📰 In the news
Beloved classic takes the spotlight: IMP Huntsville brings Little Women to Dr. Mae Jemison Theatre today, a stage retelling of the March sisters inspired by Louisa May Alcott. There are multiple performances and tickets available — get all the details.
A lasting green legacy: City Council approved naming the three-acre Huntsville Arboretum at John Hunt Park for Landscape Director Joy McKee, honoring her work to expand the city’s tree canopy and improve public spaces — get all the details.
Transforming brain health research: Huntsville’s HudsonAlpha researchers are leading Alzheimer’s prevention efforts, using genomic and biomarker advances to spot risk years early. Work with partners includes HOPE-AD, shaping the Rocket City’s future — see the research and impact.
Convenient link now available: Allegiant launched a direct Huntsville to Orlando Sanford International route on February 12, offering up to two flights a week. Allegiant says it aims to make getaways affordable — read the full story.
Gold & silver are hot: Coming off gold’s best year since 1979, the momentum is carrying well into 2026 with silver remaining one of the most talked-about assets. Curious why precious metals are back in focus? American Hartford Gold has a free guide that explains what’s happening and how people are approaching it today. It’s free – and definitely worth a read.
Compare rates for free: The national average for car insurance is around $175 per month. Paying more than that? Same, so I did some shopping around and ended up cutting my premium in half. If you haven’t checked in a while, you’re probably overpaying too — here’s the comparison tool I used.
Nothing prepares you for a pet emergency: I learned that the hard way after charging $10k to a credit card for life-saving surgery on my cat, Miss Stache. As soon as we got home, I signed up for Spot. It’s super affordable – and reimburses up to 90% of the bill.

Highlights this week:

🫶 We got your back
Federal grant powers greenway expansion: On Feb. 13, Huntsville City Council approved a $20 million first phase for the Pinhook Creek corridor, moving the Skybridge pedestrian span and a new linear park forward. The work covers flood mitigation and stream restoration. Lambert Contracting was the low bidder, and GTEC will design three precast pedestrian bridges. Get all the project details.
Innovative approach to safeguarding children: Huntsville Police are bringing in a specialized K-9 trained to sniff out hidden electronic devices in child exploitation cases, through a partnership with OUR Rescue. The program covers training, certification, and ongoing support, and the dog will also help comfort child victims during crises. Read the full story.
Local flavors, downtown: At Purveyor, a rotating menu built on locally sourced ingredients pairs with thoughtful pours: wines, bourbons, and local brews. When you want something special without the fuss, this cozy meets elevated spot delivers in the heart of Huntsville.
Restock your kitchen drawers: Walker’s Market is the low-key source for small-batch pantry finds, thoughtful wines, and legit gear like cookware, knives, and serving pieces, all handpicked and tested by the owners. If your weeknight menu needs a nudge, their shelves will spark something delicious.
What do people see when they search your name? Search results can surface past mistakes or outdated information that no longer reflects who you are. BetterReputation helps remove and clean up unwanted content so your online presence matches your real life today. Not worried about yourself? Doesn’t hurt to mention it to family or friends who might be.
Take control of your credit card debt: High interest can keep you stuck paying more than you need to. A balance transfer card with 0% intro APR until 2027 and no annual fee gives you time to pay down what you owe without interest working against you. By transferring your balance, more of your payment goes toward the principal so you can actually make a dent in what you owe.
