📰 In the news
Family fun across Sheboygan County: Winter doldrums ease with VR gaming, museums, skiing, and shows at the Weill Center. A local museum reopened Feb. 2 with a 250th anniversary exhibit, plus Free Days of Play — explore activities and events.
Support youth mentoring locally: Big Brothers Big Sisters’ 43rd Bowl for Kids’ Sake ran Feb. 6-7 in Sheboygan Falls and will conclude Feb. 27 at Meadow Lanes North, Manitowoc, featuring “Game On” theme — see how to participate.
US News honors Sheboygan: Sheboygan was ranked 7th best place to live in Wisconsin earlier this month, with low housing costs, low unemployment, and easy commutes earning praise for the city’s quality of life — read the full story.
Materials company earns top status: SACO AEI Polymers, part of Sheboygan-based AESSE Investments Ltd., was awarded a platinum EcoVadis rating for sustainability, recognizing leadership in environment, labor and human rights, ethics, and sustainable procurement — read the full story.
Gold & silver are hot: Coming off gold’s best year since 1979, the momentum is carrying well into 2026 with silver remaining one of the most talked-about assets. Curious why precious metals are back in focus? American Hartford Gold has a free guide that explains what’s happening and how people are approaching it today. It’s free – and definitely worth a read.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Nothing prepares you for a pet emergency: I learned that the hard way after charging $10k to a credit card for life-saving surgery on my cat, Miss Stache. As soon as we got home, I signed up for Spot. It’s super affordable – and reimburses up to 90% of the bill.

Highlights this week:

🫶 We got your back
Aid for aspiring students: United One Credit Union is offering three $1,000 scholarships for locals. One will go to a Sheboygan County high school student, one to a Manitowoc County high school student, and one to an area college or returning adult student. Applications are due March 31 at 5 p.m. Get eligibility and deadline details.
Local squads’ road ahead: WIAA girls basketball brackets are out. First-round games begin today, February 24, with more on February 27. Sheboygan North opens February 27. Manitowoc Lincoln is the 11 seed vs Divine Savior Holy Angels that day. Two Rivers opens at Wrightstown. Manitowoc Lutheran awaits the Southern Door or Mishicot winner. See dates, seeds and opponents.
Downtown sugar therapy: The Victorian Chocolate Shoppe stocks hand-dipped truffles, chocolate-dipped raspberries, and a wall of nostalgic sweets that turns “one more piece” into an inevitability. A cozy, hometown treat run that can flip an ordinary Tuesday into a small celebration.
Time for a closet reset: Closet feeling stale? Nikki’s Nex2New keeps gently loved fashion moving, from everyday staples to standout dresses and on-trend accessories. You can drop off pieces you’re done with, pick up what you’ll actually wear, and enjoy a guilt-free refresh while keeping great finds local.
What do people see when they search your name? Search results can surface past mistakes or outdated information that no longer reflects who you are. BetterReputation helps remove and clean up unwanted content so your online presence matches your real life today. Not worried about yourself? Doesn’t hurt to mention it to family or friends who might be.
Take control of your credit card debt: High interest can keep you stuck paying more than you need to. A balance transfer card with 0% intro APR until 2027 and no annual fee gives you time to pay down what you owe without interest working against you. By transferring your balance, more of your payment goes toward the principal so you can actually make a dent in what you owe.
