Emerson LanesYoga with Tai Chi
Explore how tai chi and yoga complement each other in an indoor class at Shaolin Martial Arts Training Center. Expect slow, flowing movement, deep breathing, and mindful attention while going deeper into the I Chin Ching forms. Instruction on the I Chin Ching is led by Sifu Jason Knapp, head instructor and owner of Shao-Lin, with the yoga elements guided by Michelle Waters of Weird Flex Yoga. The emphasis is an approachable introduction to tai chi combined with a supportive yoga practice, with intensity you can set for yourself within a gentle to medium range. The space uses fluorescent lighting and may feel warmer in hot weather. The floor is padded, so a mat is likely optional. Bring water, any props you enjoy, and wear comfortable clothing for movement. Cost is $20. Parking is free and plentiful, and the training center sits behind The Walk-In Closet Thrift Store. Please be considerate with photography by getting permission from everyone who would appear in your photos. Refunds or credits are not offered, though you may transfer your reservation to another student for the same class.
Shaolin Martial Arts Training CenterSummer Solstice Sunset Floating Sound Immersion
Settle into a summer solstice mini retreat that honors the season’s longest days and invites deep relaxation in warming waters. As the sun sinks toward the horizon, experience a soothing sound bath and grounding group Reiki to help restore balance and renew your energy. Guest practitioner Amber Lemley of Tranquil Spirit Yoga provides Reiki for the group. Enjoy a charcuterie-style hors d’oeuvres table, desserts, and bottled water. Choose between an in-pool option with a provided inflatable tube and mesh float that keeps you comfortably supported while partially submerged to your midsection or chest, or a pool-side option where you can sit or lie along the edge with a single mat provided. A changing area is available. Please bring your own towel and any comfort items such as a blanket or extra mat. Tickets must be purchased in advance. The only point of contact for this event is Wild Soul Services LLC, Crystal Tackett.
