learn the area beforehand and have a basic sense of the terrain. Rever and H-D Ride Planner routes can be used anytime by loading them into a phone or GPS, and users will need to create their own accounts. Downloading offline maps is recommended because some areas have limited cell service. Every person who wants dinner and a T-shirt must have their own paid ticket. The catered menu features pulled pork, charcoal chicken, baked beans, potato salad, and dessert, with refreshments provided. There is plenty of parking for bikes and trailers at the evening location. Lodging and camping are not provided, so attendees should arrange their own accommodations nearby, with many options within 15 to 20 minutes of Chippewa and Eau Claire. Booking early is recommended because weekends in the area often sell out. Photos and video will be taken and may be used for future Driftless Motorcycle Riders promotion, and attendance constitutes consent.

A live set from Wisconsin musician Dave BeBeau brings seasoned musicianship to River Jams. Raised in Ashland and self-taught on guitar since 1987, he has been performing since childhood. His rock career accelerated in 2003 when he co-founded Contradiction, a band that has taken the stage across the Midwest at the Northern Wisconsin State Fair, Rock Fest, and the North Woods Rock Rally. Outside the band, he switches to an acoustic approach with classics by James Taylor, Tom Petty, Neil Young, Charlie Daniels, America, John Cougar, and Bon Jovi, with a song list that continues to evolve and include a few surprises.

Chapter 45-2 Meat Raffle

Adults Only Skate Night - The 2nd Saturday of Each Month

Spend the evening skating in an adults-only setting designed for guests ages 18 and up. Admission is $7 per person and skate rentals are included if needed. Examples include Neon is Nice, where the first 50 guests receive glowsticks and a portion of ticket and concession sales supports PBS Wisconsin. Early entry is not offered and no one may stay beyond the ticketed end, and everyone must pay to enter the building. The venue uses theatrical lighting and haze, including intense lights and strobe effects on the rink and in the arcade, so guests with light sensitivities or epilepsy should use caution and enter at their own risk. 14th Annual CVMA Freedom Fest

The Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association Chapter 45-2 presents its fourteenth annual Freedom Fest at Chippewa Falls Harley-Davidson, featuring a pancake breakfast and registration, motorcycle and cash drawings, and a group ride departing from the dealership. The event includes the 2026 Motorcycle Raffle with $50 tickets limited to 1,000. The grand prize is a 2026 Harley-Davidson Street Glide, and for Wisconsin residents the tax, title, and plate fees are covered. Additional prizes include $1,500 for second place, $1,000 for third, $500 for fourth, and $100 for fifth through tenth, giving each ticket a 1 in 100 chance to win. Tickets are available from Chapter 45-2 members or online. The raffle drawing takes place during Freedom Fest at Chippewa Falls Harley-Davidson, and winners do not need to be present to claim a prize. Proceeds support CVMA WI 45-2 and benefit local veterans charities.
