Gnome Games Appleton North Weekly Yu-Gi-Oh! Genesys Tournament

A weekly Yu-Gi-Oh! Genesys tournament takes place at Gnome Games Appleton North, offering a streamlined format built around classic play and a points-based deck construction system. Entry is $5. Players receive a Tournament Pack for each match win, and anyone without a win still gets a participation pack. A Konami ID is required for in-store registration. In the Genesys format, Link and Pendulum Monsters are not allowed, and duels use the original field layout with no Extra Monster Zones or Pendulum Zones. The standard Forbidden and Limited list is not enforced, so those cards are legal except for Link and Pendulum cards, and the usual limit of up to three copies of any card still applies. Decks use a point cap, with most cards costing zero and select cards assigned values, and the combined total across Main, Extra, and Side Decks must stay within the event’s 100-point limit. Konami provides an online tool to help with deck building and point tracking, and additional format details are available through official resources.

Hearthstone Historic House Museum

Hearthstone Spark Your Imagination Summer Camps

Hands-on activities in an exciting, stimulating setting set the tone for Spark Your Imagination Summer Camp sessions at Hearthstone Historic House Museum. Designed for children entering grades 4 through 7, these day camps use the museum’s rich resources to explore historic inventors and innovations connected to Hearthstone and the Fox Valley. After discovering Appleton’s innovative past, campers dive into the invention process through engaging lessons, interactive projects, and experiments. Each child identifies a problem to solve, then creates and takes home an original invention crafted independently. The program is offered in three sessions, and each session features the same curriculum and activities. Enrollment is limited to 10 students per session, and spots often fill quickly, so early registration is encouraged. Camps are led by Hearthstone’s Museum Educator, Autumn McCarty. A field trip to nearby Vulcan Heritage Park is included. Participants should bring their own morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. Tuition covers all materials and is available at an early rate of $100 per student, followed by $125 per student thereafter.

A midweek reset in Appleton blends a walk with a roving dance party, moving through downtown with a rolling speaker and lively music. The vibe is relaxed and welcoming, centered on getting outside, moving however feels good, and shaking off stress. It is part workout, part mood lift, part confidence boost, and a friendly reminder not to take life too seriously. Any pace fits, from a casual stroll to all-out dancing. New this year, the Appleton edition happens on the first Wednesday of each month and is open to everyone with a come as you are spirit.

Ants Marching brings a faithful tribute to the music of Dave Matthews to Shattuck Park as part of the Future Neenah Evening Concert Series presented by Richard and Amy Jo Aylward. This free outdoor performance is made possible by Alta Resources. Expect skilled, detail-rich takes on favorite songs from the Dave Matthews catalog from this talented group. Per City of Neenah ordinance, alcohol is not permitted in the park. Food and beverages will be available for purchase from Kickin' Ash BBQ, The Wandering Table, Grazing a Go Go, and Crazy Sweet. Bring a lawn chair or blanket for comfortable seating. Free parking is available on Wisconsin Ave, in tower lots, or in a city surface lot. If weather does not cooperate, the concert will move indoors to the DoubleTree Neenah Hotel. Wednesday Night Road Rides

These weekly road rides roll out from The Recyclist and welcome cyclists who want to push their pace, build community, and enjoy steady miles. Two pace groups make it easy to choose the effort that fits. Group A aims for an average of about 19 mph or higher over 30 to 40 miles and is intended for experienced riders who follow the ride leaders pace. Group B is a no-drop option averaging around 16 mph over 20 to 30 miles, offering a supportive setting for newer group riders or anyone easing into the season. Mileage may vary with available daylight. Helmets are required, rear lights are strongly encouraged, earbuds are not permitted, and riders are expected to listen to leaders and stick to the advertised pace. Parking is requested on the road, in the office lot next door, or in the far spaces by the mailbox.

