Advance beyond Fundamentals with an intermediate West Coast Swing class at The Beer Hog - Madison. After a practice session, instruction focuses on technique, partnership skills, connection, and musicality. Participants are expected to be comfortable dancing West Coast Swing basics to music before attending. The curriculum follows a progressive three month rotation that steadily develops your dancing. The first month centers on creating clear leader and follower connection and responsiveness. The second month adds personal styling while keeping the partnership smooth. Matt Prater

Live & Local at The Observatory Bar features North Alabama singer songwriter Matt Prater, whose blend of country, honky tonk, folk and roots rock fuels vivid, heartfelt storytelling. Praised for a rich melodic voice and clear, down-to-earth narratives, he writes for himself and on commission, shaping songs that connect across generations. His catalog includes the albums Small Town Son, The Mountain, Tables and Chairs, Same Ole Highway Blues and Ain’t Life A Trip, along with multiple singles released in recent years. Themes of family, humble beginnings, honky tonk nights and Southern tradition run throughout his work. Prater maintains a busy touring life with songwriter showcases, music venues and festivals, often appearing in rounds alongside hit writers and top performers, and he has opened shows for several major artists.