Musical Movers Storytime

Team up for a Magic: The Gathering prerelease set in the world of The Hobbit, where famous pairings like Gandalf with Bilbo or Fíli with Kíli inspire a cooperative Two-Headed Giant event. Entry is $90 per team. The set returns to Middle‑earth with a wide range of familiar characters and creatures, evoking travels with dwarves, run‑ins with trolls, clever encounters with elves, and songs along the way. Two-Headed Giant is played by teams of two who share a starting life total of 30 and take their turns at the same time. Life is the only shared resource. When a card says “you,” it applies only to the player who controls that card. Effects that say “each opponent” or “each player” apply to both members of the opposing team or to all players individually. Players can block creatures attacking themselves, their teammate, or any planeswalkers their team controls. Each participant receives a Prerelease kit and builds a deck of at least 40 cards, with basic lands provided. Teammates combine their opened cards to build together, then compete in a three‑round, best‑of‑three tournament. Each match win earns a The Hobbit booster pack for both players on the winning team. Food trucks are a centerpiece, with Legendairy Cookies N' Creamery, Luigi's Pizza & Pasta, 4 Schmidts & Giggles BBQ, and On The Fritz Concessions serving throughout the event. Glass Studio Class: Garden Yard Art 8/11

Create a colorful accent for a planter, garden bed, or yard by designing a glass piece that will be kiln fused for a polished finish. After firing, a metal rod is added so the artwork can be displayed in a pot or staked outdoors. Please allow up to 3.5 weeks for the firing process, and look for an email when your project is ready for pickup. The finished piece includes a 4 by 11 inch glass panel and an 18 inch metal rod. The session also briefly considers the movement from South Node to North Node as a long-range backdrop that echoes the shift from hands-on learning into maturity and purpose. Expect guidance on identifying when you are in a messy, experimental chapter, recognizing the transition into observation and integration, and meeting each stage with more kindness and less judgment. Conversation connects these arcs to relationships, work, identity, and purpose, and clarifies how the South Node to North Node journey parallels the move from experimentation into integration. This workshop is for anyone seeking a clearer, kinder understanding of personal growth, especially those who learn by doing and tend to be self-critical. Dylan Freimuth Memorial Ride

This memorial motorcycle ride honors Dylan Freimuth on the one year mark of his passing. Riders will gather at Harbor Freight Tools (APPLETON, WI #00156) before heading north to Freedom, then looping back through Mackville. The route avoids highways and mostly follows 55 mph zones, so small bikes like Groms may find the pace challenging. Those coming from GB can choose to break off at Freedom after the group passes by his family. The organizer is seeking a small handful of riders who know the route to help lead and keep the group together in case of red lights, and may arrange a police escort out of town if attendance surpasses 50 bikes. Everyone is welcome, whether or not they knew Dylan, with the aim of showing his family the strength of the riding community.

Boogie Back to School Concert feat. Boogie and the Yo-yoz

Celebrate the close of summer with a free, high-energy street concert headlined by Midwest favorites Boogie and the Yo-yoz. The 100 block of W. Wisconsin Avenue transforms into an open-air dance floor, with the stage set near Associated Bank. Bring a lawn chair if you would like a comfortable seat while you take in the music. Families will find plenty to do, with games and activities presented in collaboration with the Neenah Joint School District and NHS student groups, plus a downtown carousel sponsored by Urban Market and Van Sistine Homes. Local restaurants will be serving food and drinks before and during the show, and food trucks will be parked on site so you can enjoy a meal right in the street. Beverages purchased from downtown establishments may be carried within the DORA district when poured into an approved plastic cup or can. No alcohol carry-ins are permitted. Free parking is available at the Church Street Ramp via Commercial Street, the Church and Doty surface lot, and along E. Wisconsin Avenue. A soothing group session at Fox Cities Wellness Center blends a full sound bath with Reiki. Settle in comfortably and be guided with gentle meditation and breathwork into deep relaxation while resonant tones from singing bowls wash over you. The vibrations are used to help ease stress and support the body and mind in returning to a more harmonious rhythm. A Reiki practitioner moves through the room to offer individual attention, placing hands where needed to encourage relaxation and support the flow of life energy. This approach comes from the lineage of Mikao Usui and focuses on reducing stress and promoting whole-body calm. Wear comfortable clothing and consider bringing a blanket. Elementary Explorers is a hands-on STEAM club where kids can dive into science, technology, engineering, art, and math through interactive projects. Super Stock division drivers from the Fox River Racing Club will head into the grandstands after their feature, next to the souvenir stand. Fundraiser for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention (AFSP)

Jeni from Woven Blessings Basketry is partnering with Bob Glasheen for a hands-on weaving workshop that supports the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention through the Fox Valley Walk. Participants will create a woven tissue box cover, and all tools, materials, and instruction are provided. The fee is $45, paid directly to Bob so it counts toward his $2,500 fundraising goal. Capacity is limited to 26 people. The class will take place in Bob’s garage and driveway, and attendees are welcome to bring a snack or beverage to enjoy while they work.
